Guideline Reminder - Duplicate posting of same or similar content. Posted: 30 Oct 2018 07:33 PM PDT Hi everyone, this reminder is in light of the excessive amount of separate "kool aid swag" threads that have been submitted in the last 24 hours. I had to remove over a dozen of them today as they began taking over the front page of /r/accounting. Last year the mod team added the following posting guideline based on feedback we received from the community. We believe this guideline has been successful in maintaining a front page that has a variety of content, while still allowing the community to retain the authority to vote on what kind of content can be found on the front page (and where it is ranked). __ We recommend posting follow-up messages/jokes/derivatives in the comment section of the first thread posted. For example - a person posts an image, and you create a similar image with the same template or idea - you should post your derivative of that post in the comment section. If your version requires significantly more effort to create, is very different, or there is a long period of time between the two posts, then it might be reasonable to post it on it's own, but as a general guideline please use the comments of the initial thread. __ The community coming together over a joke that hits home, or making our own inside jokes, is something that makes this place great. However, it can be frustrating when the variety of content found here disappears temporarily due to something that is easy to duplicate turning into rehashing the same joke on the entire front page of this subreddit. The mods have added this guideline as we believe any type of content should be visible on the front page - low effort goofy jokes, or serious detailed discussion, but no type of content should dominate the front page just because it is easy to replicate. Posted: 30 Oct 2018 03:58 PM PDT I just started as a new hire at a top 10, non big 4, firm. I'm only a few days in but I am already having issues at the office. Hopefully you can give me some advice. In the office they have mugs that anyone is able to use. These mugs are pretty big so when I make a drink in the Flavia, it only fills the mug half way. I don't want to use two of the same pouches to fill the mug making the partners and my coworkers think I'm hogging the best flavors. I also dont want to constantly go back to refill and seem like I'm always taking breaks. Are there any combinations of flavors that work well together? Should I ditch the Flavia all together and get good coffee? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

I just realized you can answer Ninja MCQ using keyboard shortcuts Posted: 30 Oct 2018 01:53 PM PDT ~2000 MCQs later I've finally noticed you can type ABCD for your answer and enter to either submit your answer or go to the next question. No more wasting time clicking on the little dot. I should have guessed that a program for accountants would have keyboard shortcuts. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Oct 2018 03:41 PM PDT Hello Peeps, As the title stated, I recently accepted an offer at a big 4 firm and I am currently working at a mid sized firm. My start date will be sometime in December, however, I do not want to tell my current firm right now in fear that they may fire me on the spot. I do need the money and would like to keep working with my current firm until I start with the big 4. I plan on giving my two week notice sometime in late November. My question is: when the big 4 does their background employment history check on me, will I get in trouble by my HR department for not disclosing that I accepted an offer? Or do these background checks work in a way where they validate my employment history without contacting a member of my current firm? Any input is appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments]
How lost did you feel beginning your first job? Posted: 30 Oct 2018 04:36 PM PDT So I just started my first accounting gig with a small healthcare consulting firm. I got the job because the CEO is a friend of my father's, and I am still in school, set to graduate in May. Basically 100% of my job while I'm in school is excel work, mainly dealing with AR, but some work in investments and insurance negotiations. I'm super excited for all this work, but holy shit I feel like my school did not prepare me for this at all. Is that pretty normal? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Oct 2018 06:03 PM PDT A friend went into her second round of interviews with a big 4 firm and told me the partner had called some of my friend's student government supervisors (who are also professors) for their opinion about her. It seems they gave a good reference because my friend later got another call from the partner saying she got accepted for an internship. Do partners generally call your professors/student government supervisors to give their opinion about you?? How did the partner even know who to call? [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Oct 2018 07:37 PM PDT I just accepted an offer from GT for fall 2019. When will they start doing the HR and background check stuff? Is it now or sometime next year? [link] [comments] |
