The spouse of a good client is constantly asking for free stuff. Line? Posted: 11 Nov 2018 04:50 PM PST The odd request once or twice per year is no big deal -- sure, I'll buy raffle tickets or help at your fun run or whatever. But lately it's spiralled out of control to the point that their friends are calling me now. I price things competitively so I don't make huge margins on the client. I like working with them. With Christmas around the corner I'd like to have a couple of soft rejections in the chamber, so I don't blurt out something unwise. Line? [link] [comments] |
Tell me about your experiences of opening and running a cafe (good or bad) Posted: 11 Nov 2018 04:26 AM PST Mrs and I have had a really good year flipping property and she has always wanted to open a cafe (she bakes basically any moment she isn't doing her normal job and already done wedding/birthday/party cakes). As we have cash to play with (and we've got a commercial unit we can use), we're in the middle of planning it out. The cafe not working an us losing everything we've invested wouldn't be catastrophic for us. We've specifically set aside money for it that isn't linked to our home, or our savings/investments. I'd love to hear you experiences of running a cafe - whether they be positive or negative stories. As we've never done it before, I don't want to go into it blind. [link] [comments] |
10 Best Productivity Apps in 2018 – Save Money, Time and Effort Posted: 12 Nov 2018 01:49 AM PST Coffee could be killing your productivity. As former Googlers say, relying on your morning cup of Joe is likely to worsen your work rate. But there's also one thing that can actually boost your output – not undermine it. I'm talking about productivity tools. They save our time, effort and money – even if we indulge ourselves with a cuppa once in while. So let's talk about productivity software. At Chanty we are keen on exploring digital tools. Understanding the features of different apps helps us in designing a better tool for our customers – fast, smart and AI-powered Chanty team chat. Usually, we review communication apps, but it's always rewarding to explore different kinds of software. However, in a broader sense – any piece of software that allows you to stay productive is a productivity tool. Moreover, there are specific tools for different business fields. E.g. marketers use Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social and other apps. Here's the list of 10 productivity apps for solving different challenges tested and tried by our team: https://www.chanty.com/blog/best-productivity-apps/ [link] [comments] |
Financial management platform for a small startup Posted: 11 Nov 2018 03:04 PM PST Hi guys, I received a lot of valuable input for my last question, so figured I'd shoot this one over and get your thoughts as well. I use Intuit QuickBooks to manage all of my business expenses, receipts, etc., and I'm finally getting to the point in business to where I need to be outsourcing some of the tasks within my business. However, I'm at a stage now to where I'm trying to figure out how much I can actually afford (and for how long) based on my current income. I know I can do this all in an excel spreadsheet, but I'd have to imagine that there's something out there for this. I use Mint for personal financial management and there are some budgeting options in there, but I'm wondering if this is going to be scalable for a business. What are some of the things you use to help keep your budgets and stuff tracked appropriately? [link] [comments] |

How do you deal with feeling constantly attacked? Posted: 11 Nov 2018 08:39 PM PST Not sure if this is the right sub, but just looking for some 'human' insights. How do you guys just chill out and get rid of this feeling of being attacked? (my life story below) TL;DR: I feel like everything I'm dedicating my time to is a great opportunity that I should and need to be taking advantage of. It feels like I can't afford to let any one of them slide, but it's killing me. I run a small side business, work full-time, work occasionally on the weekends, and am taking one (very easy) course while preparing for a very difficult one. It just feels like every day is a new battle and that you're not really good at anything. From the business side, it feels like every day I wake up to a new competitor trying to pull something shady, someone trying to hustle a return for free, money leaking out of my account on superfluous shipping or storage charges. Like you're constantly in danger of losing everything. From the work side, there's a lot to stay on top of and it seems like the requirements are constantly changing. Because of changing scopes and having to learn new things, I have to keep pushing back deadlines and that, understandably, screws everything up for others. The weekend job is a constant source of uncertainty, because I don't know how much time it will take from me until that specific weekend. At least my course is somewhat predictable, but it's still a headache at times when I need to go write a quiz, and I'm getting DESTROYED while studying for the more difficult course I'm taking come winter term. How do you guys just chill out and get rid of this feeling of being attacked? [link] [comments] |
What should I charge this VC-backed company that wants an inclusion in my eDM? Posted: 11 Nov 2018 07:36 PM PST I've been pleasantly surprised after I floated a proposal to a VC-backed business expanding to my city next month and they responded requesting a teleconference with two of their expansion manager. I proposed I place an ad in the eDM that triggers after customers visit us. My list is relatively small but has strong engagement: 2000-3000 pax per month who are actively travelling in in my destination (this is the prospects' key demo) Open rate - 52%. Click rate - 33% This would be a big fish, so I want to quote them fairly but competitively. Any thoughts on what to quote? [link] [comments] |
Ideas for business/trading/investing with spare time Posted: 11 Nov 2018 09:05 AM PST I'm a 27-year old with no relationship and no kids. I landed myself a pretty decent job as a starter earning ~42k a year. However, since I'm working irregular hours, (which outside of the regular office hours consists mainly as a monitoring systems) I find myself with a decent amount of free time. I'd love to spend this time being productive and working on something I like/of my own. For example running a small business (e.g. webshop?) investing, trading, you name it. What would be some interesting ideas to start looking into? I'm sitting on about 20k of savings that I'm willing to use a portion of to start anything new. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Nov 2018 10:05 AM PST Happy Sunday, Small Business friends. I have a successful artisan, handcrafted candle and home fragrance company with a retail shop here in my city. We sell our own branded products out of the shop, plus wholesale and white label (brands take our blank product and label as they wish) across the nation and internationally. We can also Private Label, meaning we can create other people's candle lines from their existing recipes (wax, fragrance, glass, wicks, etc) and they get to get out of the production side of things without losing their candle line. We have a few Private Label accounts that came to us, but how can I find more in the marketplace? Is there any kind of source for brands to say "I want _____" and companies like mine can bid/reach out with more info? Right now I am just spreading word that we can offer this via social media/IG tags, etc, and have the service mentioned on our website but if there's a better way to find these kinds of clients I would love to hear it. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Building and Growing a Tea Company Posted: 11 Nov 2018 01:21 PM PST Hello reddit world, I started a tea company because I thought it would be successful and still do. It been about 6 months and only a handful of orders. I do not have a ton of tea choices but I do sell good teas. The less teas I hold in inventory, the more I can keep costs down which I think is important. I have a decent social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and a little bit on Twitter. All are @WhiteStarTea. Are there are tips, tricks, or other things to do in order to get my company out there? It's hard to break the barrier that is needed to start growing. My company is White Star Tea and can be found at whitestartea.com !! If you guys could share, like on social media, and check us out that would be great! Thanks everyone!!! [link] [comments] |

What's the best method to hire/find a salesperson? Posted: 11 Nov 2018 12:08 AM PST I need to hire someone to help me with sales. I own a small business where we offer a technical service that can be useful to a lot of different people i.e. new businesses, established businesses, organizations, etc. - This is a popular market with tons of different options for clients. I would like to offer a salesperson 10.00% commission for each sale made. The prices are high so the customer has to be specific, but it's not impossible to find the perfect client for this business as I have done it multiple times before. This is not a mlm or whatever. I own a legitimate business and provide a genuine service. I just need more customers as soon as possible. This is the reason I would like to present this option for people that might want to make some extra cash instead of doing all the work alone. All the person would have to do is direct the potential customer to me. After the deal is made the person is paid. I'm just not sure where or how to find the right person for this job. What's the best method to hire/find a salesperson that's comfortable with income based on commission from sales? [link] [comments] |
Books about looking at business like investing? Posted: 11 Nov 2018 05:38 AM PST Any books that are about entrepreneurship in the style of investing? I like to look at things in investing mindset, a book like this for looking at industries, and innovative opportunities like an investor would help greatly. [link] [comments] |
Business Course Advice London UK Posted: 11 Nov 2018 07:33 AM PST Hello I have been googling and reading about different business courses in London, but have no idea which are any good. I already have a small business but my brain is definitely more on the creative side and am looking for either a short course or an evening course to learn more including the essentials. Business models and suchlike... Does anyone know of any such course? I essentially run a small media company. Started out as a freelancer but now have two full time employees, and also act somewhat as an agent for a few other freelancers. Hoping to level things up. Id only really consider courses that I have to attend rather than online. I know how my brain works and online courses wont work for me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks [link] [comments] |

I opened a bag up and found a cardboard box right on top and it had a name and address on the other side of town. Im going to contact my landlord. Should i contact police? I pay a premium for garbage disposal. I need to get locks. [link] [comments] |
