What is your one must own REIT? Posted: 28 Oct 2018 10:22 AM PDT Title. Im in the accumulation phase for my Roth IRA and have my sectors covered on what I'm buying except for a REIT. I feel like there is so much out there and I don't want to chase strictly yield and would like something with a safe/strong balance sheet. Any suggestions? (Also no K-1s). [link] [comments] |
IBM to acquire RHT in deal valued at $34 billion Posted: 28 Oct 2018 12:13 PM PDT IBM to acquire Red Hat in deal valued at $34 billion - https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/28/ibm-is-reportedly-nearing-deal-to-acquire-red-hat.html Shares acquired in cash at $190/share. Looks like a great deal by IBM to remain competitive in the cloud market with MSFT, AMZN and GOOG [link] [comments] |
What do you guys think about IQ? Posted: 27 Oct 2018 11:11 PM PDT All the news about the company seem positive but it just keeps going and lower and lower.. Do you think this company has a good future long term 2-3 years? [link] [comments] |
So, are you holding or selling into 2019? Posted: 28 Oct 2018 10:24 AM PDT Everyone holding long positions has been spanked recently -- hard. I don't enjoy watching my portfolio shed ~2-4% week to week. So the question becomes, are you holding firm even as you wake up knowing all of your positions will be down, or are you in the process of selling, planning to sell, or have already sold? I look at 5-year charts of most the names I hold and this rout will probably go on for some time, and then trade flat instead of returning to previous levels. All news is bad news now. In writing this, I think I may have answered my own question. [link] [comments] |
Is it smart to continue holding on to total stock market ETFs? Posted: 28 Oct 2018 02:02 PM PDT I've been doing research and from looking at the shiller pe ratio and market valuation vs gdp, the market seems extremely over valued. With interest hikes and trade conflicts as catalysts, I don't see the stock market doing well in the next year or so. Or am I missing something important? Are there other metrics that show whether a stock market is over valued I should be looking at? [link] [comments] |
Do we have to account for our own wash rule sales? Posted: 28 Oct 2018 12:32 PM PDT Do we essentially have to fully read all monthly brokerage statements and identify all wash rule sales? I expect to claim up to $1.5K losses this year, and this is the first year I have been trading stocks, so I ask to start planning now for stock portions of my tax filing. [link] [comments] |
People who believe MU price drop is justified, RHT bought at for 34 billion Posted: 28 Oct 2018 12:31 PM PDT Mu is trading at 40 billion. RedHat earning is 411 million, mu 14 billion. Either ibm is the dumbest company or mu is stupidly cheap [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Oct 2018 11:30 AM PDT I have been shorting Pandora the last year and I domt quite understand how to play this now since Sirius bought them out [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Oct 2018 08:57 PM PDT Box inc is one of the few companies in my portfolio that isn't a value play. One of the things that I liked about this company is that its clients become entrenched once they start using it, and it makes it difficult to switch to a different provider. This effectively gives the company a moat. The customers also have a track record of paying for more services once they start using it. Does anyone have any opinions on this one? I'm expecting it to fall further from here, but am planning to hold for the long haul. [link] [comments] |
Beyond Meat eyes European expansion as IPO rumors intensify Posted: 27 Oct 2018 02:22 PM PDT If I want to get into its ipo, can I even get in? I use questrade and live In Canada. [link] [comments] |
Last FAANG standing aka Market Leadership Posted: 27 Oct 2018 06:38 PM PDT Apple is the last FAANG standing. The others, Alphabet, Amazon, Facebook, Netflix all have been hit hard. Stock market advance was relatively narrow. Now that the leaders are getting hit, the bull can't resume until the old leaders get healthy, or new leaders emerge. Semiconductors and Financials have not been doing well. They are two of the bigger sectors. Same issue, if these sectors flounder, any market advance is on shaky ground. It may be instructive to check the SP500 heat map on Finviz. Different time periods can be clicked on to see the relative strength of both sectors and larger stocks. Might be a decent way to see what new leaders might emerge. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Oct 2018 05:28 PM PDT Thinking of buying many shares before this comes out. I know Facebook has lost some of the general populations trust through their shady tactics but there's a lot going on underneath all that. They obviously have some underground ties and the market doesn't reflect all that. I'm hoping this will pull a Tesla, Any opinions? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Oct 2018 08:20 PM PDT I've added to my NTNX position 4 times this month, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm crazy. What is everyone else feeling? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Oct 2018 06:53 PM PDT What do you guys think of NIO for long term? They are a pretty good company but what do you think for long term potential? [link] [comments] |

During the IPO, StoneCo and its current shareholders plan to raise $1,050 million, selling about 47.7 million Class A shares. The company's revenue for the 1H18 was $165 million, an increase of 92% Y/Y. Posted: 27 Oct 2018 04:51 PM PDT When reviewing sample portfolios, I noticed that many examples have small, international, and mid cap in Roth IRA. Also, many had bonds in their 401K portfolios. Is there any logic behind it? If a portfolio consists of taxable, 401K, Roth, and traditional IRA accounts, which asset classes should be placed into which accounts? What are some of the advantages and disadvantages for it? Thank you for your help. K [link] [comments] |
