Posted: 08 Feb 2018 08:11 PM PST Obviously interest rates are a huge element for valuing financial institutions.. But, consider AAPL; they hold enormous cash+cash equivalents. Do they disclose what these holdings are, specifically? I am wondering because given how quickly interest rates have risen, it would probably be quite bad for their book value if they hold a significant component of 2+ year bonds if they plan to use that cash soon, which they have indicated. Otherwise, however, they are in good position to add a significant addition to the bottom line just from interest income. In the case of BRK (or other insurance companies, for that matter), as I understand, the float is primarily very short term bonds. All else aside, this should be a significant boost for their insurance division earnings for the foreseeable future, right? [link] [comments] |

"User guide" question for Full-Text Search on SEC Edgar Posted: 08 Feb 2018 06:38 AM PST Hey All, I like to review a lot of 10-k and 10-q reports among others while looking for opportunities. But it annoys me that you do not only see for example the 10-q, you also see all the XML files etc. On the link below I show the 10-Qs from this week, you see that you have to scoll quite a bit before you get to the "parent filing". Is there something that could be done about this, so it is only the parent filing? [link] [comments] |
