    Why is business so cutthroat/ruthless?

I honestly love it. The competitive environment and survival of the fittest mentality is perfect for me, but why is it that business is so much more ruthless than other fields?

Want to start a dogsitting/walking business in home. Advice for first timer?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 05:15 PM PDT

    Hello!

I'm new to this sub, and hoping for some helpful advice.

I'm 24, currently not employed due to extenuating health reasons, and would like to start a dog-walking/dog-sitting business. I'd like to service my neighborhood and run it from my home. Some things about me:

    • live in central Toronto
    • extensive experience with dogs
    • never started a business before

Where's the best place to start? I've lived in my neighborhood for a year now. I freelance in writing and design, and would like to be earning more money/diving into business ownership.

I guess my most immediate questions would be

    1. What kind of business certificate, if any, do I need to get when starting off?
    2. The best marketing tactic (Flyers, ads, Kijiji/Craigslist, etc.) to build a client base?

Sorry if these aren't even the right questions to be asking.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

Hello, fellow entrepreneurs! As most of us here,I am constantly thinking of ways to make innovations and work on different projects,My main goal at the moment is to make an app and website for services in all kind of areas specifically in my hometown.Basically my idea is to connect people with agencies more easily and effective. For example,if someone needs their sink or air conditioner to be repaired,he opens the app, choses the best company and they go and fix the issue. This can be implied into many other spheres and I believe is quite practical.Which are the steps that I should take in order to make this possible?I will be glad if you guys, and I am sure you do,have any recommendations and feel that this is a good project and it's worth the effort.

I've been given an Opportunity to sell and imported product to local head shops and want your experience selling to small businesses.

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 12:33 PM PDT

I have been talking to a kratom supplier from Indonesia (not a scammer) who I've proposed selling his product to businesses in my area. I've never done something like this before but I've taken business and accounting classes before. Here are the skills I want to learn about:

1.)I want to get an idea of how I should initially reach out to these businesses and begin a relationship.

2a.)How do I incentivize potential buyers to buy from us? Should I give them the wholesale prices and suggest what prices they should sell at? 2b.)Is there a profit margin I should suggest i.e I sell you $85/kilo and you can sell it for $100/kilo. Therefore you will make $15/kilo.

3.)How should I be payed? Should I ask for a commission-based payroll and also 2% of the profit accrued from each customer I supply. i.e $200 per business sold to plus 2% of the gross income from each business sold to.

4.)Where do I find information on how to receive a W-2 from a business outside of the USA?

5.)How do I secure my workers rights and make sure my employer doesn't screw me over?
