Jack Ma will not retire next week according to Alibaba Posted: 08 Sep 2018 10:26 AM PDT Jack Ma to unveil Alibaba's succession plan, paving the way for younger talent to take over. Ma will remain executive chairman while the plan is carried out. A New York Times report that said he was "stepping down" to "retire" was out of context, and factually wrong, an Alibaba spokesman said [link] [comments] |
Where do I learn everything about charts and stocks? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 10:43 AM PDT Im a complete beginner, was learning chart patterns on YouTube, I wanna dive deep and learn a lot at least all basics before starting....where do I go? [link] [comments] |
Converted most of my stocks to LEAPS... smart or dumb? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 07:46 AM PDT LEAPS are in AMZN, MSFT, NVDA, ADBE, smaller position in FB. Still got some stocks. How risky is this portfolio, I know for a fact if a correction (20%) comes im screwed as the LEAPS will mostly likely cut in half in value. It's been fluctuating wildly this week, with the trade war news. What are the best play for LEAPS? I got screwed over by AMD, when I dumped it for small profit too early because I thought it would pull back, so I shorted it and lost all of that profit. So should I take profit often with LEAPS? And what about earnings as LEAPS will go through plenty of these? [link] [comments] |
$BABA and $JD shareholders - what are your strategies after the last week? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 04:45 AM PDT The last week of news really has me questioning my plan - down heavily on JD (in at $41 average), also down on BABA ($175 average). The plan was to hold long. Have your plans changed at all? [link] [comments] |

Looking for stock market historical data on biggest winners and losers Posted: 08 Sep 2018 08:43 AM PDT Im trying to find some pretty specific data that maybe you all can help me with. Imagine you are tasked to record the highest % gainer and loser from the NASDAQ every day. Each day you pick the top two and bottom two stocks, and track them for 10 days. You do this process for a year. I'm not sure how to find historical data for the stock markets, let alone sort it by percentage gainers/losers. Do you have any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2018 09:14 AM PDT What was not clear about their strategy to begin with? They wanted to do enterprise software, because there was a lack of a big player who could become a one-stop solution for everything ranging from mainframe solutions to cloud services, and it would provide a floor for revenues that would make them resilient to market shocks, and improve earnings margins, which is the only thing that matters in the end of the day. I feel analysts are purposely playing dumb, so that they allow banks to reap all the benefits by providing them an attractive entry point. That's the only possible rationale for this. They're purposely exacerbating market sentiments to their profit. Who pay the analysts? The big banks! So all of this is a big fucking scam. That being said, I see the stock surging to 270$ in a few months, and I will have to sell some of my shares, because I feel I won't make any profit if they keep doing this. The only way to profit is to sell high and buy low as frequently as possible. [link] [comments] |
Where can I go to learn about stocks, charts, and investment? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 11:37 AM PDT I'm a complete beginner. In fact, I heard about these things days ago in my classroom during a debate. I'm very curious and eager to learn about this. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Sep 2018 11:42 AM PDT First of all, I want to acknowledge that this post is very reactionary but I was wondering what I should do about Teva pharmaceuticals? I bought some stocks a couple weeks ago and they've gone down. should I hold or sell now? Thank you [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2018 03:34 AM PDT Some 3 weeks ago i did ask about CSCO in here. I was told by some guy to wait for earning and then reconsider. Since i bought them on 2011, i figured i could wait a few more weeks so did just that and CSCO performed just fine and also has shown some resistance to general tech sector trends. I account that resistance to its conversative P/E. Now, there was some slashing on the tech giants and it my personal opinion that especially for Apple and Amazon, some kind of lesser landslide is yet to come, based on the insane P/E and hype surrounding those. Cisco makes its money by selling hardware and security, both of which obviously rely on the internet being more of a thing than it is now. How do we feel about the ecomony in general and the internet economy in particular going forward ? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Sep 2018 01:37 PM PDT I can't really understand properly why do people suggest on investing in biotechnology stocks, what has changed so dramatically? I don't know if it is, but people are giving me the vibe that biotechnology stocks are gonna have the same jumps like in technology stocks in the last ~10 years (more specifically Amazon, netflix...) I don't know if that is true but that's what I'm understanding. So can someone maybe simplify it? Thank you so much. [link] [comments] |
How will Kaepernick Affect Nike (NKE) Shares? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 10:22 AM PDT I have several hundred dollars invested in Nike. I am aware that this controversy over the National Anthem may have played a roll in the decline of Papa John's Pizza (PZZA) (in combination with an allegedly racist CEO). Recently, Nike has doubled down on their support of Kaepernick. I invest based on the fundamentals, well, if a considerable number of people do not like Kaepernick then this may hurt their bottom line in the next quarterly report. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2018 11:11 AM PDT I'm pretty new to investing but bought this last month and it's slumping. Will it ever recover? [link] [comments] |

What drives individual stocks up or down quickly? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 04:53 PM PDT Hi, I'm new to day trading/ swing trading. One question that stumps me is what drives individual stocks to go extremely high or low (+/- 20%) in a matter of minutes or even seconds? I've been paying attention to certain stocks lately and notice crazy uptrends and downtrends. For example, one stock I own is OPK and I saw it drop over 20% today in a matter of 10 minutes. I'm still new to technical analysis but I noticed a substantial jump in volume at that time. I did not see this drop from a day or weekly timeframe. Can someone help me analyze this stock and see if they would have called out a significant drop today? Also, would I be crazy to buy more? There are allegations in the news right now about OPKO which might have brought down the price but still how does the price drop like that? [link] [comments] |
Toyota recalls 1 million hybrids Posted: 07 Sep 2018 04:30 PM PDT Is this the time to buy TM? They have gone down from 140 to 120 last 6 months and they will probably drop even more pretty soon. [link] [comments] |
