Posted: 24 Feb 2018 11:57 AM PST I remember last year people were investing so much in amd because of the ryzen hype. Now the stock is stable at pretty much 12$ but they sold a lot of gpus due to mining and they're announcing new cpus in this semester. Also 2017 was a nice year comparing it to previous income statements. What do you think? [link] [comments] |

This video clip from 2006 gave me goosebumps Posted: 23 Feb 2018 09:20 PM PST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfascZSTU4o Yes, its Peter Schiff and yes he has been saying the same thing since ever but I was looking for videos around this time because it was a a year before the recession which is where I believe we currently are in the economic cycle. So interesting to see that we have come full circle. There's no mortgage crisis but we have more and more debt, yields are rising, we've had a strong run up in the stock market....I'd argue though, the American consumer is more fragile now then back in 2006.....more debt, less home equity, fewer full-time jobs, less savings etc [link] [comments] |
What are your opinions on my watch list for Monday? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 02:09 PM PST I had a shitty week last week and want to make some gains back this coming week. Tell me your opinions on my watch list. :)List [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 03:49 AM PST Someone mentioned the other day that $SHE (the gender diversity ETF) has under-performed the market. I don't plan to do this, but if I were to take out short position on $SHE and long position on $SPY (assuming they're similar sized positions) would this allow me to hedge market risk and bet solely against gender diversity? Is there a better way to achieve this? Never tried this before, but I've been feeling uneasy about general market conditions and this would allow me to set up trades where I don't have to worry about the market. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:28 PM PST Just read today that DropBox (DBX) Just filed for IPO today 2/23/18. I am thinking about buying in. Would like other opinions from people that have been investing longer than I have. I only started investing about a year ago. Edit: Link to Tech Crunch Article https://techcrunch.com/2018/02/23/the-dropbox-ipo-filing-is-here/ [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 02:16 PM PST Geely/Li Shufu just bought 9% of Mercedes Benz. As someone who lived in China for a long time, I can count on one hand how many Mercedes Benz vehicles I saw there. You have basically everything else, but I very rarely saw Mercedes being driven around for whatever reason That coupled with Geely being able to now tap into Mercedes and their electrical vehicle expertise is a huge connection. I've been in for 3 months, missed the opportunity to buy more on their recent pullback This is a screaming buy if you ask me. Especially since Beijing wants 90% of vehicles to be electric by 2025 Geely also owns all of Volvo who expects to be 100% electrical by 2019 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 01:19 PM PST Had some extra cash and decided to invest. I am an ultra beginner at investing so I went in on something I like. Mushrooms are good so why not. Is an over allotment option good? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 12:15 PM PST Hey guys, I was wondering can you see real-time future information on the weekend? For example the S&P 500 futures. I can see them real-time after normal trading hours on the weekdays but I was wondering if there was a market tracker for something on the weekend. Thanks@ [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 11:54 AM PST The automod keeps removing my post because there isn't enough text in the body. However, the title, "I've been reading about the PNB fraud in India and I'm curious if/how this could affect the US market?" pretty much encompasses my only question. I'm having PTSD flashbacks to padding essays in undergrad. [link] [comments] |
What happened to SEDG in 2015? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 10:56 AM PST In 2015, SEDG dropped from ~$42 to ~$17 in a few months. Does anyone know why that happened? [link] [comments] |
What are the 3 best stocks to invest in now that are in 3 different sectors? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 10:16 PM PST Hi guys, I'm just getting into stocks now and I'm trying to figure out what the 3 best stocks to invest in that are in 3 different sectors would be and the reason as to why Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
At what % of gain are you comfortable with before realising if day trading? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:03 PM PST Just curious about people's opinion on this. Also, happy Friday! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 08:17 AM PST What are your thoughts on the potential of Nanoflu? NVAX reports trial results (phase 1/2) by the end of the month. With the flu being devastating Nanoflu could be very useful. [link] [comments] |
If I buy X amount of shares in company XYZ during after hours a day before Posted: 24 Feb 2018 06:44 AM PST Is it still day trading? This is frustrating, but I assume I was marked because even though I bought the shares a day before, the order isn't actually executed until the following day(during market hours I assume). Am I correct? Thanks for any help. [link] [comments] |
Any thoughts on Aurora Cannabis? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 10:18 AM PST I don't own any cannabis stock yet, and this stock recently took a bit of a dive. Was thinking of getting in, although I think it may drop some more yet. Any opinions on this stock? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2018 02:32 PM PST Can anyone explain how this "volatility stock"works? I'm super confused does it do well when the market is volatile and do poorly when the market is stable? Where and how is the money managed? Is it used to short? [link] [comments] |
Which brokerage do you use and why? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:09 PM PST Thinking of transferring my brokerage and wondering what the pros and cons are of different brokerages? [link] [comments] |
What's a good index for international exposure? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 09:00 PM PST Any advice? Developed or emerging or everything. Any advice? Do these ever pay off? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2018 02:43 PM PST I keep seeing people asking what the outlook is for such and such stock, index or the market as a whole. IMO the only number to look at is the 10 year treasury yield. That is the single thing moving markets right now and for the near future. If you're a buy and hold for life investor, this should not concern you too much. However if you are sitting there and deciding if you should invest in company x right now, 3 months from now, 6 months from now......the price you will pay will largely be dependent on where that 10 yr bold yield is at (probably more so than the actual fundamentals of that particular stock). If the yield goes down or stays flat, the rally likely continues as we saw today. If it jumps up, and especially when it flirts with key levels 3%....3.5%.....expect a market sell-off. I find it funny when analysts shrug this point off saying that the only reason yields are going up is because the economy is doing well and this is a positive sign....blah...blah.....if that's the case then the market wouldn't be shitting its pants with huge sell-offs every time it goes up a few basis points. Sorry if this was overly simplifying things but it has been something I've been keeping a close eye on and I rarely see it mentioned when people bring up tax cuts, spectacular earnings, etc as reasons for the bull market continuing on course. Why do utility stock charts look the same? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 05:54 PM PST Look at D and Xcel for example - nearly the same every day! [link] [comments] |
Is it too late to invest in Shopify (SHOP)? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 06:27 PM PST I think it may be, but I'm not sure. I made a video talking about the name (check the link below), but to me, the long-term structural change in e-commerce isn't worth the risk that Shopify has. The company still isn't self-sufficient yet (which bothers me), but I see the potential in the stock. What do you think? [link] [comments] |
