What stocks are on your radar for this month

What stocks are on your radar this month. I keep eyeing more MU in hopes it will run up before earnings or maybe buy into Facebook if it gets any lower.

    Am I understanding buybacks correctly?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 01:37 AM PDT

At first, I was confused as to how it would increase the share price.

    Consider an extremely simple scenario:

Say a company is worth $100 with 10 shares oustanding ($10 per share).

The company buys back 5 shares (loses $50), so the company is now worth $50 with 5 shares oustanding. The price per share is still $10.

However, although the value of the company is the same, each share entitled to a greater portion of future earnings (EPS). Therefore, the price per share increases.

Am I thinking about this correctly? What am I missing?

    Categorical trade volume data needed.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 10:25 AM PDT

From where can I get the following data for Indian stocks (NSE) on daily basis :

    1.Foreign(institutional) traded volume

    2.(Domestic) Institutional traded volume

    3.(Domestic) Individual traded volume

P.S. I want it for academic research purpose. I have looked for it on nseindia site but wasn't able to find it.

Can you suggest any official/unofficial source to get these data?

    That feeling...

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 01:40 PM PDT

That feeling when you only invested in a couple shares of a stock (Callaway in this case) a couple days ago. Then it goes up 6.72% after market-close by beating its quarterly earning expectations by 34%. Good feeling it's up but then also a realization of why you didn't buy more.

    Edit: 6.98% now

Is JetBlue stock worth a buy?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 10:30 AM PDT

JetBlue (JBLU) is the 6th largest US airline. I have this gut feeling they will be bought by another airline down the road.

Is their stock worth a Buy despite their recent fuel costs and new labor contracts? I'm in it for the long run but want other peoples' opinions.

    SONOS IPO discussion

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 10:14 AM PDT

What prices did you buy in and what are you expecting in the future?

I got in at 17,4 x64 shares. Its currently at 18,80.

Im thinking of holding it long. A lot of smart AI being made by leading tech companies around the globe and Sonos is in a perfect growth position to capitalize on that front.

The new and improved (test) Google AI that was shown a month or so ago where it talks very humanely could be huge in the next 5 years for this market. For smart speakers it would allow it to feel more "human". This could have huge effects on the market that Sonos is in and I hope they could capitalize on it.

More people wanting smart human AI in their house, more people buying their speakers (especially audiophiles, these speakers are a lot better than the standard ones APPL/Google give you).

    CWK IPO

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 12:23 PM PDT

Anyone have any thoughts about this real estate IPO? With the current political climate being the way it is maybe real estate is a safer option. Recently the tech IPOs have been flying during the initial days of listing, not sure how to play this one.

    Company mergers.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 09:51 AM PDT

How does a company merger work in the stock market. Since I've heard that TMobile and sprint are merging soon, how does this affect the stock price of the two and will they become one stock?

How do you value a growth company?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:47 AM PDT

A lot of the metrics I'm accustomed to use EPS to value a company. This doesn't seem to be a good way to value companies that are in growth mode like amazon or tesla. Even PEG ratio only looks at the growth of profits of a company. Is there a good way to value a company based something like revenue growth as well as profits?

My current method I'm tinkering with is MktCap/(revgrowth+profits) Where profits is the sum gross profits of the last four quarters. And rev growth is the revenue increase from 5 quarters ago. I get all this info from the financials page from yahoo finance or nasdaq etc.

I'm still not sure whether I should use gross profits or operating income as the profits portion of my equation.

Edit: I thought I should let you guys know that I'm fairly new to reddit and stocks so noob friendly advice is welcomed.

What marijuana investments / stock are you watching or invested in?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 02:34 PM PDT

I am very curious to hear about what people are watching, expecting, or invested in within the Marijuana space. So much is happening there and I am interested in getting involved, but not familiar with the opportunities out there.

    Good financial stock?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 02:32 PM PDT

I would love to get a recommendation on a good long term Financial stock. I already hold positions in V and SQ. I was looking into WFC but there seems to be a lot of baggage with their recent history. Thoughts on JPM and BAC? Thanks!

    Thoughts on Square? (SQ)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:27 AM PDT

So I have had Square for a while now and it seems to do surprisingly well. . It being paired for BTC makes for an even greater outcome as it already has a name on the market. The problem is they announced they aren't going to monetize BTC on their app as of right now. Is this something to keep an eye on or do you think it will just fall flat?

    Facebook to monetize WhatsApp

To all those who are still concerned about investing in FB, read this article.

Now is definitely the best time to invest in FB , given most of the drop in the price has already occurred and it is holding at a resistance level of around 170.

JD.com should be exploding but isn’t moving

    When to buy more Tencent

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:12 AM PDT

I own a bunch of Tencent and truly believe in the company. With that said, I got crushed by getting into it @ $59..

Wondering when you all think it makes sense to buy more. I could dollar cost average and just keep buying on way down if I believe in it's long term growth so I get that. However, ideally I make one big purchase near its bottom.

Anyone have estimates or any ideas?

    $FIT

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:33 AM PDT

Just watched the $FIT CEO on CNBC and this guy couldn't answer a question directly. They were softball questions that shouldn't be hard to answer. One of the worst CEO segments I've seen in a while. If you were not suspect of FIT before his segment, you will likely be now. Good luck FIT Longs.
