Closed my first deal of worth 1000$ on a Retainer model. Posted: 27 Dec 2018 02:50 AM PST Hi, I've joined a Film production conpany who do all sorts of videos for any brands. It took me 3 months to close my first deal. I've did lots of cold calling, met lots of people, blah and blah. The deal I closed was also a client who enquired about us but not the one who I found. Nonetheless I've closed it. I don't know what to do now to find another prospect. Looking for some tips and suggestions which can help me to move ahead in this field. Like I said I'm working for a Film Production Company. All the suggestions will be really helpful. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Dec 2018 08:34 AM PST I was recently asked this question over a telephonic interview: How would you revive a lead that has gone cold? suppose someone is ignoring/postponing calls, ignoring mails etc. but you absolutely have to get this client or at least get him/her to genuinely consider your offering. Before i could answer, the interviewer mentioned that 90% would suggest reaching out to someone else in the organization. She wanted me to consider that the concerned person/lead was the only decision maker and needs to be convinved. I was wondering if this community had any insights on how they would tackle this situation. [link] [comments] |
Should I be getting commission? Posted: 27 Dec 2018 12:31 PM PST TL:DR - I will be having to make equipment sales at my company but will not get commission since I am not an officially in "sales". Should I be getting commission? I've been working at small equipment manufacturer for a month. My official title is Marketing Manager under the Sales & Marketing department. Most of my duties are for handling SEO, email newsletters, etc. We serve a lot of different industries which includes pharma, biomedical, food, cosmetics, and our biggest new market is cannabis. I'd estimate cannabis is about 40% of new business. I was essentially hired to market our equipment to the cannabis market more heavily. Most of our sales staff is old, doesn't like the cannabis market, think it is a fade, or downright will not talk with a kushbiz. My boss has found most of the entrepreneurs in the cannabis space are young and obviously don't like the current sales people. We have a few internal sales people and a lot of external sales people that all earn commission. Well everyone is out this week so it was up to me to handle leads. I actually sold two pieces of equipment to one company (in the cannabis space). Long story short I wrote my boss an email asking about the commission for this order. He wrote back a long-winded answer about how my role is Marketing Manager and not officially sales, so no I will not be getting commission. I did ask, "Will I be having to handle and make sales in the future?" to which the answer was "Yes." What is the motivation to sell if I know everyone else is getting commission but me? This duty wasn't discussed really in the interview process. They do keep on duties which aren't officially in my employment contract. This wouldn't annoy me as much but I've been getting behind on digital marketing and they do have KPIs and performance reviews for that. I calculated what I could be earning if I did a few equipment sales each month. It would easily be over 6-figures, much more than my current salary. I know I could be selling the sh*t out of the equipment if given the opportunity in the cannabis space. Do you think I should be getting commission on my sales? What should you do in this situation? Try to reason with the boss? Make a move to another company to earn commission? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2018 11:31 AM PST I'm 20 years old and have had some sales experience working in my grandfathers company but looking to get into something bigger, what are some entry level sales jobs ( commission based ) that I could get into? [link] [comments] |

Any Sysco or food sales people here? Posted: 27 Dec 2018 11:27 AM PST Having a hard time finding a job in new home sales after being laid off. Sysco is hiring and I was wondering if any of you could tell me about the job? [link] [comments] |
B2C or B2B, which is better money usually? Posted: 27 Dec 2018 03:27 AM PST I've done both. B2B is a lot harder in my opinion because there are usually a lot more DMs oppose to 1 maybe 2 in B2C sales. I sold painting jobs and that was usually pretty easy to sell. Copiers on the other hand is a whole different beast. I like the idea of going into med supplies or SaaS later but I imagine those are also really hard hence why they are good money. I'm early in my career and want to make the right choice to maximize the money I can make. What are your thoughts about this? [link] [comments] |
Recommended Sales Resources for new upcoming sales exec role? Posted: 27 Dec 2018 07:32 AM PST Starting a sales exec position here soon and wanted to get some input on what books/courses would be beneficial to get involved in on the side to help increase my level of success. I'm thinking in terms of business/sales. I've been in various sales roles with on job training for the past 5 years but no formal education/degree. This role will be responsible for the full sales cycle from lead gen - close. High dollar SaaS deals. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Looking for freelancer contract, b2b sales. Posted: 27 Dec 2018 07:07 AM PST Hello! Could anyone help me with the example of tested sales freelancer contract? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2018 06:57 AM PST Hey fellow internet going salesman! I have been a telephone salesman for several years where people call me (inbound) and I attempt to persuade them to purchase. My company is changing their commission structure so that instead of focusing on inbound sales, it is changing to more of a referral system. It's not that I now need to do outbound calling but I need some way to generate clients. I thought you guys might be able to offer some advice on how to get referrals. Any ideas would be helpful. Here is a little background on my product to give you a frame of reference. The product I sell is a dental plan for people who do not get something from work (self-employed, disabled, retired, etc.). It is very inexpensive ($99 a year), saves a ton of money (like 50% off or better), and has no waiting to use it. I even use it myself since I am only a part-time employee/student. Thankfully since it is such a good product, it basically sells itself as long as someone does not already have a plan through work. I am leaning towards using social media but I do not know how many of my target market would be on such a website. [link] [comments] |
No Tasks To Do (Festive Season) Ideas? Posted: 27 Dec 2018 02:34 AM PST I'm one of only a few people in the office this week. Everyone else is off or working from home. My team are all off except me. I have chased up everything that needs chased. Most of the companies we call are off until after new year. I feel like I want to be productive and not getting paid to sit on my ass doing nothing the next couple days. So far I've: Sorted through and neatly arranged my email inbox. Ran through all of my opportunities to make sure notes have been left accurately. Updated my LinkedIn in preparation for getting my own accounts in January. Set myself personal goals for 2019. Any other ideas how to keep productive the next couple of days?Or will I go full Castaway and create a football friend? [link] [comments] |
Motivation for long days in sales Posted: 26 Dec 2018 03:09 PM PST Any good tips for keeping a level head after not selling anything? I'm positive most of the time but the emotional dips in sales can be frustrating (ie: not selling a car today). Any good tips or stories on keeping your head up after a bad day of sales? Thanks all love this sub! 😇 [link] [comments] |
How would you take the next step iywm? Posted: 26 Dec 2018 09:28 PM PST This is currently my favorite subreddit to read/post on- so any insight here (or if you were in a similar situation) is greatly appreciated! Currently 30yrs old, ~5 yrs of sales experience (this is my 3rd company). I want to transition into SaaS, and hopefully enterprise SaaS, as it seems like this is where the true big bucks are made (500k++). Only problem: I currently live in a Small/mid size metro with not very much tech presence. (prob not even top 10 or 15 metro) So the 'real' SaaS AE positions are few to come by. There are some small local SaaS companies posting jobs frequently, and they are typically in the 80k total OTE range... which would be great... except I make 200k/year OTE at my current job. and i really dont want to take a 50% paycut to 'get experience' WWYD if you were me? and moving to san fran, etc is not an option? do you take a paycut to get into the industry? if so, how much? has anyone jumped straight from AE to AE roles cross industry? should i just forget all my SaaS dreams and try and focus on making Pclub this next yr? (pclub guys pull 300-350k) thanks in advance my brethren! [link] [comments] |
Anyone in PEO sales here? New to the industry and struggling. Posted: 26 Dec 2018 01:03 PM PST Looking for a bit if onsight / feedback. Was recruited from my 8 year SaaS gig, where I had been thinking about making a change for a while. The company I was with was in a downward spiral and to put it nicely, I am so fucking glad I left. When considering a new position I interviewed like crazy, and the two best choices came down to a similar role that paid a generous base ($120k base, $230 OTE) or a human resource company working with private companies with 150 employees or less. Base is still generous ($75k) but with residuals after a few years your stability and compensation can't be beat. I chose the PEO/HR company.... the company I chose was the HR/PEO gig because the company itself really sold me and the people are great. Moving from working in the IT/Operations space in huge companies to smaller startups and private gigs has been a tough transition for me. I love the company but 5 months into this I am beginning to fear I am not cut out for this. The average newer rep doesn't get a sale for the first 6 months (sometimes longer) and I am becoming nervous and annoyed at the rollercoaster of PEO sales. Anyone in the PEO space (pr relevant experience) with some advice/ perspective/ encouragement? Considering packing it up and going back to hardware/software since I am the sole provider for my family. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Dec 2018 06:57 PM PST I am interested in learning more about sales and would like to attend some seminars or conferences about it. Are there any that this forum recommends? [link] [comments] |
Is Solar still a viable option? Posted: 26 Dec 2018 06:45 PM PST Before all of the Solar hate, I'm going to say I know it's not the massive surge it used to be. I know all the ads saying $150k-$300k a year are mostly BS. I have been doing door to door energy for a few years and am pretty good at it and enjoy it. From what I understand about Solar, it's a bit more consistent once you have a pipeline built, generally not a well known ripoff, and higher potential earnings. It also just seems cooler to me than deregulation. And to top it all off, I can live in and do Solar in states where Energy isn't open. Could anyone share some insight on what to expect or look for if you wanted to start in Solar? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Dec 2018 05:25 PM PST What are you all doing to prepare for January? So far I've built out a lead list of about 1000 contacts to set me up for success in 2019. Would love to see what others are doing to get started off on the right foot. [link] [comments] |
Sdr jobs which dont require college degree? Posted: 26 Dec 2018 04:27 PM PST Im actually asking for my girlfriend who doesnt have a degree. She has abour 2 years of experience as a customer service rep for whole foods and then 6 months at jc penny as a window sales associate (quotas and all). Her current job is a cna ( nurse assistant ) but I have to be honest its an abusive facility and a different kind of grueling work Any leads on if there are sdr jobs which dont require degrees? Her salary requirement would be pretty low also. She only makes around 15 an hour as a cna so literally any sales job paying 40-50 k a year with ote is fine by her [link] [comments] |
