Posted: 11 Mar 2018 09:29 PM PDT I've been in business for about 4 months doing custom woodworking based projects and installs. The first 3 months I had 3 total orders at about $1500 per order. The first week of March I took 4 orders averaging about $1600. This weekend I did my first home show and the response so far has been amazing. I estimate I'm going to get around 20 total orders in the next 3 months for the show alone. My existing customers are also telling their friends that want me to do work for them. Here is my problem. My initial business credit card is maxed out at 5k. I've reinvested almost all money from the first jobs back in the business and am now starting to be profitable. Most of my projects are large and I have to rent a trailer to transport them. I have the financial numbers to show that I need to expand beyond myself working out of a garage. I need a large van and a bigger space. What would be the best place to go for funding and what would I need to show them to get approved. Also, how do I convince the wife (who is steadfast that I need to wait a year)? [link] [comments] |
Any dispensary experience here ? Posted: 11 Mar 2018 06:10 PM PDT Looking for general info on the ins and outs of owning a recreational marijuana dispensary. This will be located in Canada but interested in hearing stories from around the world. [link] [comments] |
Anyone have experience with website ad managers for Wordpress? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 02:10 AM PDT Hi all, Not sure what sub to post this on, but I thought some of you might run advertisements on your websites and could give me advice! I currently use AdRotate Pro for Wordpress, but I need to find something else because AdRotate doesn't track my ad statistics correctly (tracks WAY more impressions than they actually get, and doesn't track actual clicks - kind of pointless when I need to give that info to my advertisers). Does anyone use anything that tracks ad stats reliably? Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Does anyone here make a profit from print-on-demand dropshipping? Posted: 11 Mar 2018 11:09 PM PDT Just looking for info whether or not it's actually profitable to dropship print on demand clothing? [link] [comments] |
How to start a business in the service industry? No inventory needed, etc Posted: 11 Mar 2018 08:30 PM PDT I'm looking to start my own LLC focusing on reorganizing, decluttering, etc, services for small customers, either people's homes or very small businesses. Questions... do I have to have an LLC to get started? Or can I just start putting my name out there for hire and get some cash flow first? How does insurance work? Am I covered by their homeowners insurance if I am working on something and say a shelf collapses on me? I assume I should carry my own hazard insurance? What if I'm working and their shelf collapses and breaks some of their stuff? Who's at fault? Do I need to have waivers for this type of issue? I'm totally new to this, and it seems pretty easy since I don't need a space to do business or inventory. I just kinda need to get my name out there, but I'm clueless as to the business aspect. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
iOS App for simple transactions? Have no set inventory or prices. Posted: 11 Mar 2018 06:58 PM PDT Need some advice for a easy to use POS system. I have been looking for a system preferably on IOS that cash, credit or gift card sales can be tendered and stored onto a cloud. Quickbooks, Sage simply Accounting and RQ4 all require predetermined stock or prices . We are Currently we are using a cash drawer and debit machine. It has been working however when a incorrect amount is entered trying to void the transaction gets messy and skus the entire days cash. I have found lots of systems but are all reliant on invoicing or cataloged inventory with set prices. Is there such a system that can be put into place with existing debit/credit machine that can run off a iPad/iPhone? All it needs to do is punch in a price and select payment type and tender. Any information is greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Buying Business Supplies through personal prime account? Posted: 11 Mar 2018 05:49 PM PDT Hey guys, so amazon is cheap on lots of thing. But I have prime on my personal account and not for my business. I know it is bad practice to mix personal and business financials, but should I purchase these same items for a higher price to use in business just so finances are all separate? It seems so illogical. Doesn't make sense to pay for prime through personal and business. I ain't even profitable so I gotta want to minimize costs as much as possible [link] [comments] |
Inventory and receipt tracking? Posted: 11 Mar 2018 03:12 PM PDT I'm a former SE (read: loves data) that is contemplating moving into wood working as a way to stay at home, enjoy a hobby, and make just enough money. I'm wondering what people use as single business owners to track material cost, sales, etc. I see a lot of 800 pound gorillas in simple searches, or recommendations that are like "this software worked great for my small business of 20 people". Inexpensive and simple would be best, but if mega software is best in the long run I can learn it. Also, if the answer is "spreadsheet software", I can do that. I just don't want to invest time and energy in a database that can't easily be ported to a "real" system if the business takes off. So, I'm trying not to track stuff in notepad :) Any suggestions? Edit: thank you all for the responses! A couple clarifications that might help: 1. I'll only ever have myself working in this business. 2. All sold items are likely to be unique. 3. For my own sake I'll likely want to track the profit on different designs. So knowing material cost, time effort, and sell price would be important for each item. 4. Tracking all this for tax purposes :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Mar 2018 02:13 PM PDT I often browse the Franchise websites that list different types of Franchises out there just to see what is out there and if their is any opportunity in certain services that franchises are making a killing in. Someone posted on here about 1-800 Got Junk and I just seem to think that paying these high Franchise fees is ridiculous and maybe find a simple to do Franchise and mimic it. I've seen Doody Calls, which is a friggen pet poop cleanup business and their franchising all over the place or Window Cleaning by Men in Kilts, they actually clean your windows in Kilts their t-shirts and slogan say "Don't Peek"! Now all of these seem like pretty simple ideas that anyone can mimic, I mean 1-800 Got Junk is charging 200K for a franchise, couldn't someone with enough hustle, have a good chance at stealing some of the market and put their 200K in to building a business on their own? What are some franchises that you cant believe are killing it out there? I see Mosquito Squad out there, seems pretty simple and seems smarter to use the cost of a franchise fee to buy equipment and business related needs. [link] [comments] |

Tips for multi-generation family company? Posted: 11 Mar 2018 11:02 AM PDT I'm working with an awesome group of younger kids (25-30) who are taking a company over from their father. He's successfully owned and operated for 20+ years, and is getting ready to retire. There are 3 different mindsets from the 3 kids taking it over. 1) baby out with the bath water: new logo, new brand, new processes. 2) everything status quo: it worked for their dad for so many years, why change it? 3) peacekeeper, strategist in disguise: has incredible ideas that blend old and new, but the softest spoken and least experienced. Ends up keeping peace between the other two. After our first session I gave them some tools for working on the conflicts, but I get the feeling this is going to be an ongoing battle. In addition to this, it's a slow changeover with the father continuing to work cash jobs for the foreseeable future. I'm working with a lot of dynamics, and wanted to see if there were any thoughts on advice to offer the family during the transition. Few other thoughts: they have to scale. Will need enough work to support 3 households instead of 1. Small business ownership is a completely new concept to the kids, and dad is fairly old school in his approach. Official handoff isn't happening until Aug/Sept 2018. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
How much do you pay your social media influencer? Posted: 11 Mar 2018 07:58 AM PDT Hi. I'd like to offer products or money to some influencers, but I'm not sure how much, I don't want to offend anyone by offering too little and I don't want to pay too much either , if I don't have to. Any suggestions? Thank you [link] [comments] |
Is this business profitable and how do I get started? Posted: 11 Mar 2018 07:39 AM PDT I want to setup a self service currency exchange kiosk in shopping malls, hotels and the airport. How profitable is this and how do I go about getting permission to setup on the premises? I'm assuming I'll have to also pay rent to these properties? [link] [comments] |

Basic programming for my Entrepreneur / CEO friends ? Posted: 11 Mar 2018 04:51 AM PDT So I'm a programmer with plenty of friends who are entrepreneurs and small business owners. And once every few weeks, I get a call from some of them, asking for help. They hired a company or an individual developer, and the product wasn't what they were expecting, the price was way off, they don't understand each other and so on. Most of their problems come from not understand much about technology nor programming. So I was thinking.. is there like a quick course on development for Entrepreneurs / CEOs, not focused on learning to code, but on understanding how coding works and how to work with programmers ? How did you guys do it? I tried Google and Udemy but I can't seem to use the right keywords. [link] [comments] |
Help with restaurant delivery services Posted: 10 Mar 2018 09:16 PM PST Hey all, NY based and have been looking into different food delivery options for a small restaurant. New to this so I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone could help me with: 1. Do you employ your own deliveryman? How many deliveries an hour is he expected to make on peak hours? What do you do with that person at off peak hours? 2. Do you use Uber eats or caviar? Is it worth it? 3. Are there any other services I should look into? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
