Posted: 23 Nov 2018 07:39 PM PST What is everyone's thoughts on MSFT closing today as the largest company by market cap? I find it interesting that MSFT has about the same dividend yield (approx 1.7%) as AAPL but over twice the payout ratio (44% to 21%), and AAPL has the larger dividend growth YoY. Add in the facts that AAPL net profit is $40B more than MSFT and crushes MSFT on almost all financial metrics, it makes me think the market has either priced MSFT too high or AAPL too low at the moment. I've wrote options to have AAPL placed to me at $170 and feeling really good about it. Anyone else playing with me? Against me? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2018 01:59 PM PST Hello, guy in early 20s here. I invested $15k+ 3 months ago and held onto it until now, all in the S&P500 and I am bleeding bad. Considering the political climate with the trade wars and everything, I foresee even more decline. I know the common advice is the buy and hold but I don't want to wait another 10 years for everything to recover. I've been holding for 3 months now, and simply put I'm getting utterly screwed. Also I don't see any guarantee that things would recover. The S&P 500 is at records high, and for all I know the stock market could pull a Japan for the next 30 years. The only thing that keeps me in the market is the fact that historically, there has always been a gain 1 year after midterm elections. But with how things are going now... Yeah, I fucking hate myself for choosing the time right before a bear market to invest. Great intro into the market right here. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2018 09:22 AM PST Companies like UAL, AMD, Disney, Tesla, etc. Like if you picked against the "experts" this year you're probably doing better than most. PLAY is the only one I have that the "experts" were actually right about doing well. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2018 02:21 AM PST Hey all, So I've been excited about NextEra (NEE) for a long time, but I just found out recently that they have a Yieldco partner (NEP) that has a much higher dividend. I understand that Yieldcos carry some risk, but I'm very confident that NEE will pave the way for long-term success. My question is: Why would any dividend investor buy into NEE when they could buy NEP? [link] [comments] |
Company A acquires large stake of Company B...which one do I buy? Posted: 22 Nov 2018 10:40 PM PST I'm deciding between two renewable energy stocks I love: Brookfield Renewable (BEP) and Terraform Power (TERP). I read an article saying that BEP "acquired a 60% stake of TERP". What does that mean for investors trying to choose between the two? Or should I buy some of both? [link] [comments] |
