Anyone hear of Medipharms ticker LABS on TSXV

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 09:20 AM PDT

Apparently its the first company in Canada to get their medical CBD license and are projected to earn about 20m per quarter.

current market cap approx 200m. which is only around 3x projected earnings.

current competitors are Radient Tech and Neptune, both of which do not have this license.

Medipharms is also going to be applying for a sales license, which I cant see any reason why it wouldnt be granted.

On top of that theres a huge saturation of weed production, whichbis what they need to produce their product. So theres ample supply.

Whats the actual size of the medical grade cbd market ?

These minor downturns we are seeing on tech stocks

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 03:26 PM PDT

These are extremely small "corrections", when it comes to a true market down turn these will be the ones that get hit the hardest. Just a reminder that though it looks really tempting to invest in something that is 2-5% down. Netflix being down 7% should be one such indicator of just how shaky things can get and this is in an overall very positive outlook environment (when you look past day to day and day to week averages), now think about this in a true bear market.

BTW- I am putting my money where my mouth is, and adding to fusvx, not these tech stocks.

    Dynamic Asset Allocation [Python Script]

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 11:27 AM PDT

You might remember me from that post about the effects of diversification last week or mean reversion strategy.

This week I decided to actually make something out of that rushed script into something pretty but I'm not into art so I decided to do a simple yet effective quantitative strategy out of it, only this time, I'm making it open source! (GitHub)

Topics approached: Optimization, asset allocation, diversification and a bit on performance metrics

    Legal stock related question

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 11:03 AM PDT

Hey I'm not sure if this belongs here but here we go. I'm interested in CELGENE (CELG) stock, a biotech company. They are heavily dependent on one drug, REVLIMID, second highest selling drug on earth, brings in 8.2 bilis/year, constitutes 63% of their revenue.

They are definitely a top dog. My issue is that they say that the patent ends in 2027 for that drug, after that companies are allowed to sell their own generics. BUT apparently it is possible that we see widespread competition coming in that market as soon as 2020 and I can't understand how that's possible when the drug is patented until 2027! Any medical field/lawyers expert out there that could help me understand this? Thanks a lot

    Predict the future of fintech

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 02:09 AM PDT

I hold V , PayPal , and square and I'm really interested in this space because there is a lot of innovation and opportunity . I know competition is good and will make all of these companies better but what is the risk that one of them completely becomes irrelevant due to changes in the technology? I like the maturation of PayPal and Visa's brilliant execution and management. Square is also interesting because of the software they are developing to build their business and if they keep delivering great products the rest will take care of itself but the rate of change and the competition is going to test all of the fin tech stocks and I would like to know what you guys predict in the next 10-20 years when it comes to payments and financial technology . Are the banks going to clobber them or are their technologies and innovations so good that they will control their own destiny ?

What price chart timeframe do you use when determining whether a stock is in uptrend/downtrend/sideways?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 04:46 PM PDT

So most stock exchanges let you look at 1 day/1week/1month/1yr/5yr price charts, and I understand it's best to buy a stock at the end of its downtrend, or at the start of an uptrend. However, I'm confused as to what timeframe to use out of 1 day/1week/1month/1yr/5yr when determining which trend a stock is in.

Anyone see any reasoning behind PYPL dropping circa 10% over the last few weeks?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 02:12 AM PDT

Was showing strong growth and is still decent to buy in to, good time to buy more before q3 and 4 earnings?

How Do I Invest In This Specific Company If I Cannot Find It On Etrade/Ameritrade?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 06:09 PM PDT

I am trying to buy stock from Marvelous Inc (the creators of the original Harvest Moon games, along with Rune Factory), but I am not sure how? I have looked for it on both Etrade and Ameritrade, and yet I cannot find it on there.

Can you guys help me figure out a site to use for buying stock from Marvelous? I have other companies that I would like to buy stock from as well, but I figured that I should start out with the one I want the most first.

For the last year, Medical Distribution as an industry did really well except for Cardinal Health Inc (CAH). Why ?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 05:53 PM PDT

I believe the following are the reasons for not doing well.

Low Profit Margins and recent price pressure really affected them ?

Doubts about their CVS partnership ?

Their drive towards acquisition of non-core products ?

At current price CAH look really attractive. is it the right time to buy ?

    Generic Brand Healthcare Companies/Products?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 07:47 PM PDT

So today and this week was a healthy correction, and I think the next 6-9 months pose more gains. However, in the next year or two, I think we'll enter a recession.

With that, the obvious shift is to staples, utilities, etc. Being relatively new and never experiencing a true recession in investing, I have a question for you all.

Would generic brand healthcare companies pose gains? Do these exist? Like companies that make the generic versions of important medicines like insulin, aspirin, etc. Wouldn't these post gains in a recession with the same concept of walmart gaining more than a whole foods?
