Posted: 31 Dec 2018 09:08 PM PST I just started a small arcade, and I have learned that it's great for couples. Every couple I get in, loves it, and out of all of my customers couples seem to be the ones returning the most frequently. I'm looking for a way to market more directly to younger married/dating (20s-30s) couples and would love some advice on where to start. I'm on FB and doing marketing there, but any special tags I should use? [link] [comments]
My landlord has just increased the service charge for my office by almost 100%. What can I do? (UK) Posted: 31 Dec 2018 08:21 AM PST I moved into my first office last November and signed a three year lease. My landlords agent has just sent me a 'summary of expenditure' via email which looks very exaggerated. He goes on to say in the email that "Overall the level of expenditure was in line with our budget figures and fortunately there were no major unforeseen costs." But then follows on to say "Having reconciled and apportioned the expenditure with the on-account payments you have made, there is a shortfall of £803.03 plus VAT." There is a lift in the building that has been out of service for about two-three months. My landlords agent then goes on to describe the plans for 2019 including the repair and refurbishment of the lift. He has estimated that the total cost to fix the lift is £26,250 with the landlord agreeing to pay £15,750. He then states a balance of £10,500 is going to be allocated against the service charge. The agent ends the email by stating that my on-account payments will need to increase from £85 pcm to £150 pcm during the forthcoming year. Is my landlord actually able to do this?

Seriously thinking about opening a laser tattoo removal studio. Posted: 01 Jan 2019 12:04 AM PST Hi! I'm seriously thinking about opening my own laser tattoo removal studio, and was wondering if I could get any insight on the business. I'm attending the National Laser Institute in a couple of months, though my state requires no formal training. What I really need are the basics of running a business I guess. I plan on having very little up front cost, as I'm attending the NLI on a GI Bill, and I can source a top of the line laser from the manufacturers themselves. Maybe $5,000 tops. My biggest worry right now is advertising. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Customer Complaints that are beyond scope Posted: 31 Dec 2018 06:29 AM PST Hi there! Thanks for reading, my business provides a service (home cleaning) and my team and I are very people-friendly and several years in customer service and interaction. Now we strive and proudly conduct our work, but if the need arises, we have a 24 hour reporting window to find discrepancies, which comes to the question here. I've found that ONE customer, that wants the bicker over price, not set to agreed upon services, and then call copius amounts of times outside of our reporting window. This customer generally never seems satisified but they keep calling us out and waiting until we leave to call us back. Edit: They also give us this laundry list of complaints about the previous job we did. What advice do you have and ..maybe what stories do you have to share on how to handle these types of customers. Seeking advice on late paying clients Posted: 31 Dec 2018 04:26 PM PST In all our invoices we have a 15 day paying deadline and a memo that says "2% late paying fees per month will be charged". We have rarely had to use it but now our top client is two months late on a large invoice for reasons out of their control.. They're still communicating and I don't doubt they will pay. However it's getting to the point where this delay is causing us potential cashflow problems. They are our best client and they have been great to work with. No issues at all aside from this one. They have asked us to be patient while they work with their funding issue and I think they are genuinely in a short-term bind. Onto my question... I feel petty asking them for a late fee now, knowing they have had issues on their end. At the same time I also think it's not respectful to leave us hanging and they should have to pay something. I'm not sure what to do because the fee seems like I'm squeezing them at a bad time and it might hurt relations with them just a bit and that's something we really value more than anything else. But at the same time, I feel like we're being door mats to accommodate them - the fact they can't pay us now is a them problem, not mine. I'm curious to know what you might do in this case or what your rules are with late payments. FYI we work in communications where clients are more like partners and developing and maintaining long-term partnerships is vital to the business. Thanks for the advice! [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Dec 2018 07:02 AM PST I have been looking for help for quite some time and a woman dropped out of the sky like a godsend she's able to work all the hours I want her to work and she's very friendly and comfortable working with people that are autistic which is something my business specializes in. However I have gotten a lot of complaints about the quality of her work. We are a small children salon and we work with autistic kids and everyone gets the complementary braids and her braiding skills are nowhere near up to par. I was willing to let the braids go and just continue trying to teach her how to braid over time but now I'm getting worried. I'm getting alot of recuts and the quality of her haircuts that she's letting walk out the door have been a nightmare. I have a really good reputation in town and I'm terrified to let someone else tarnish it but at the same breath I have two children of my own and cannot work completely solo I need someone else what do I do. Before her I had gone nearly a month and a half without help and burned my babysitters. [link] [comments]
Order online while seated in bar Posted: 31 Dec 2018 04:57 PM PST I am thinking about developing an online ordering system for customers that are physically in the bar. They would go on a website through their phone (I think it is better than making then download an app), input their orders and receive an order number. The bartender can just yell the order number when it is ready. The system will not take money and customer can pay/tip at the counter. I came up with this idea while hanging in my friend's bar. Maybe because it's NYE, the bar is unusually crowded and it's hard to get a hold of the bartender, let alone order. I'd like to know your inputs on the idea, if it's a viable, etc. [link] [comments]
Anyone looking to get into Facebook Ads? Posted: 31 Dec 2018 05:33 PM PST Happy New Years Eve r/smallbusiness, 2018 for my agency wasn't the best, there was pretty much no movement at all. I'm looking to make 2019 different by gathering case-studies and testimonials. So if you've been hesitant to pull the trigger on Facebook ads and would like to take a sip, let's do it. Thanks again and hope 2019 is a great year for you! [link] [comments]
Question about LLC's and Registered Agents in Idaho (USA) Posted: 31 Dec 2018 03:36 PM PST I currently own a construction company (LLC) and am looking at starting up a trading card consignment e-store (would be an LLC). If I was to start a holding LLC that owns the construction company and the e-store could it also own a registered agent firm with me being the owner of both? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Dec 2018 01:06 PM PST I am a sole proprietor of a very small LLC. I file pass through taxes via Schedule C. I have pieces of inventory that I do not need anymore because of age or obsolescence and I would like to stop counting them as inventory each tax year. What would the proper way be to do this? Can I somehow write off the cost paid when I dispose of them? Thank you [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Dec 2018 09:42 AM PST Hey guys, I recently left my full-time job to start my own agency, Stairs Media. We are in the process of wrapping up development on our own site, but wanted to begin reaching out to people to look for work at the same time. We've done a lot of big and small projects and can show our portfolio to anyone interested. Referrals would be amazing too! Wouldn't mind giving 10% referral fees to anyone that can connect us with a client? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Seeking Advice: Where do Small Business Owners gather? Posted: 31 Dec 2018 08:50 AM PST Hi, I am the founder of a company that is kind of like Uber before there was an Uber. We have come up with something cool for small & medium businesses (SMB). Did you know they are roughly 50% of the global GDP and 6/10 private sector employees work for an SMB. I am trying to figure out where is the best place to openly communicate with the owners of these businesses. Where would you suggest? [link] [comments]

Small business perspective on state-run retirement programs (Secure Choice legislation)? Posted: 31 Dec 2018 07:22 AM PST Secure Choice legislation is getting popular in many states such as California, Illinois, Colorado and others. It seems to be a win-win for small business owners, but I'd be interested to hear the community's perspective on these types of retirement programs. For those who would like a little more information, Secure Choice programs are basically state-created retirement programs for private-sector workers help level the playing field between small businesses that want to offer retirement benefits but can't, and their larger counterparts that can. California, for instance, just launched its program, called CalSavers. Workers that don't have access to an employer-based retirement plan can enroll in CalSavers. It's free for the business owner; they just have to enroll their workers in CalSavers. CalSavers works like an IRA for the enrolled workers, and will follow them if they leave their current job.
