1 Simple idea to bring in the masses? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 06:37 AM PDT Hi guys, let me begin with an example of what I'm trying to achieve here. I have a barber who works alone, owns his work premises outright, so very little cost to do business and charges less than half the price of every other barber or hairdresser in town ($10) for a haircut. He doesn't do bookings, just walk in and get a haircut when your ticket is called. Now because he's so cheap, everyone in town flocks to him for a haircut so he's flat out but makes a good living at the end of the day. My question here for you big thinkers is this... Whats one thing I can provide to a broad demographic that's simple, cheap and quick to produce that will bring people from all over town to see me for my product or service? If it helps, I'm an electrician. And yes I know this may sound very broad and perhaps the one thing that every business minded person is struggling to find the answer to but I thought a good group brain storm could help a lot of people (encluding myself) find a simple niche they could work on selling and build from there. Should Author Entrepreneurs be trusted? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 05:20 AM PDT Take MJ DeMarco for example. While his books are pretty solid, how do I know if this person has started an actual business (tech, fitness, finance) or the only thing he does is selling books that made him rich? What kind of items could i buy to rent out to people? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 10:03 AM PDT I'm trying to find something I can get right into without having to buy insurance or anything, if anyone is doing something similar I could really use some advice so far I have considered music instruments, bicycles, karaoke machines, or pa systems. Does this mean there's a demand for my product? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 01:38 PM PDT I've been testing the waters on a new business the past couple months and I'm not sure what to make of it? It's a handmade niche product. I've quickly sold every one I've made and have profited nearly $500 in two months with no effort in advertising, social media or anything- only organic traffic to Etsy. The product is fairly easy to make and I can profit at least $30 for each one. Does all this add up to a winning business idea? Should I invest in producing more products and advertising? Should I expand beyond Etsy? Thanks for any input! [link] [comments] |
What stops you from launching your own website? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 09:51 AM PDT Just curious to see what holds you back from setting up your own website/shop/blog or online platform. [link] [comments] |
Best ways to attract users to an AI application that raises conversion rate? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 01:48 PM PDT Dear community, I created an application that uses AI to help websites increase conversions. The main reason was that I already have lots of projects, and needed a way to automate a decision process for which content to show visitors that would increase both engagement and sales. But while working on it, I thought maybe others would find it useful too, and so made it into an app. In previous projects I tried all kinds of things: youtube videos, google ads, email marketing, even facebook ads. The best was youtube videos, but progress was slow. Facebook ads were the worst. I wonder if anyone has any experience to share regarding this problem of how to onboard users? Especially into AI related projects? Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2018 01:18 PM PDT Hi, so I'm 18 and I draw and do digital art (mainly around games and well known characters from films and games). I recently began to show my stuff to some of my friends and even to people on Instagram and have been met with much praise and people telling me I should sell my art / services to people. The only issue is I don't know where to find customers. I picture my target audience being mainly for your average person who wants a Phone wall paper or a desktop background, or maybe even for a profile picture for social media and stuff. The only issue I have is I'm not sure where to go to find customers. I'm fairly business savvy and would like to test the waters. I have a few close friends who also produce digital and more traditional art and would like to explore the possibility of building a small business with are combined talents to produce better quality and a bigger quantity of art. But before I even propose such an idea I want to establish myself in this market. Any help or advice from people within this business or might just have some insight which they could share would be really appreciated. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Best ways to promote and advertise my business? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 08:42 AM PDT Hi all, so I currently have Instagram and Facebook and a new clean website. I sell a variety of Christian products such as bibles, t-shirts, pendants, posters, etc and much more. I'm looking to spend some money on marketing and ways to promote what I do. What can I do to gain exposure? As I'm looking to gain more followers, more clients and more recognition for my small business. I'm 21 and I have a lot of free time, I'm trying to find the best ways to advertise what I do. I am willing to pay so that I can get the exposure I need for the long run. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
Going from corporate finance to my own thing -- advice on potential routes? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 11:56 AM PDT Hey guys. As always... a long-time lurker and admirer of many of you. I've been in corporate finance for the past couple of years, and needless to say, have had the life sucked out of me. While I worked, I travelled a lot around the world, and got to put my passions into play - photography, style, and design with a bit of writing sprinkled in. Trying to plan out what my next steps will be... In the short term... 1 - Continue to build up photographer portfolio. I have been taking photos for free/minimal pay for years now 2 - Start up a blog that I can monetize over time, focusing on said topics above 3 - Focus on building my Instagram and doing more branding projects (it doesn't pay too well, but it pays). My Instagram has 25k followers who follow based on my travel experiences and tips, and style. According to some brands, my engagement rate is really high! 4 - Consult with smaller business on building their brands and social media (I have helped several brands and charities build their audiences to the tens of thousands over months). For free. In the long term... 1 - Create a company based in minimalism fashion (similar companies are Everlane or AllBirds), but with a focus on hiring sustainably and paying artisans their fair share 2 - Open up a coffee shop! Can you give me your hard commentary and thoughts? Is this some pipe dream and I should take a nap and head back to my corporate job tonight (it's nonstop)? [link] [comments] |
How do I get customers for my hardwood business? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 11:48 AM PDT I'm starting up a hardwood installation company and I need customers. What's the fastest, cheapest, and most effective way to reach out to people in my city who need hardwood installation? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Business / Self Development Podcasts? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 11:13 AM PDT My favourite business / Self Development Podcast is Freedom Pact on iTunes, which I seriously recommend. I also wondered if anyone had some recommendations of podcasts that are similar to Freedom Pact? [link] [comments] |
Recommend your favourite entrepreneur audio books Posted: 08 Sep 2018 02:34 AM PDT My audible credits are starting to stack up. I want to buy some really good business books on audio, and thought the r/entrepreneur community might have some suggestions. Specifically I'd love to know the books you listened to that changed your life and/or your business for the better, and ideally books that you think are much better as audio than as a traditional reading experience. Single Serving Beverage .375 - .51 oz Co-packer Advice Posted: 08 Sep 2018 09:43 AM PDT Hello, my partner and I have an idea that we would like to prototype in the single serving beverage industry (think single serving creamers). We're attempting to find a company that packages .375 oz - .51 oz single serving cups. I've found several distributors of the cups, but have yet to find a company that actually fills/makes single serving beverages/creamers on the industrial side. In addition to finding a packer, I need to find a company that formulates beverage flavors. We have design and recipe covered, but now we need to find someone who can actually prototype these for us. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
What kind of mundane tasks do you guys have to do regularly? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 02:42 AM PDT So, I've been thinking about entrepreneurship in general and have realised that nobody talks about the boring mundane things entrepreneurs have to do often. Of course, that's how it works most of the time; overhype the positives and downplay the negatives. That being said, what kind of repetitive tasks do you do? [link] [comments] |
How do I get money to scale my business? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 08:40 AM PDT So I already have a profitable business that is doing well but due to personal reasons I have went in the hole with money and can no longer afford to continue my marketing. I am brand new to all this so I don't really have credit to go to the bank with but I do have a shopify store that does bring in a huge ROI on the money I spend on ads. I don't need anything huge just 5,000-10,000 to get things running I already have a winning product(s) [link] [comments] |

How would I go about designing a website from scratch that I have planned out on paper? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 12:21 AM PDT I have a pretty simple layout for a website that I have designed on paper. No rocket science. It's straightforward. I want to know if it is possible to get the design I have on paper onto the website via a professional and where would I look to have that done. Would Upwork be a good start? Thank you for your time. [link] [comments] |

What do you do to keep you motivated/working through the weekend Posted: 08 Sep 2018 05:44 AM PDT Hi hustlers and grinders, To stick it to established shops in my industry and carve out a little spot of my own, I know I have to work harder and longer. I suspect many of you find yourself in a similar spot, unless you are selling a get rich quick scam, then you might be better off. So, in the every day, I can get a few more hours of work done after dinner by enjoying some liquor. My poison is rum. I know this obviously reduces my efficiency, but it keeps me working. I really wanna shift it up during the weekend and cut down on alcohol in general. I tried listening to podcasts (Speaking of podcasts: check out the lastest JRE with Elon and prepare to laugh, cry and despair). But they're too distracting. So now I'm sitting here working as if it was a normal day. Bottom line: I need to work, and so do you, but we also wanna feel that it's sort of weekend. Do you have any tricks, tips or rituals to share? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2018 01:56 AM PDT So there's definitely some pretty obvious costs. Ingredients, tools/utensils, packaging, shipping, kitchen space, labeling... But what are some of the costs I might not have considered... I'm thinking like Liability Insurance, food inspections, or other costs that might not initially be considered? Also, Bonus Question: I worked in a restaurant for a little bit, and am fairly close with the owner. Assuming the owner was ok with it, would there be any laws or regulations that might prevent me from being able to use this Chef's kitchens on a graveyard type schedule when the restaurant or even a separate food prep kitchen (not restaurant but commercial kitchen)? Would I be able to store ingredients at my home in a freezer, then bring them to the commercial kitchen to produce food for sale? OR do all the ingredients have to only be stored at commercial location? Appreciate any insights. [link] [comments] |
