    $DIS?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2018 07:24 AM PST

Morning all! So I've been playing around with Disney lately and shorting it as much as I could, so far profits. However I noticed that maybe it would also be a good time to buy for long term. I was reading about its acquisition of FOX and Hulu, cutting its ties with Netflix. I personally see it as a good long term hold. Any thoughts? It's been loosing viewers as far as TV goes but that's all due to people cutting the cord. I'm guessing views will pick up as soon as the deal is close, for right now it's low so Great time to buy?

Would I be a fool to invest in AMZN?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2018 01:04 PM PST

Looking into buying a couple shares of AMZN.

    Pros:

    • Expansion to NY and DC suggests they're getting themselves into fintech and substantial govt contracts
    • Way more than just an online store, also getting into health care
    • A real market mover; one of the few companies nowadays that still revolutionizes industries
    • I think they are somewhat China-neutral. If China does well, then they might have additional markets, etc. If China doesn't do well, I think their selling to US market and getting into domestic industries like Health Care and Fintech would still be fine.

    Cons:

    • Has risen quite a bit already in recent years, rise has been meteoric, not sure whether it has room to go. PE is high.
    • Feud between Bezos and Trump might get ugly esp. given former is unwilling to budge and latter is vengeful
    • Not a big fan of their Whole Foods acquisition, but it is what it is
    • Also, to be level, unclear ultimately whether their initiatives will actually revolutionize the industry or is mere hype

    Your thoughts?

Can someone make the bull case for Microsoft for me.

I am not seeing how transitioning some of their lacklustre services to the cloud makes them the third most valuable company in the world. They have about a third of the revenue of apple and lower margins.

Not getting where the blue sky is coming from.

How much is too much in one stock?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2018 05:45 AM PST

Over concentration can lead to beating the market or trailing the market. When is over concentration a good move?

    Diversification or Diworsification?

Do you have some stocks that you really trust to that overconcentration?

How far back can ex dividend/record dates go?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2018 10:54 AM PST

Let's say a company declares a dividend next week. Can they say that record holders of stock from June or earlier get the dividend? Is this possible?

Investors should not worry about AT&T's dividend payout capacity

    Posted: 08 Dec 2018 05:01 PM PST

    AT&T

Did a little study on AT&T. Here it goes: if you think AT&T dividend yield of 6+% is a bit much, it actually is. However, its forecast for next year's dividend coverage appears more than enough to cover for its dividend payout, therefore, it's best to sit tight and enjoy the company's ever-growing payouts.

In addition, the company's recently out 2019 guidance also supports a stronger cash flow that will support its growing dividends moving forward.
