Legal Advice I didn’t realize I was pregnant (AZ)

    I didn’t realize I was pregnant (AZ)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:29 AM PDT

I just found out I am pregnant at 22 weeks. I have a medical condition called PCOS which means my period is irregular and I regularly get all kinds of bloating and cramping, which is why I didn't realize until I felt kicks. I had an ultrasound and it is a girl, and I am going to keep it.

But now my boyfriend is furious. He says I tricked him and trapped him. In the past I had told him I would have an abortion if I fell pregnant, but I thought I couldn't get pregnant with this condition, so we weren't being too careful and now that I've seen the baby I don't want to have an abortion.

My boyfriend says if I don't put the baby up for an adoption, he will call DCS and say that I was drinking and smoking during the pregnancy and get it taken away. He says he will come to the hospital and tell the doctors and nurses I'm a bad mom. He has been calling me nonstop and texting me with these threats. I don't know what to do, and I don't know if what he's saying is the truth?

[CO] flight benefits revoked because of a stranger.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 05:04 AM PDT

So, my mom retired from an [removed airline name] airline a few years ago with full benefits. We recently had my cousin (age 16) fly out to Colorado on standby. This is when you can fly for free or very cheap if they have available seats open.

Well, there were no seats available on the flight he wanted to come out on so he was left in the boarding area to find another way to Colorado. A complete stranger "came to the rescue" of my cousin and started yelling at the gate agent for not letting him on the flight.

My mom's flight benefits have now been revoked. Is there any legal recourse we can take?

Edit: thank you for all your responses! I went to work and didn't expect to get this much help. My mom did receive 30 one-way tickets each year that she could give to anyone.

My cousin is partially deaf and has traveled standby before, so I know he knows the drill and is incredibly respectful. I was not there, so, yes, we are taking his word for it but I can't imagine he would have been rude to the gate agent.

Found wife cheating on 10th anniversary trip in Bali [Seattle]

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 10:01 AM PDT

First of all I am in a total state of shock still and not sure who or what I can trust anymore and was referred here through /r/relationship_advice.

I took my wife on a 10th anniversary vacation to Bali and found her cheating with a known con man. I immediately left and am back home in Seattle while she stayed there. Her sister is on her way to our house so I can discuss this with her because I am not sure I want her staying here when she returns. I have taken care of the banking stuff and have left a joint credit card open for her to use in case she needs to leave.

I have no idea what to do or how to look for a lawyer in the area. To say I am having trust issues is an understatement.

Also we have been together for 13 years. I don't know what to do anymore.

Bought a purse for my 7yr old daughter from goodwill, she found coke in the bag at school.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 12:26 PM PDT

Three days ago, My SO took our daughter to goodwill too look around as they usually do when they're bored. I gave her $20 to shop with, on the ultimatum. I stay home and play games, since it was my day off. When they arrived back home my 7 year-old daughter was ecstatic about this small red leather purse, just her size since she is still really small for an almost 8 year old.

That purse didn't leave her side for 2 days, she actually slept with it on her bed.

Yesterday at she 2:30, My daughter asked to go to the Boys&Girls club, which she absolutely loves. Being an only child, she gets to play with other kids and do tons of stuff that she can't at home. She obviously takes the purse with her, to show off to her friends. After dropped her off, My SO suggested we get a few things from the store to cook for dinner. I agreed, and after a quick smoke, off we went to the store in the town next over.

After a successful trip to the store, at around 4:00 we get a call from a police department in the town to the north of us, as that's where the club was located. They have my daughter at the station. We have to come get her, but they wouldn't tell us what happened.

So after a Nerve wracking 15 minute drive, we get there and they made us sit another 15 minutes before my SO got to see our daughter. They both told the Police the same story about just buying the purse, and we even gave them the receipt for it.

What happened at the school was as follows.

My daughter and her friends were checking out her new purse. She found a small baggy no bigger than a quarter, and turned it into the club head, We'll call him Adam. They know us by name, where we work, everything. Vouched for us 100%, but had to follow protocol, so they phoned the police. They tested the drugs on sight, and unfortunately, they came back positive. Adam knows my daughter up and down and knows us too, because we volunteer and donate at the school regularly. We're always there to pick her up on time, dues always paid, we pay for her field trips in advance. They took my daughter in the police car to the station before calling us, and wouldn't let the club call us to explain.

They drug tested my SO before they would release our daughter to us. Now we have a DCFS Case out on us and I'm just trying to figure out what to do.

TL,DR: 7 year old Daughter took a bag bought from goodwill to the boy's and girls club, Ended up at a police station because coke was found in the bag.

Edit: Proofreading and grammar errors: sorry I'm on low sleep and just freaked out right now.

Edit 2: I'm in northwest indiana

Police knock at my door saying they found my wallet but I had a fake ID

    Posted: 01 Aug 2018 09:48 PM PDT

So I got out of control at a party back on June 15th 2018 and lost my wallet, after a week I gave up on my search and got a new wallet. Fast forward to August 2nd 2018, at 12:25 am. I see a cop car parked outside of my house but think nothing of it as I hadn't done anything wrong, a few minutes later I hear a knock on my door and my heart drops, it's the cop. He tells me that they found my wallet and it's at the station near the party I was at and I should contact them to get it back. Here's the issue

In my wallet I had my license, my student ID, my gym membership (all renewed and sorted out) I also had a bunch of gift cards and a decent amount of cash. Only issue is that I had a fake ID in the wallet along with a fake university ID

My question is what should I do? I had well over $200 worth gift cards and cash and the wallet was nice itself, given that it was lost for 2 months I feel it could've maybe been looted. I have all my stuff renewed but I'd really like to have the wallet and cash if it's in there.

I'm not sure what would happen if I called and claimed it, Since the ID is quite poor quality and is an "identification card" with no document # on it, is it still illegal or could it be passed as a novelty ID? Since there is no genuine proof of me ever using it? (I don't care about getting the Fake ID back I just want the other contents.)

I also live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I'm not sure what the laws are here and if they're more laid back

Let me know what you think I should do, thanks a lot.

(CA) Do I have to allow this nurse in my delivery room?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:57 AM PDT

I am 7 months pregnant and I just found out that a particular hospital here is my "backup" hospital for delivery. There is a decent chance I will end up at the backup hospital, as the main hospital gets full fast. Not only did my husband get fired from this hospital but the main issue I have with this - my husband's ex-wife's mother is a labor and delivery nurse there. I *really* do not want her to deliver my baby or even be there when I do. He has a child with this ex-wife and it's not the greatest relationship. I know legally, the mother cannot disclose my medical information and history but I don't want her to know it in the first place. It just feels like a messy situation waiting to happen. Not to mention, I want to enjoy my delivery, not stressed out because I have to deal with an ex mother-in-law. The lady I asked at the hospital just said, "Oh, that is awkward. Just hope you don't go there."

Legally, do I have to allow her there? Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

[OH] Father is slowly driving by all the time

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:30 AM PDT

My father has recently figured out that we moved again and has begun slowly driving by the house in either his girlfriend's car or his trike and occasionally taking pictures. I have told him to stop harassing us the most recent time and all he said was that he caught my mother breaking the law (we are supposed to notify the court in ten days of moving but three years ago when we moved my mother asked our lawyer about it because she was afraid that he would find out where we lived from the court, the lawyer said to just move and not notify the court). We are afraid that he has broken in or at least attempted to when we are not home and I am afraid that he is going to continue to harass me or my brother at college (NY/OH). What should we do? Retaining a lawyer again to bring this up in court is a bit out of our means as we are still massively in debt from the original custody battle. Thank you!

Medicare is defrauding thousands of elderly and disabled persons. What can I do? (Location: OR, USA)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 04:01 AM PDT

Medicare is double dipping. They are paying claims, getting refunded from providers, and then asking to also be refunded the same money by their members, the patients. Similar to a scam I caught Regence trying to pull, but Regence backed off immediately once caught (see my post history). I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone. I have never seen so much blatant fraud as this past year. How many people don't even look at the bills or EOBs and get robbed of tens of thousands of dollars? Subrogation is a dark and shady place that I hope none of you have to go through.

My wife is disabled and is on Medicare. Our primary insurance is through my employer. My wife was involved in a car accident and Medicare paid a few claims in full while working out conditional payments by our primary insurance. Our primary insurance ended up paying all but 6 claims, but Medicare says I owe them for all the claims they paid, even the ones they were reimbursed for once my primary paid.

I have sent in two appeals. The first was only three sentences, short and to the point, essentially: "Review your records", you already have been paid the money back. They replied that they needed proof. I sent them copies of EOBs from my insurance showing they paid the claims in full. They replied that they were sending the case to a third party, Maximus.

Maximus replied saying that CMS never did review their billing records and Maximus did not have access to it.

Completely fed up, I called the Benefits Coordination Recovery Center (BCRC) and asked if they could please look at their records and see that they got their money back. They said that they couldn't. The BCRC division of Medicare does not have access to Medicare billing records! The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. I asked if I could get a copy of how much they were reimbursed by providers from Medicare and give it to them. They said no. That wasn't enough proof. I had to call all 20 or so providers (some are ER doctors, etc, that would be hard to track down) and get billing records from them! I asked why and they said it was because the providers may bill Medicare again. This made no sense. How would a billing ledger from the provider vs Medicare prove that they won't bill Medicare again? Also, at least in my experience, getting billing records from providers is very difficult. I tried to do it in the past and one sent it to me 6 months later, after 4 requests. The other didn't speak English very well and acted like he didn't know what I was asking.

Most people would have just paid Medicare after the first letter and not even cross referenced their other insurance's payments. The amount in dispute is only around $1k so I don't think it would be worth me getting a lawyer for it, but what I want to know is if a larger case, possibly class action, could be brought against Medicare for fraud and if other's claims could be reviewed and they could get their money back. Would a lawyer be able to help or should I contact my congressmen, the Government Accountability Office, or the media?

TL;DR: Medicare received refunds from providers for claims they paid, but they want me to also pay them back the same money they already got back from providers. They are also making it nearly impossible to prove it to them.

[TN] My boss originally said I could go vote today. Today when I got to work HR said I no longer can.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:59 AM PDT

In my employee handbook (which they just revised and put into effect yesterday!) it states employees can take up to three hours off to go vote. I have no other time when I can go, so I asked my boss and she said yes. Today, the HR lady had a fit about it and now I can't go. This is illegal, right? In TN I believe it's the law to allow employees this time. What are my options?

Edit: Thanks for all your advice and info! Seriously, a big help and great to know. It looks like it's been resolved and I will be allowed to go vote.

My car was towed from my apartment complex. They’re saying I had no parking pass, but I can see it from the road at the tow lot. (VA)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:55 AM PDT

    Hey guys!

So my car was towed last night from my apartment parking lot. All of us are given parking passes to park in a reserved spot. Here's the issue right now:

    1. I wasn't parked in a reserved spot. They were all filled. I was parked in a guest spot that doesn't require a parking pass.

    2. The towing people say that I don't have a parking pass. I can see it through the fence on my car, hanging where it always has.

    3. They won't let me even see my car in their actual lot until I pay for the tow.

    4. They will only take cash or money order.

What steps should I take at this point? I walked down to get a money order at a gas station so I can get my car out, but I'm angry.

    Update: A couple things.

    1. They told me I couldn't get my car unless I have the registration. The registration was in my car, so they took down my info and made me sign something with my contact info and street address and said the car would be reported as stolen if I didn't provide them a copy of my registration emailed within 24 hours.

    2. The lady wouldn't give me a receipt of anything.

    3. She told me I couldn't record walking up to my car, so I took a secret video. She wouldn't walk with me to my car to look; she went to the gate and pushed it open (there were only fake locks, no real locks). She said I had thirty seconds to get in my car or she would shut the gate and make me pay for storage.

    4. My car was NOT unlocked last night, and it was unlocked this morning. My rear view mirror had been shoved up. My parking pass had been knocked onto my dashboard between my seeing it in the lot through the gate. It was still in plain sight on my dashboard, however, and it's shown in my video.

    5. I asked if they had a picture, because my apartment complex requires them to take a picture as heir agreement. They said they didn't know, by if they had a picture, I would have to pay them 25$ to get it. I called my apartment complex, and they said that they didn't know they were charging for pictures, and that they would get the picture for me and email it to me.

    Legal questions part two:

What all can I sue for? I know I can't sue for emotional damages, but can I sue for lost wages and for the Uber ride and the cost of a money order, as well as the cost for the fee to get cash out? Will my video be enough evidence?

[California] All house keys in apartment complex the same

    Posted: 01 Aug 2018 07:03 PM PDT

So a few neighbors and I tested this and apparently any of our keys can unlock anyone else's houses in the apartment complex. Since learning this, I've felt very unsafe and uncomfortable here. It's not even that bad a neighborhood (downtown Ventura), but just knowing how many people could get into my apartment freaks me out. There's around 36 apartments here, over 50 people living here. Any of them could walk in here. Is there any legal or otherwise action I can take? Surely this is some sort of safety issue.

Boss threatened my salary over disclosing my salary to coworkers [IL]

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 11:08 AM PDT

So I just started a role with my dream company a few months ago and things have already been shaky. I was with a coworker in the same role as me, but she is only a year out of college while I have a few years of work experience. She has been in this position for a year.

Coworker was questioning me about my salary, what my salary in my last role was, what a typical entry level salary is, etc. I felt like we were having a general conversation but didn't want to make things awkward since discussing salary can be rude when I know that I'm making a bit more (this was told to me when I accepted the offer) since current company matched my old salary. I danced around the question a bit and just said that my old salary was matched but then later on let my old salary slip, so Coworker put it together.

I received a call from the head of my company today reprimanding me for mentioning my salary and causing a "shitstorm" for her with her employees asking for more money. She also said that I only received this salary because the company expects a lot from me and that in January, if my performance is not what they want, they will lower my salary. She emphasized that I am not allowed to discuss salary with coworkers. This was all over the phone and verbal with nothing in writing.

This is a small company with many employees staying for 10+ years and even employees that leave the company will come back after a year or two. I should note that I am making less than $5k than others in my role, I have 2 years of experience compared to the others being recent grads, and all our salaries are all generally very low. I'm not sure how to handle this with the legality being told that I can't discuss salary when I know I legally can, and what if my salary gets lowered because they decided I haven't performed to standards. (We have not received performance goals yet).

Possible to Report Anti-Vax Clinic for bogus medical advice?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:01 AM PDT

    Location: Wisconsin

My friend is involved with a church that has lots of antivaxers in it, however he is not an antivaxer. He has learned of a private clinic that is telling parents that vaccines are bad for everyone (retelling this third hand, not sure what the specific claims are being made). We both think this clinic may be liable for some kind of malpractice... is there some sort of authority we can report them to? I was looking for a specific number or email to provide my friend to make the report. I got to this page: https://www.medicare.gov/Contacts/ but wasn't sure which organization to pick. Is there any specific information he should include or find out about to make sure his report is filled completely and accurately?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm not sure where else to go. We are not looking to sue, so it's not a matter of us building a case against them. We just want to report this, and don't know how.

Edit: This is the clinic- [link removed]. " Some of the services may be billable to Medicare and Medicaid." It looks like they do a lot of non-medical stuff, but do offer medical services. Would this clinic be responsible to provide accurate medical information?

Edit 2: I broke a rule by including identifiable information. My friend gave me their website, so I can provide more (non-identifying) info about them now if there are more questions. I cannot provide the website, and will only paraphrase what I see on the website to avoid identifying them.

(NV) Got a letter from my property manager saying I must vacate within 30 days due to "unforeseen damage"

    Posted: 01 Aug 2018 09:01 PM PDT

    Hello,

First time posting, hope this conforms to the rules of this sub.

I got home today with a letter taped to my apartment door saying, "your lease is being immediately terminated due to unforeseen damage in your apartment. The damage may not be apparent to you, but it must be repaired to prevent future damage to the home. The home subfloor and framing must be modified and this will substantially impaired (not a typo, this is how they wrote it) the ability to continue occupancy of the home."

I have 30 days to move. I briefly spoke to the office, they were closing when I got there, and they said a "renovated unit" would likely be available for me to move into, but of course the rent is $200 more per month.

The lease agreement was signed in April and I was given zero details on the nature/extent of the damage to the apartment.

The law they cited in the letter "NRS 118A.400" which says "damage or destruction of dwelling unit by fire or casualty."

Now, my reading of the word "casualty" is some sort of accident or natural disaster like an earthquake or flood, etc. Nothing like that has occurred since we moved in so it seems to me that the property manager would have had to have known about the "damage" prior to signing our lease agreement.

So it seems to me that either A) this is a cheap ploy to get my lease agreement broken and get me to move into a move expensive apartment, or B) they signed the lease agreement in bad faith.

I haven't seen city, state, or county inspectors on the property at large, but that doesn't mean they weren't there. But no one has inspected our specific apartment so there's that. There are also lots of other units currently being renovated.

Not sure what my rights are here. It seems to me that the A scenario above is what is actually going on, but I'm not sure if I have any legal recourse.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

[PA] Harassing "Student Loan Consolidation" Calls

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:30 AM PDT

My wife just called me after getting 8 calls from different numbers over the past 24 hours. The latest call is the most troubling.

Basic run down: numbers appear to be spoofed, but you can't tell until after you pick up. Some are local area codes, and with our only family in the local area not in good health, she picks up.

She has asked them nicely to remove her number from their call list, to stop calling, that she has no interest in consolidating her student loans.

This morning she said if they called again, she'd go to the police. Their response was go ahead - we're going to start calling you every five minutes now.

We're on the do not call list.

What can we/should we be doing?

    Thanks.

Trying to buy a home on a contingency with the sale of our home. The agency I'm with is a married couple going through a divorce. I got forwarded an e-mail detailing spouse abuse of the couple. Is it possible to disassociate with them? (Georgia)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 06:22 AM PDT

I have an offer accepted on the contingency that we sell our house. My current home is listed for sale. This morning, I was forwarded an e-mail from the wife of the couple that said the following:

    Stalking and Tracking iratic behavior:

Prior to May <Husband> proceeded to alienate me from my friends and family. He became increasingly violent toward me stalking me and tracking me, and accusing me of things that weren't true. He also started abusing Adderall staying up for days at a time.

Sent me to the Hospital and had me admitted after being mad because I went out with friends and had a few drinks, I was not driving.

He told the hospital that I was suicidal and tried to kill myself so I was admitted to a rehab center and released in 3 days. Also, called hospital to say he made it up because he was mad about me going out with friends.

I do admit to drinking wine… I did use it to cope with abuse of so many years. Since being away from him I have had no desire to drink.

Kicked me out of the house multiple times:

IN the last 6 weeks I have been kicked out of the house then begged back the next day. I have had to sleep in parking lots at times because the abuse got so bad.

He has packed my stuff up in moving boxes, then unpacked them all within hours of packing them and then packed them back up again. The children are terrified of him and are scared to say anything and make me promise each time to not go back to him.

    TPO

On July 24 after receiving a large commission check and paying a few bills <Husband> decided to pick a fight after I had had a glass of wine, winding down for bed in the evening. He screamed and yelled and our 5 year old was terrified. He took my phone and I had no way to call 911, I begged the 5 year old to get the neighbor to call 911.. With no success we saw an opportunity and she and I proceeded to the vehicle where he followed us and tried to hit us with the vehicle several times.. She was terrified the entire night at the hotel every time she saw a silver truck and begged me not to let him get her.

    Past Erratic behavior

Stalking me in his car, having my text come to his computer, wiping out my phone and emails of proof I had of abuse from 2007 and on…

Waving a gun around this past year for hours while I sat on the couch terrified of what he would do. Busting down doors. Flattening tires, taking batteries out of cars. Emptying out all the dressers of the kids and making them pick them up. Calling the kids names and withholding affection from them. Forcing me to make a video blog saying I am an alcoholic. Bringing alcohol into the house, drinking himself drunk with hard liquor to the point of passing out in the front yard in his underwear. Taking my keys and phone frequently so I can't communicate.. Not letting me out of his sight and if I was away from him forcing me to facetime him to prove where I was. Yes, I was in a deep depression, I've been in prison. I like to have fun karaoke and dressing up… he cut up my wigs to punish me.

    Job

I am 90% bread winner of the home.. He has been fired from several positions because of his anger issues.. I have ran the business for 2 years without his help and been very successful, while he rides on my coat tail. He also physically attacked a co worker in our office, then called the police on her.

    Suggestions

<Husband> needs anger management and a psychiatric evaluation. I am terrified of him and never know when he will flip his switch and become abusive again. It's almost every other day a different person/ scenario. The children are scared of him and he has even had my 17 year old admitted to psych ward when he got mad at her. A report was also filed by the family dr. Just 2 weeks ago after a report my daughter

made to the dr. about him and abuse… and the day he took the tpo is the day he was to interview with dfacs.. I believe he wanted me out of the picture.

    Final about Alcohol:

I do drink wine. Probably daily.. but not abusingly..Anyone would if they lived with the abuse I have to endure.. Fact I haven't needed to drink anything since being away from him this past 9 days..

    TPO

I fear for my life many days and would like to keep a tpo in affect from him.. The officer who came to the home in December advised me to get a tpo after they came to the home and I didn't. Because.. he was so sorry…. That's what always happens, when it's over, he's sorry.

What can I do to disassociate with them? The agent I'm using is partners with this group - but I don't want to associate with them.

    Sexism in work place

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:25 AM PDT

Here is the situation, my wife works at a family owned midsized company and during the day they have an open gym where people (guys) play basketball. She was invited by a few of the guys to play basketball during lunch and it was going well until, one day the owner came and played with them. The first day the owner made remarks about a girl playing with the guys, the second time he was extra physical during the course of the game and the third time they played he was normal and didnt make any issues. But a few days later an hr employee came to my wife and said the owner was concerned for her playing basketball and she may get hurt or inappropriately grabbed... but also mentioned that since a girl was playing they were unable to play the way they wanted. More or less he said she brings the level of play down while she is there. The only person who has an issue with it is one of the owners and a few of the other players have decided to boycott playing since it's this way. The owner has gone to the guys who organize the email chain for the games and have told them to remove her from the list. My question is, is this legal or is there not much she can do?

[CA] Non custodial parent trying to keep child longer than agreed time without permission.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 11:19 AM PDT

So as the title says, I have physical custody with joint legal custody between the two of us. She lives in Nevada and I in California where our order was made. She has a written letter with my permission to have him out of California from the last Friday to this coming friday. She has sent me multiple messages about how she planned to keep him for good, found out that she couldn't so she asked for an extra week and I said no. Now she says she's just going to keep him the extra week anyways. Our visitation is not scheduled on our agreement as I chose to go with the within reason option on visitation considering she's been out of state and this is her first visit that she's requested with him which I said no problem you have a week and we agreed on the days. My problem is who do I contact about getting him back on time. She had him for 2 days before telling me she was going to try and keep him, and this is her first visit in over a year since the court order was made. Sorry for any spelling errors or vagueness. I just want to know how to go about this.

Maintenance man unlocked my door for another person. (CO)

    Posted: 01 Aug 2018 05:16 PM PDT

I live alone and always lock my door, so I was surprised when a family member walked into my room. When asked how they got in they said that a maintenance man asked them if they wanted them to unlock the door for them. The family member has problems respecting boundaries and privacy, so I was not happy that they could just walk into my home without my consent or knowledge, however more troubling is the fact that someone would just ask a person that's knocking on my door if they want them to open it up for them. I have never met the maintenance man, and I don't believe the family member had met them before either. They had absolutely no way to verify the identity of the person they were letting into my home. The lease is in my name, and in my name only.

My question is: Are they allowed to let in a stranger into my home without my consent or knowledge? Would I be in my right to demand that this never happens again?

Apartment auto renewed us while moving to house???

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:18 AM PDT

So we tried to give our apartment a months notice that we're moving out - they're saying we can't do that since we haven't given 90 days notice (apparently this is in our lease). I live in Owings Mills, MD. They've auto renewed us for another year.

THE CATCH - they never warned us they were auto renewing. I'm seeing laws in other states claiming this is unenforceable. Shouldn't we just be able to leave and not pay anything???

    LEASE:

AUTOMATIC RENEWAL OF LEASE: The residency created under this Lease shall continue for a like term after its expiration, subject to the same terms and conditions set forth herein. If the Owner or the Resident decides not to renew this Lease, written notice of at least 90 days prior to the expiration date of the existing lease term, is required. If the Owner or Managing Agent mails a notice to the Resident of the Owner's intent to change the terms and conditions of this Lease, the Resident shall be conclusively deemed to have renewed said residency as stated in the written notice unless Resident gives notice to the contrary in writing, by Certified Mail-Return Receipt Requested, within ten (10) days, of the mailing of the Owner or Managing Agent's notice.

Company deposited $900+ bad check on mobile app

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 10:17 AM PDT

For a friend that doesn't use reddit...

I was trying to get a loan and the company I worked with deposited a bad check for over $900 through a mobile deposit. This check did not clear right away. The money was available for a few days.

After a few days, the bank came back and told me that the check was fraudulent and is expecting me to pay this back by tomorrow or they are threatening to sue me.

The thing is, this check should never have been deposited into my account because mobile depositing is not enabled/available on my account.

I'm trying to see what my options are, if I have any.

    Thanks for reading!

How to help someone in segregation/ Federal Prison (Help needed)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 06:01 AM PDT

My Fiancée has been placed in segregation, he has never been in trouble in the almost 10 years of being incarcerated but has now been in seg for almost a month. I have been contacting the institution trying to get a hold of his case manager/ councellor and his sisters/ aunts and my mother has also been contacting the prison. We have all been met with the same treatment, they have been hanging up on us, placing us on hold and then never picking up again each time we call requesting to speak to someone regarding him being in seg. I have been calling multiple time a day for about a week now, and not only have I been hung up on countless times and placed on hold over and over again...when I have managed to speak to someone they have flat out refused to let me speak to a supervisor/ councillor or any one other then them. I have asked for the names of the people I have spoken on the phone with, and they have refused to give it to me. I at one point asked if they could tell me if my fiancée was in good health or safe and was laughed at and then hung up on. They have been saying that his counsellor isn't available and to try the next day, each day they come up with some different story as to why I can not speak to her. I would love any type of advice...on what I can or should do? and about whether or not this is illegal? I don't know much about the prison system and I come from the U.K...so its difficult to feel like I have any type of power being so far away. His institution is in Pennsylvania. Thank you to anyone willing to offer me any type of help/ advice.
