Posted on eBay reddit and PayPal reddit. Decided to continue pursuing a PayPal appeal before getting a lawyer since that would be more costly.

I filed a local police report, USPIS report, FBI report and submitted all of that plus pictures, eBay information, tracking numbers, everything I had. PayPal went silent for a week once I started the appeal.

Then after a week I got an email saying my fax didn't have enough information. I never sent a fax though. Tried calling them...could never get through? Decided to reach out to them on twitter asking about the fax. They never responded to that but apologized for the delay and said they were escalating to a specialist now.

This morning I woke up to an email saying PayPal is issuing me a refund. This is their final decision and cannot be appealed by the buyer.

I will still be pushing law enforcement to engage in his fraud/attempted fraud. Hopefully this can still help the other guy that got scammed by him too.

Now I wait for what this buyer will do next... but for now I won a PayPal case despite their infamous record and I feel okay.

Thank you everyone for advice and good wishes!

[NC] Employer drug tested me, and also gave me a pregnancy test...?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2018 04:42 PM PST

I've been with my company for 2 years now. I recently applied for a different position, and got it. We're required to submit to a drug test any time we change positions, which is fine, I wasn't worried.

Our drug tests are done in house. Yesterday, I went to give my urine specimen, and was told by the HR woman to just leave it in the bathroom and go back to work, that she would check it in a second.

Today, I get to work and my supervisor congratulates me on being pregnant, and tells me they'll be speaking to me about the position later. Bewildered, I asked what she meant. Apparently I was not only tested for drugs, but given a pregnancy test (not sure how, unless they literally dipped a stick in or used a dropper after the fact?) without my consent/knowledge.

I left work almost immediately and bought tests on the way home. I am indeed pregnant and have NO desire to keep it, and will be scheduling an abortion ASAP.

The other issue is that my supervisor KNOWS. I don't know who else. Unless I fake a miscarriage, they'll know I aborted and that seems like a ton of workplace drama I should have been able to avoid.

Is this legal? What are my options here? I'm afraid when I go back to work, it'll be all over the factory and I'll have to figure out a lie.

Woke Up with 1600 Strip Club Tab- what next?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 07:49 AM PST

Hey guys, so long story here. I haven't drank in about 4 months and some co-workers and I went out for a holiday party this week. I ended up getting black out drunk and we ended up at a strip club, where things escalated pretty quickly.

I basically got separated from them right away and got pulled up to this room 3 stories away from them where they kept charging my credit card for time in a private room and spent things like 200 bucks on a bottle of champagne. I remember maybe 5% of it but I was there for almost two hours and was clearly belligerently drunk.

I know this is 100% my fault for letting this happen, this is why I stopped drinking, but the whole thing seems a little weird and predatory. They pulled me away from my group and even though I was clearly obliterated kept having me stay and drink more. I only find this weird because I'm a bartender and know if I had done the same thing I could have gotten in serious trouble.

Is there any recourse? I woke up to several texts from Chase saying "Are you sure this isn't fraud" and kept hitting "Yes" apparently. While I've already mentally prepped myself to pay this stupid night off if theres anyway to lessen the load it'd be amazing. It seems like this isn't too uncommon, any advice? (I live in the US BTW).

EDIT: Thanks for all the advice guys. Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet on this one, though it seems it is illegal. Legal fees would probably be around the cost of the night so I doubt it'd be worth the time. I was in a 4 month sober streak before this so it looks like I'm just gonna stop all together. Thanks for the advice.

CA - Denied employment due to religion and race

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 10:58 AM PST

To give a better picture, I would like to state that I am a Muslim Arab woman who wears a headscarf. I was born and raised in the US, and my primary language is English. I went on an interview yesterday in Southern California which I was very excited about. The first part of the interview was with the director of IT. She kept asking if I was educated here or in another country (my resume was in front of her, and it states the university I graduated from, including the state and city). I stated that I was born and raised here, and that all of my education was in the U.S. She dismissed this and said that these educational opportunities are for lower class families (what?). Furthermore, she kept asking if I speak English - while I was speaking in English to her. I do not have an accent because my family and I all speak English. What's worse was that she kept talking to me like I'm a 5 year old, asking if I knew what words like 'logistics' meant. I've been in the workforce for 5 years, I know what 'logistics' means. This interview was for a software engineering position. I feel like I'm highly qualified for this position, but I'm not getting the job because of my race and religion. I checked out the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission site but I'm not sure if I have a case or not - or if its even worth it to argue with these people. Any advice would be highly appreciated!

[NH] Am I a prostitute, and if so, how much of one?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 10:44 AM PST

Hi lawyers. Here's the scoop. Men with small penises pay me money to humiliate and berate them for having small penises. Pretty much all via online chat. I've only physically met up with two clients, and they've just touched themselves while I talk to them. I only touched them by shaking their hands when I arrived and when I left.

So here's the thing. Another small penis humiliation (SPH) dom wants to sell me his "farm" (clients are affectionately referred to as "paypigs," hence, farm). I will need to deal with the tax consequences of the transaction but I'm worried that the IRS will read it as a prostitute buying a book of business from... another prostitute.

TLDR if I get paid to make fun of people's dicks obviously for sexual gratification but I don't actually touch them, am I a prostitute?

Location: New Hampshire but my clients are all over the US and Canada.

Neighbor owns seven cars and parks them all over dead end street. (NY)

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 03:57 AM PST

At my parents house, there is a neighbor who owns seven cars. He drives one of them and leaves the other seven parked around the street. One of these cars is parked right in front of my parents' house in a manner that takes up two spots. This has made life difficult for my parents as they now have to park elsewhere. The car has not been moved in months.

After speaking with the neighbor on multiple occasions, he told my Dad to get lost.

Is there anything I can do to get him to move his car up just a few feet?

Tldr; Jerk neighbor won't move his car after months of inactivity.

Verizon wants to release my browsing data for a subpoena. The subpoena isn't even for me.

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 04:17 AM PST

Just received a packet of legal documents from Verizon today notifying me that they have received a subpoena requiring the production of certain records associated with me as the "target."

The letter said that Verizon intends to produce the records unless, "Verizon is provided with a motion for a protective order or a motion to quash" in the next 2 weeks. They attached the judicial subpoena to the letter from the Supreme Court of NY.

I nervously sifted through the document, wondering why there was a subpoena for my personal information, as this was the first time I was hearing about this case. Reading through it, I came to realize that the subpoena isn't even for me! The defendant has the exact same name as me, is much older, owns his own company (a quick google search and it seems that this guy has been in hot water before with the SEC), and is also a Verizon customer!

I don't want my personal data being released in a case that has nothing to do with me. I also don't want any personal liability or ramifications from sharing the same name with someone who appears to be a man of ill repute. What legal steps can I take to (1) make sure that Verizon doesn't give away my data in this case (2) I don't get into future issues of mistaken identity?

Here are some options that quickly came to mind:

    (1) The letter lists the Plaintiff's attorney. Should I just call him or visit his offices to tell him that it's a case of mistaken identity? What if he doesn't do anything or doesn't care?

    (2) The letter lists a Verizon Security Subpoena Compliance official, however there is no contact information. Should I try to track this person down?

    (3) Do I have to hire a lawyer? I find it a bit ridiculous that I'd have to hire a lawyer just so I can stop Verizon from releasing my records because they can't tell their customers apart (there must be hundreds of thousands of people with the same name in NYC).

    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

(NE) My parents are both mentally ill and won't have anything to do with me because of their delusions. How can I get my belongings and birth certificate from them if the police can't do anything?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 08:08 AM PST

I'm 21, and my parents thought I had died when I was away at college, and they both remember having a funeral for me that never happened. I've tried convincing them otherwise, and my dad gets very confused and violent. He's made me leave his home by threatening me with a gun.

My mom has been on disability for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, but my dad has never been this bad. I don't know whether he's on drugs or senile (he's 78).

I've tried going to the police, and my parents are experts at lying and talking their way out of it. They made it sound like I was trying to break into their home disguised as their deceased son. The police say they believe me but won't help me retrieve my possessions. They keep stringing me along and saying they'll call me back and giving me no updates after five months. I've been homeless since then and unable to get stable work without a birth certificate. I can't get a new birth certificate without valid ID. My driver's license is over a year expired and they say I can't get a new one without that documentation. I'm just stuck here.

Lawsuit against company with me implicated.

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 05:31 AM PST

I work for a company based in Texas that has locations country wide. I work at a branch in Vermont.

TL:DR There is a lawsuit being filed against us, I'm unsure of the language, even the charges filed, but I'm named in the suit. I'd like to know what is going to happen to me.

A year or two back we hired someone to be an interim Front Office Manager. We had recently lost the one we had for about 10 years, and I was doing some of the work but couldn't handle it all. She was to be my support. Long story short, she never bothered to learn the actual job, and spent most of her time yelling at employees, lording her status, and screwing up. After the corporately designated amount of write ups she was fired, basically for incompetence, though that wasn't the language used.

When she was fired, she went to the local branch of Black Lives Matter, and got their lawyer involved. From what I know (which isn't much, I'm not kept in the loop on things of this magnitude,) he didn't find anything and no suit was pressed. She was basically claiming she was fired due to racism.

Now, to rant a moment, the person she and I were replacing was a black woman. She had been our FOM for over 10 years, everyone loved her, she loved us, and she left to be closer to her family. We consistently have black people on staff, in any number of positions, many of whom keep in touch after they leave. I'm still personal friends with a few of them. We hire J1 students from around the world, and treat them like family every year. The last thing my workplace is, is racist.

Corporate called the other day and said she has filed a lawsuit. They're preparing their defense, and have asked for the employee records of a few of us, myself included. I'm not sure I'm supposed to know this, but my GM warmed me saying I was part of her suit because, supposedly, during some conversation at some point, I said to her "Well, your boyfriend must have a big dick, he's black." I don't remember ever having said anything like this to anyone. Ever.

Due to this, and the fact that I recently started dating my GMs daughter, corporate has basically said I need to find a new job as soon as possible. I've given this company 10 years, but I'm being forced out because of this. That I can live with... I had been hoping to find a new job soon anyway, now I've just got a fire under my ass, but... what legal trouble am I in? What's going to happen to me? I haven't been told a thing, and I'm scared.

[FL] Mother of my child claims I am committing tax fraud by claiming our child on taxes. Am I?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 08:00 AM PST

I'll get right to the important details. My son lives with her. My visitation schedule is every other weekend. Since November, I have not been able to follow that schedule. I lost my job, and got another one that pays a little less and unfortunately I now work weekends. He's got extended family on her side that love spending time with him too. About 40 percent of the time when I attempt to arrange a visit someone already has him. I used to fight this but it got to the point where they were terrifying him with thoughts that I would kidnap him and he would never see them again. Nobody had any reason to believe this, but my son is 8 and I can't blame him for taking the words of the adults in his life as the truth.

We have a parenting plan that we established together along with her lawyer in winter 2015. This plan states the following: "The mother shall claim the child for 2014 and the father shall claim the child every tax year thereafter. Each parent agrees to execute any and all appropriate IRS forms to give effect to this paragraph.". The plan states that exactly. This plan also establishes visitation for every other weekend.

Fast forward to this year and his mother requests for the second year in a row to claim him on taxes. I explain for the second year in a row that I have already filed taxes and I followed the court order.

Side note: this year is different for her. She left her husband and is about to enter another custody fight for the three children they have together. She is likely looking at this potential tax refund as her means to get first/security for a place of her own. She's only been employed about 1 month of the last three years, and I expect her husband to be claiming their three kids on taxes.

Her logic is that since our child lives with her, she should be claiming him on taxes. And if I didn't have this court ordered parenting plan, I wouldn't fight her. She already told me of her intent to also claim him in the hopes that I get audited and found to be fraudulent.

I will be filing to amend the parenting plan so that she can claim him on taxes starting next year. But for this year, is she right? Did I commit fraud???

[CA] Former coworker knocking at my bedroom door, telling me they know where I live

    Posted: 06 Feb 2018 09:58 PM PST

Well what the fuck do I even say here. I did some work for a roommates company. Things didn't end well and I filed a lawsuit because they owe me a ton of money. Last night some guy I have met maybe two or three times is pounding at my bedroom door, roommate in tow. He tries to coerce me into signing away rights to earnings from their company. I asked why they couldn't send me these documents digitally/leave them in my mailbox. He tells me it would be easier to take care of now and they figured they would have my sign it now since "we know where you live." I sent them an email stating that I would appreciate if company employees were not knocking on my bedroom door. They responded that because they work with my roommate he has the right to allow them to enter my home and bang on my door at will (because he is his guest).

I have packed up all of my important shit and left. Bed and large furniture was left behind.

tl;dr, filed a lawsuit against my roommates company; he has invited employees of the company to come bang on my bedroom door and tell me that they know where I sleep.

What the fuck do I do?

Graphic designer in need of advice for fair use and copyright laws regarding Disney. (PA)

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 09:38 AM PST

Hi there! I recently had a friend approach me about designing a logo for their Disney World podcast and vlog. I want to avoid being made Disney's "bitch" for a lack of better term. I know they are horribly strict with what can and cannot be designed/used so I just want some advice on what to avoid using. Currently I'm illustrating them both for one logo design (I typically create 4 to choose from) and in the reference photo the woman is wearing Minnie ears and is loosely dressed like Minnie, red polka dot dress and Minnie ears. I left out the ears in my drawing, but if she asks while doing revisions about where the ears went I want to be able to properly explain why I cannot include the ears. Another idea is that they want their initials to form the shape of mouse ears. I have a loose layman's idea of copyright law and fair use regarding Disney but I've never actually had to design something based off of Disney (and always avoided doing so) so that knowledge has fallen by the wayside a little. Thanks in advance!

Work cuts my hours if I don't stay late

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 07:48 AM PST

So not me but a friend. He works at a fast food chain in Florida and on a regular basis is asked to stay several hours later than he's scheduled. He can't say no because they threaten to cut his hours if he doesn't agree to stay late. The one time he didn't take the 'offer' to stay late his hours were cut the next week and it's happened to other employees too.

We're not talking "it's busy so don't leave until these people are helped." He's had to work three hours after he was supposed to clock out at 11:00 p.m. on a night when he had to be there at 7:00 a.m. the next morning.

Is this legal? Can a company punish you for not accepting a non obligatory offer to stay past what they scheduled you?

[MA] Side-swiped by a fire truck while pulled over on the side of the road. Police report now says fire truck not at fault.

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 11:17 AM PST

    Posting for a friend.

My mom was side swiped by a lights and sirens fire truck while pulled over, yielding the road to the emergency vehicle. She was taken away in an ambulance from the scene, but luckily just suffered some whiplash.

We are now being told that my mom is being cited as at-fault for the accident for "failure to yield to an emergency vehicle". I am already trying to get the official police report, traffic camera footage if it exists, and dash cam footage (fire truck and police car) if it exists.

    Any other advice?

[CT] Towing company towed my friends car

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 05:08 AM PST

My friend had his car parked in his apartment complex parking lot. He didn't know that his registration had expired, and a towing company drove around with a plate scanner, found his car, and towed it.

For now he paid the towing fee and renewed his registration to get his car back, but is what the towing company did legal? IANAL, but I would think the apartment complex's parking lot would be considered private property and they wouldn't be allowed to tow his car.

What are his options, and is it worth fighting this?

Edit: It was his CT DMV registration, not a registration with the apartment complex. I don't know if they have some kind of clause about requiring all cars to be properly registered, I'll ask and update later.

Edit2: Talked with my friend. He said he spoke with his landlord, and that they said "yeah, sometimes tow truck companies just drive around scanning plates" so it SOUNDS like it wasn't a contracted thing by the apartment complex, but he is going to look through is lease agreement.

[TX] Homeowners insurance provider sent bill to wrong mortgage lender, refuses to remove cancellation due to non-payment from record

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 07:53 AM PST

I'll try to be as detailed as I can here, but if I leave out something important, please let me know. I have already filled out a complaint form to send to the Dept of Insurance, but my husband suggested posting here as well just in case. Thanks in advance for your help!

So here's the deal. Our homeowners insurance is paid through escrow by the mortgage company. Last fall was the first time it had to be renewed, as we are new homeowners and have only had the house for a little over a year now. When it was renewal time, the insurance company sent a bill alerting the mortgage provider that it was time to send the premium. Since I'm telling the story in chronological order, I'll go ahead and tell you now that they sent it to the original lender who only had our mortgage for ONE MONTH, NOT to the current lender who has had our mortgage for over a year now, although I personally only discovered that fact today. (I also know that they do have a record of who our current mortgage lender is, because when I called today the lady read the name to me off our profile and asked me to confirm it was the right lender. I said yes, that is the right one, but that isn't who you sent the bill to.) They did not send a second bill to the mortgage provider when they didn't get a response, though I'm guessing they are not required to? The next bill they sent was to me directly, three weeks before expiration.

Now, I have an independent insurance agent (who is being kicked to the curb as of today, they are useless.) Sometime about two months before the policy was set to expire, I started getting letters from the current mortgage lender notifying me that our hazard insurance was about to expire and they needed new proof of insurance. I sent this info to our insurance agent immediately and he said he would check and 'see where the disconnect was.' I'm a little hazy on the timeline for all the things that happened in this period, but if more detail is needed I think I can piece it together. I do know that the insurance agent sent two invoices to the mortgage company, both with his agency's letterhead. I also know that I contacted the mortgage company myself about three weeks after the policy expired because it STILL wasn't resolved, and they told me they had never received the declarations page from the insurance company. Finally, more than a month after the cancellation, the mortgage company disbursed the premium and the insurance company returned it to us because it was too late.

The insurance agency called me around the same time we got the premium refund, and assured me that they were writing us a new policy because the insurance company wouldn't rewrite our policy due to the cancellation. They failed to mention that the reason the company wouldn't rewrite it was that the agency hadn't tried to reinstate it within 30 days. I went back and forth with the agent, and they showed me a new policy quote with another company, with a much higher premium, which they said was the best they could do and I accepted out of necessity. A month after THAT, meaning yesterday, I finally found out that they had never sent that quote off to the new provider, meaning we STILL do not have homeowners insurance. Based on the cancellation date, we have been without insurance for THREE MONTHS now.

This is the part where I discovered that the insurance company had sent exactly two bills, one to the wrong mortgage company, and one to me personally. I called the insurance company twice today, once before I figured that out, and they told me the responsibility to pay the premium was on us because the mortgage company hadn't paid it, and therefore they would not remove the cancellation due to non-payment from our record. At this point I called the department of insurance and asked what I could do--they told me that if both companies were blaming the other and there was no way to prove what had happened to the invoice, there was nothing they could do. The second time I called the insurance company was right after I discovered that they had sent the bill to the wrong place, and they said they still could not remove it from the record.

So to recap: insurance company sent the invoice to the wrong mortgage company, meaning they did send it but the mortgage company can PROVE that they never received it because it is literally addressed to a totally different company in a totally different place. The insurance company is still saying it's our fault for not paying the premium at the last second out of pocket, and they won't remove the cancellation due to non-payment from our record which is hurting us when we try to get a new policy. I'm planning to file a complaint with the state department of insurance, but is there anything else I can do at this point?

Do we have a legal leg to stand on here with getting it removed from our record?

Is what my job doing illegal

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 11:42 AM PST

I started a new job about 2 weeks ago in delaware and I'm already noticing some less than savory practices all coming up the owner. We are instructed to remove labels from the manufacturer and slap new ones on some items. We are also told to cover up labels and remove leaflets that are inside boxes that have the original companies logo on them. Today I was making one of the products we own and its basically just water( a teaspoon is added to a 5 gallon drum) but we are selling it as a mist with ingredients in them the ingredient isn't even super concentrated so its like adding a teaspoon of lemon juice to a 5 gallon drum of water and selling it as lemonade. Is all this stuff legal if not who do I go to and what can I and other employees do to protect ourselves since we are just following what our cheap boss says to d.

New neighbors moved in next door and towed a shed through my yard. What next?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 11:56 AM PST

    Location: Pennsylvania, US.

The landlord next door was planning on selling his house but ended up renting to new tenants instead. They moved in a few weekends ago and the following week had a large shed transported to the home with permission of the landlord.

Apparently it was delivered while I was at work, and the company couldn't get it up the driveway within the neighbor's property line. Instead, without my permission or me even meeting my neighbors, they allowed the company to tow the unit through my yard. Because it was wet that day, the land ended up getting ripped up and large (6" and deeper) trenches dug in the yard.

I didn't notice the damage when I came home, but the tenants came over to introduce themselves and let me know about the damage; they apologized and offered to fix it themselves (not hire a company, but it appears to be beyond "hobbyist" repair) and I told them that I'd take a look and get back to them.

Since then, I ended up spraining my ankle in the darkness and have only been able to actually speak with the tenant's son once since the incident. I asked for the name of the company that transported the shed, but was told they didn't know off the top of their head and would get back to me; this was a week ago and I haven't had any communication with them since.

What should I do from here, and who is ultimately responsible for the damage? I'm frustrated because I don't want it to carry on forever and am not sure how to proceed.

NJ- CLAIM I HIT CAR WHEN PARKING IN LOT AT WORK

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 06:40 AM PST

I work on a corporate campus, and drove to another building for a meeting. I parked in a first spot next to a median; I pulled into the spot, then reversed because of the angle, to make it in, my coworker was in the passenger side, and we were carrying things into the building, so I went over to the passenger side of my car to make sure she had enough room, grab boxes, and went into the building.

When I left, there was a note on my windshield from campus security saying to call them as my car had been reported at hit. There was also a handwritten note saying a witness saw me hit the car parked next to mine when parking.

I immediately called security, and while on the phone with them, the lady in the white car next to mine knocked on my window to tell me I hit her car. I said that I did not, and there was someone in the passenger side of my car where I would have theoretically hit her car, who could vouch. She said she had a witness who has photos; one of her friends was in the car across from mine and said she saw it and then called the car owner to tell her that it happened.

At this point security comes to talk to us. I see NO damage on her car. Anywhere she pointed something out, I rubbed at it and it ended up being dirt. She claimed that the white marks on my bumper prove I hit her white car. My bumper is scuffed, so I said they were old marks. Later on at home, my husband looked at the white marks and wiped them away; they were salt residue left in scuff marks after all the snow we've had. The witness for the other lady came out and showed pictures of my bumper, my plates, the other cars "damage" (the dirt I ended up rubbing off) and the other cars plates. She said she knew I hit the car because I went around to my passenger side to check.

Campus security said that the cops most likely wouldn't write a report and would tell us to go through insurance. I didn't want to go through insurance and neither did the woman; she said she wanted money for whatever is costs to buff the "scratches" out. We exchanged phone numbers, and obviously campus security has this incidence written out. I also sent them the pictures I took, plus a picture of my clean bumper.

My question is, what do I do now? I understand that I most likely didn't handle this correctly in hindsight, but I panicked. If this woman comes back with some ridiculous number for cost of repairing damage that no one (including security) could see, what do I do?

Moved into apartment complex in November. Due to a computer glitch, they gave me an apartment which was supposed to be set aside for public housing. They want me to move to another unit in the building, however I really don't want to. I'm not forced to comply, am I?

Supposedly their system didn't update that our apartment was supposed to be a public housing unit. So last week they called my girlfriend and made it seem like its something we have to go along with. They did offer to find movers for us and take the cost off of the rent. I still feel we shouldn't have to move because of an error on their part, we signed a lease for the apartment we have, we are comfortable, and I don't think its right for us to be inconvenienced because of their mistake.

    Edit: live in Massachusetts

[ON, Can] Blocking in someone parked illegally on my property?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 01:12 PM PST

I own a residential triplex in Ontario. I live in one of the units and rent out the other two. There are three parking spots, one for each unit and no visitor parking - this is indicated very clearly in the lease.

Over the last three years, one of my tenants has repeatedly used my space as parking for his visitors. I'll come home, and there will be no where for me to park since he's let his visitors park in my spot. In the winter it becomes a particular problem, since there is no street parking. In the past, I just park on the street and then go and ask them to move, it has happened many times and I've become increasingly frustrated with the situation.

Last night when I came home to this after a long day, I was fed up and parked blocking his visitor from leaving. When he came and asked me to move later, I refused, stating that they could get out when I left for work in the morning. He was irate, yelling at me that I'm a bitch and he would have my car towed. I moved after about 10 minutes of making him sweat.

Could he have had my car towed off my property for blocking in his guest? Would there have been any foreseeable consequences to leaving my car blocking them in all night?

Note: I'm working on having him evicted for consistent late payment of rent, but that could take years. He hasn't paid me anything yet this month.

(California)- my dad is missing, presumed dead, but no body. I’m his only living relative and don’t know how to proceed.

(California)- my dad went missing in the woods last August. Police think he is dead, but haven't found a body. I am his only living relative. I didn't have any kind of relationship with him. Police think wild animals likely got to his body, and don't know if they will ever find him.

The state will not pronounce someone dead without a body until 7 years have passed. He had multiple guns (now being held by the police station), a bank account with a modest amount of money in it, an uninhabitable house on a small piece of land (mostly littered with junk) and that's about it. He also has upwards of 1 million dollars debt to Medicaid. I called the county clerk and he has no leans as of now.

I live out of state with my husband and kids, and really have no interest in driving down to dig through his squalor. I also don't have the money to spend on a lawyer for advice. So there are a few things I am wondering-

    1) what do I do about the guns. I don't want to own them and would just sell them, but how do I get them transferred in my name and travel with them across state lines?

    2) assuming no body is found, does his bank account just sit there for the next 7 years? Is there any way to close it out or at the very least make sure no bills are on autopay?

    3) does Medicaid have first dibs on his property? There is not currently a lean, is that something they would file for once he is either found or 7 years have passed?

I understand this would all be info best answered by a lawyer but I am busy taking care of my three kiddos and don't have extra money. I also know I may come across as cold in this post, however, my father was abusive and not a part of my life. Any leads/info/advice welcome! Thanks!

[WI] Can I charge a different amount of rent depending on the tenants credit score?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2018 05:09 AM PST

I was thinking of offering different levels of rent, similar to what credit cards and banks do - better credit = lower rent and lower credit = higher rent. I can't find any information online if this is allowed and I've never heard of a company that does it. Is this legal?
