My portfolio is up 30% and I am still worried about the correction

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 07:41 AM PST

I need some help with the mental aspect of investing. The last months I have been doing very well, and my portfolio is up 30% in 2018.

So why I am still panicking and stressing over a small correction? I am worried about losing unrealized gains, and less happy over getting the return I am. How can I change this?

    I finally did it!

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 01:10 PM PST

I finally invested thousands into carefully researched stocks, in order to begin securing my financial security both long and short term. A day before this sea of red, at what seems now to be at peak price of the Bull cycle. What are my options in removing a pagan, possibly gypsy, curse?

    What happened at 3:10 EST?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 12:22 PM PST

I just watched every stock on my watch list dip something like 10% in the matter of a few minutes, and then almost all have started to rebound, what just happened? Looks like its everything, since both spy and qqq did the same.

V, thinking about buying, why is this stock so beloved on here?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 07:40 AM PST

I must admit that I pretty much only buy tech companies and that is what my portfolio is made of is 100% tech, but I always see nothing but praise for V on here and as a potential investor, just wondering what makes this stock/company so great and loved. Thanks!

Down 9% in 2 days, but I'm buying more. Buy the dip!

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 12:44 PM PST

    Good afternoon all,

I lost 1.9% on Friday and 7.5% today on my SPY holdings (50% of total cash). I bought on Thursday, leveraged on Friday and leveraging even more at market close on Monday.

Market is oversold. When the market is oversold then it's time to buy. I was wrong Friday, I might be wrong today, but the market forces will force stocks to bounce higher. They can't keep falling and won't.

Don't let panic influence your decisions. Instead take advantage of others emotions to make money for yourself.

Full disclosure: I am 2.2 leveraged into SPY, in 10 minutes I'll be leveraging to 3.6. Since it's 50% of my cash, it will be 1.8 (my cash+80%).

Leveraged ETFs during a sell off

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 12:53 PM PST

I have several 3x leveraged ETFs (TQQ, DDM, etc) that are as expected dropping like rocks with this market sell off. I understand that leveraged ETFs drop quicker than they gain, how do you play these during corrections such as this?

Tips to calm someone about market correction?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 12:46 PM PST

Any tips on preventing someone from panic selling? I know someone down 5% and wants to sell everything - I just introduced them to the market. Has never experienced a correction and appears very risk averse. Is considering avoiding the market for retirement and just putting $ in a savings account instead - is talking market "crashing" (like '08)

If stocks fall don't bonds usually go up?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 07:56 AM PST

BACK to the fundamentals!!! Help me understand the situation where bonds do not rise when stocks fall?

SO....i was told by a finance guy that the traditional stock and bonds diversified portfolio outdated – that so you should remain only in full stocks and a cash position as a "modern strategy".

I did not follow this "advice" as it seems every single published thing i can find advises us the diversified stock/bond portfolio is where its at.

However, this stocks/cash strategy definitely seems to hold weight of course in the last run up and current situation of the market, whereas if I was invested in stocks only I would be much farther ahead, AND bonds are falling right along with stocks.

    THanks!

To whom ever brought up $BPMX last week I want to thank you.

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 02:13 PM PST

I bought 300 shares at .10 cents a piece and it's up to .20 cents in a week. It may not be much money but for someone new it's fun to see growth even if we aren't even dealing with dollar amounts.

How far in the red (or green) did you guys go today?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2018 12:58 PM PST

So since I started investing (about 1.5 years ago), today was my first big drop. I'm down ~3.5%. I haven't sold anything, but it was pretty stressful to watch. So hows your portfolio looking?
