Ways to justify or calculate how much labor hours I should have

    Posted: 10 Mar 2018 09:23 PM PST

I just got a promotion at the beginning of the quarter and business has been booming! I work in retail and it's tax season so people are spending what they got. Obviously Saturday's are pretty hectic. I run a 2.5 million dollar store, I only get 260 hours a week to run it. I ask my dm for more hours but he keeps giving me the shaft. Is there a way for me to calculate the amount of hour I feel like I should have? Is there some sort of labor hours calculator where I can punch in my sales/traffic and get an estimate on my labor?

How do you build startups involving software development?

    Posted: 10 Mar 2018 12:18 PM PST

    Hello,

Most of my startup ideas involve software developing, for which i have no skills.

How do you usually build your software idea? Do you first wait for investments and then hire developers? Do i need to learn software development for creating a landing page or an mvp product?

I'm considering bespoke software development from teams like QwertyBit or Dclssoftware, but I'm not sure if it would be more profitable to learn coding for MVP products.

Discuss: "Don’t make your process “dummy-proof.”" - Reed Hastings

    Posted: 10 Mar 2018 12:34 PM PST

    Source

What do you think of this quote?

I used to be very anti-process in my youth, but as I've gotten older and hopefully wiser, after seeing so many mistakes made that blow up lately, and dealing with extremely complex software systems, I've recently become a subscriber of the "Checklist Manifesto". It has helped my work tremendously and gives a calming order to my work.

But on the other hand Reed Hastings is a brilliant man and I'm afraid to disagree with him. I just don't know what to think when my direct experience favors checklists and process.

It could also depend a lot on one's line of work. In my opinion, maintaining mature software systems that millions of people depend upon to do their daily work requires some sort of process/checklist to avoid catastrophic failures.

Attempting to start my own “Rolled Ice Cream” shop, need help looking for suppliers

    Posted: 10 Mar 2018 09:22 AM PST

    Hello Reddit

I will keep this short and get straight to the point. I am attempting to open my own rolled ice cream shop in my town which is near the Philadelphia suburbs. Currently I have almost everything ready except for the most important part, which is looking for a supplier. I have looked into suppliers for ice cream shops, but any tips/recommendations would be much appreciated. Thank you
