Absolute vs. Relative performance in Klarman's Margin of Safety Posted: 06 Jul 2018 06:27 AM PDT So I've been reading Margin of Safety and one of the things Klarman says is that it's wrong for investors to focus on relative performance, and instead they should just focus on absolute performance. I want to agree with him, but the question I have is, if I don't know how other potential avenues for investment will do for me, how can I be sure that it's worth putting in the time and effort to manage everything myself? If I put in the effort to buy individual securities, but only return 5%, why not just put my money in an index or hedge fund? Maybe I'm just misinterpreting what he's saying. [link] [comments] |
