Anyone under 30 making 6 figures annually. What is it you do? Posted: 05 Jan 2019 12:42 PM PST Great to see a lot of young men and women on this forum already making a lot of money. What is it exactly you do? How long did it take you to reach 6 figures? [link] [comments] |
Toxic sales manager-what do I do? Posted: 06 Jan 2019 11:33 AM PST Everyone in sales has had one, and now I do too. Everything I do is wrong. I get blamed for anything that doesn't go exactly as hoped, like customer objection over pricing or terms, which is pretty normal. Overreactions and worst case scenarios always. Constant interrupting me when I'm talking. Emails and texts asking why I didn't respond right away we'll after business hours, as late as 10:30pm. Despite this I had a great year, sales wise, well over my number. And the company is well positioned to dominate and my pipeline looks pretty good. So i don't want to leave. But this manager is making me depressed and not wanting to work as hard, and giving me anxiety just thinking about going to work tomorrow. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jan 2019 07:44 AM PST Hello r/Sales! I wanted to take some time and pick your brain a bit. I am an Instructional Designer that creates training programs, certificates, and a number of other training solutions for employee performance improvement. I've been working on the costumer facing side of the house for a major SaaS company in the SF bay, but was just offered a role with the Sales team as a Sales Effectiveness Manager (I'm not really managing anything, but I'll take the title!) So, I don't know crap about sales. I'm a great designer and an awesome at improving performance, but I'd like to get up to speed on some sales foundations so I can "talk the talk". Any recommendations for: Books? Podcast? TV shows? (?) Additional Resources? For those of you who have worked with the Sales Effectiveness team, or trainers that help improve employee sales performance, could you share some insight on your experience? What went well? What didn't? What do you wish they understood about you and your needs? What are your needs? General input is fine, I don't have a start date yet but I imagine it'll be within the week, so I'd like to get a head start. Thanks in advance ladies and gents! [link] [comments] |
Pursuing Business Development / Account Manager in Home Technology Posted: 06 Jan 2019 11:13 AM PST I have recently left the role of Service Manager for an integration company (Smart Homes) and have found another opportunity with an integrator looking to hire for a Business Development Role in the residential construction market of Dallas/Ft. Worth. My background as a Technician and Programmer provides me in depth product knowledge, and the ability to provide solutions. I am looking to transfer this to a Sales perspective. I have good report with existing customers and have success in up-selling after I'm in the door. I think I will have success in dealing directly with home owners, but I have little experience prospecting above the owner. Does anybody have advice to offer to me in building relationships with Builders, Realtors, or Other trades? What should I prepare for in the interview for the position? What should my prospecting strategy look like, and what is a good resource for procedures to follow in sales? Also, what should I expect to negotiate in salary? Is there a typically commission percentage, average base, or expected OTE for the residential sector? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jan 2019 03:16 AM PST So having been on Reddit for sometime I've noticed a lot of the sales reps here tend to be many things Coachable- lots of people asking for advice Wanting to succeed and better there situations Hard workers (at least from what they write) Most companies have referral bonuses if a rep brings another rep onboard. So I'm wondering if there is a way to somehow link good reps looking for work here with sales reps at other companies. Internal referrals tend to get further as we all know. I'll throw myself out there, currently based in South Florida, 4'yrs pharma/medical device experience and some boiler room 100% commission call center remote computer repair before that, retired pro athlete / team USA. Plus a bunch of other stuff. Looking for a job since being laid off in December. I know beggers can't be choosers but I wouldn't take anything that was below 90k base/commission package. Need Advice: Cold-calling top companies for a role.. Posted: 06 Jan 2019 10:32 AM PST Hi Guys (and girls), 22yr old currently looking for an entry-level role in various UK tech industries and as the title says, I'm going to look up the sales managers for these companies and see if I can set-up an interview for an SDR/BDM position through cold calling. My question to you all is how would you approach the call? What advice would you give to improve conversions? What information should I know before calling each company? Should I be contacting HR? CEO's/Head's of Departments directly? and so on.. I know I can go through a recruiter. I want to contact companies who are not actively looking or don't want to go through recruitment fees, also I have extensive B2C experience but lack B2B (none in tech), thank you all in advance. Posted: 06 Jan 2019 08:47 AM PST Anyone selling in Toronto? Looking to setup a breakfast club where we can exchange leads and talk shop once a month? How to fine tune my process from cold email to purchase? Posted: 06 Jan 2019 08:37 AM PST I have a successful B2B business so far and trying to get more done with cold email. My emails are very targeted and super personalized. My main targets are restaurants right now. I've only been doing it so far for two days now, but what should my goal be for this? To get them on a phone call? I get people saying "I'm interested" or "sounds good, i'm interested in hearing more". Should I get them on a phone call and explain them how I'll help them and ask questions to learn about their business, etc. My business brings in $6k/month right now. About 90% of that is profit and my main plains are $179/month and $299/month. Do you guys have recommendations and tips for fine-tuning the process? [link] [comments] |
I am an Inside Sales Rep looking for advice Posted: 06 Jan 2019 07:12 AM PST Hi, I am an Inside Sales Rep for past 6 months and don't like the job at all but my team leaders said I can work on some of the traits to come closer to my goal. My goal is to be a educational consultant/coach/mentor to people and I can't understand what these 2 can be related. Is being a consultant and sales rep is related and how? If so what should I do in my current situation? [link] [comments] |
Let’s talk monthly meeting counts. Posted: 05 Jan 2019 07:06 PM PST I have 8 years of outside sales experience in the freight forwarding industry, Current employer expects 50 meetings a month, 40 in person and 10 over the phone. Constantly fighting the battle of quality vs quantity. Quality is really the only thing that moves the dial commission wise. What are your on target meeting counts? Over the phone? In person? Let's go! [link] [comments] |
Under 40 and making 500k plus? I’d love to see a snapshot of your career. Posted: 05 Jan 2019 08:46 PM PST I'm 35, manage business development and sales for an SME, 75 people with 22 million in revenue. I have one inside sales rep working for me and I handle outside sales. Total comp is about 200k, but some of that is a gas card so I don't count it, more like 150k without benefits and gas. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jan 2019 03:27 PM PST I've been in auto sales for a few years now, and I'm good at it...but I can't help but think I could be doing even better in another industry. My problem is that I never went to college and I'm now in my early 30's. Would love to get into software sales and am sure I'd be great at it given the opportunity...just don't know where to start. Any advise would be great. Thank you to this group for all the inspiration and support. [link] [comments] |
Payroll Sales -> Medical Sales Posted: 05 Jan 2019 05:18 PM PST My senior year of college I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in sales. I studied health science and was naturally drawn towards medical sales. The high stakes/high reward OR environment excites me. The products I will sell would impact people's lives. Thanks to this subreddit, I landed a B2B sales job right out of college. I got the training and hit the ground running. I've been on that payroll grind since. 1-2 years of experience was timeline for what to expect before transitioning into medical sales. I have 8 months experience at Paychex. I meet or exceed quota each month and have numbers to put on my resume and brag about. The problem is that the payroll space is a tough sell and the turnover is ridiculously high. I've gotten to the point where I feel like I am counting down the days. I take action each week by continually learning about the medical device industry, produce #s at work, and search for jobs through my network and job postings. Current and former payroll reps: How long did you work at your payroll company before you switched industries? What activity/prospecting brought you the most success? What was the key the for you breaking into the medical device industry? I've interviewed at a few companies, but ultimately wasn't moved on in the process or I decided it wasn't what I wanted. Interviewing has given me great experience and I now feel comfortably with the steps/flow. Thanks again for all that you guys have given to me. I remember times when I'd face a harsh rejection cold calling or dealing with angry clients. This subreddit would give me insight, guidance and hope. Thanks and I appreciate all that you do! Selling contractor services to chemical plants Posted: 05 Jan 2019 08:54 PM PST Trying to get some input on penetrating and selling to chemical plants. You can't cold prospect because of literal gate guards and if you don't have a name to contact, you are DO A. Not to mention there is tons of competition. Pretty sure they are buying the customers attention though it's against policy. Ant advice on how to connect with a chemical plant decision maker? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jan 2019 01:54 PM PST After interviewing with bunches and bunches of Saas companies the majority are dealing with some kind of logstics software these days. Software that manages something with employee hours, healthcare, employee leads, employee platforms these days. After watching several youtube videos the standard SDR call goes like this: 1) Hi my name is Blank from Blank. we are a Blank company dealing with Blank, how are you doing today/Can I speak with Blank? 2) Do you have a moment to discuss blank 3) Leading question usually goes here , are you suffering issue with blank, or would you like to improve your company's blank with our companys blank software? 4) Great could I set you up with a meeting with one of our account executives to give you a demo? How does Tuesday at Blank time sound? Its such a standard phone call, such a standard number of cold calls per day, what separates the SDRS hitting 15 meetings /month to 30 meets/month to 50/meetings per month. (Most companies Ive dealt with so far are at 30 meetings quota) [link] [comments] |
Accounting undergrad wanting to get in sales after college. Posted: 06 Jan 2019 12:19 AM PST Hey I'm a accounting undergrad.. I was initially planning to get my CPA and go the accounting route. But I've been looking into sales and the success people are having being in SaaS, Software sales and more. My question is that if I continue to do my accounting undergrad while I also teach myself sales thru reading... will that be good? It's like I think accounting is also a Business major with business classes too so it will help me in sales if I see better prospects in sales. [link] [comments] |
Business Development Manager (Interview Questions) Posted: 05 Jan 2019 09:31 PM PST Dear All, I've got an interview next week for the role of Business Development Manager. I've never held this role and want to know if there are any specific questions I might be asked in an interview which I should be prepared for. Please pardon me for not wanting to reveal too much about the company so if we just list a few general questions which are relevant to the role as whole that would still be amazing.
