Posted: 30 May 2018 09:25 AM PDT Hi, I am a relatively new investor, started investing last year in July. Would like to ask what should I look for in valuing bank stocks? According to Peter Lynch "Beating the Street" he mentioned that he looks out for strong local deposit base and efficient, careful commercial leader. Is there anything else I should be wary of? Some background knowledge of myself: - I strongly believe in fundamental analysis, particularly value investing - Believes in buying stocks at a discount - Looks for great companies to hold for 3-5years Would greatly appreciate your guidance and knowledge. Posted: 29 May 2018 10:47 PM PDT After Pokémon go was released Nintendo went from about $19 to $33 a week later a nice little spike and its been climbing since with the switch. I'm pretty new to trading but I thought I'd throw out my two cents. After hours they announced two more Pokémon games which will be for the switch rather than just owning some of the rights to the app. They'll release in November for the holidays but I'm gonna speculate and say there will be a nice little bump because of it. If anyone disagrees I would genuinely like to know your opinions. Edit: spelling [link] [comments] |

EDIT vs CRSPR. Which one is better suited for the long run? Posted: 30 May 2018 06:35 AM PDT Recently bought some EDIT and wondered whether CRSPR was a better option. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 01:48 PM PDT ...down $17/share last I checked, and that was just after closing two cents short of an all-time high today. Looks like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has placed a clinical hold on the Investigational New Drug Application (IND) for CTX001 for the treatment of sickle cell disease pending the resolution of certain questions that will be provided by the FDA as part of its review of the IND. Anyone planning to buy this huge dip? Or do you read this as a warning sign to stay away? [link] [comments] |
Who is watching / holding AAXN? Posted: 30 May 2018 08:50 AM PDT I want to buy in but not sure of my entry point. Any opinions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2018 07:42 PM PDT I believe we will see $ZOES continue upward. By breaking $9 today it form a support and no real resistance until $11.50. The stock is way oversold. It has a market cap of 170 million on 380 revenue. RSI is 16 and the stock sold off further than it should. Also 98% insider and institutional leaves the float very tiny! [link] [comments] |
The Completion of the “Event Horizon Telescope” Posted: 30 May 2018 11:46 AM PDT "A long standing goal in astrophysics is to directly observe the immediate environment of a black hole with angular resolution comparable to the event horizon" https://eventhorizontelescope.org/about After the completion of this, "This capability would open a new window on the study of general relativity in the strong field regime, accretion and outflow processes at the edge of a black hole, the existence of event horizons, and fundamental black hole physics." Therefore; my question begs. What may be a fundamental next step where by there is an advantage to be taken, a stock to be bought, a price to be going to the moon, with us on the ship. Seeking advice and opinion on regional bank stocks Posted: 30 May 2018 07:01 AM PDT I am looking to add a smaller/regional bank stock to my portfolio. I have seen them making good gains since the recession and believe, even now, some are good buys. Opinions on this? What do think are most important fundamentals, etc to look at? There is one in particular I am looking at, Nasdaq:IBCP , if anyone has any comments on that as well. Thank you [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 02:14 PM PDT If someone buys a stock at 100$ and gives it to me at $1000, when sold do I pay tax at a basis of 100 or 1000? In theory could someone in a higher tax bracket give their shares to someone in a lower one to reduce taxes? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 02:11 PM PDT I was trying to buy stocks from a Mexican company called Volaris I went to my local stockbroker but he said the stocks must be registered in my country to buy them. So is there a place where I can buy stocks? Or am I just out of luck and need to read/research more before trying to get into the stock market? [link] [comments] |

Where could I find details on a company's sales allocation and their current client list? Posted: 30 May 2018 01:55 PM PDT I'm looking for some breakdown of which clients make up the largest portion of a company's sales. The end goal is to find out where a company's revenue is flowing from (by percentage). Specifically, what percentage of a company's sales is in exports. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2018 10:00 PM PDT Should we expect a bust or a boom? I feel the company is overvalued and May see further downside on their first results with the COO resigning. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 01:05 PM PDT SEDG took a bit of a dump today, and I lost $200. That's a hefty sum for me to lose, so I don't really want to sell right now, but my $55 call option expires 6/15, so if it gets worse before 6/15 I do want to cut my losses. With the current state of SEDG, do I sell or do I hold? [link] [comments] |
Artificial Intelligence stocks Posted: 30 May 2018 12:39 PM PDT Hi all r/stocks. In this coming age of AI, I would like to invest more into leading Technology companies. The technology sector is going hard and investing time and resources in AI and cloud services. with that being said, Nvidia, Google, and Amazon are kinda out my preferred price range. I already have stocks from AMD,Micron, and Google. I want to know why you guys think about Microsoft, IBM, and/or Intel? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 12:28 PM PDT Anyone else have a position in this? Charts look good but I'm wondering how long I should hold for? Earnings coming after-hours today too. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 07:50 AM PDT Any idea why Heico is getting absolutely demolished right now? They beat all their estimates yesterday by a healthy amount, but they're down big today [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 May 2018 10:08 PM PDT Hello all! Been lurking for a bit, and was wondering if anyone has some advice for me. I've been doing a ESPP for Best Buy for quite some time, probably a good 8 years plus, and lately I've been thinking of getting rid of some or all of it to invest in other places. I do get dividends from it which is nice, but its not a huge amount, I wanna say I get like $300 every 6 months I think, I forget exactly how much. Anyways, I almost sold quite a lot of it when It peaked a few weeks ago, It was right around $78 a share, highest its been in, well, ever I think. Then It took quite the dip recently and seems to slowly be getting lower and lower. I have close to 500 shares, and my gain is right around 148% since I started buying them early. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what I should do, hold out, sell and invest elsewhere or maybe sell a portion. I've never really invested and traded before (other than selling small portions when I really need the money) so was just hoping to get some opinions of people who may know more than me. Thanks! Posted: 30 May 2018 11:08 AM PDT looking to diversify a bit more, is there any publicly listed company in China with real R&D - tech, industry, medical etc? R&D will be the primary focus of government and should benefit greatly from policies. Baidu's AI is dead now that the CEO left and they went back to sell fake ads. $BABA does little R&D, neither does $JD, $TCEHY? What else? Not their electric cars too incompetitive. Posted: 30 May 2018 11:05 AM PDT Hi All, Aside from a 401K with fidelity I have 3 core accounts with TD. Individual(larger than Roth), Roth(smallest) and traditional IRA(largest). Aside from getting into options, I have tried many strategies. I gave dedicated day trading once and lost my ass. So, I have been been doing the active trading and learning about active vs passive and had TD manage a portion of my IRA for a few months. I stopped that because I think I can accomplish the same sort of approach without paying them. I'm not really lazy and so I'm willing to put in some work, but this is where I get to my question. These are what I hold positions on now. You will see I have some positions on stocks that I am just waiting to dump, but is it sill our counter productive to have this sort of mix with small positions spread around or should I be consolidating into just a few. I have a feeling a got a little carried away with diversifying and the passive approach. My current thought process was to transition both IRA's to passive with an occasional re balance and keep the individual for various short terms plays. Posted: 30 May 2018 11:00 AM PDT However with this news from Apple, plus all the other potential OLED applications in TVs, wearables and lighting the stock is beginning to looks interesting again with a valuation of 30x next year earnings. Thats not cheap but the opportunities are pretty huge and OLED owns the patents. This post is not a recommendation to buy or sell any security or derivative. Stocks are not suitable for all investors. Please do your own research. https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/05/29/why-universal-display-corporation-stock-popped-tod.aspx [link] [comments] |
