    I have been a BDR for 2 years, working for 2 SaaS startups, 1 year at each.

    I have been pretty successful at both companies but I have hit a rough patch of late at my current company. I was consistently hitting above quota for about 9 months, but the past 2 months I have not hit goal. I am not doing anything differently from before and it is frustrating.

    We are a small BDR team of 3 and 100% outbound. I want to get back to hitting my number but feel there are a number of obstacles in the way of that and it is becoming very frustrating.

    Like many others here, recruiters hit me up all the time on linkedin and I am getting closer and closer to testing the waters of a new opportunity. I would appreciate any feedback of what to do.

    I am worried about moving to a new job only to be a BDR longer

    Worried about my resume looking bad from switching between BDR jobs, or not loyal to the company.

    Money. I think I could make more elsewhere.

    I have worked at sub-200 people startups. Should I switch to a more corporate setting?

    Going to my first sales conference soon, how should I treat it/network with senior management?

    I'm seeking advice for my very first sales conference! I'm new to sales (laboratory products) in general and have never been to a meeting this big (a few thousand people) or this long (4 days).

    My manager has advised me to seek out some senior level colleagues to introduce myself- ranging from regional managers to VP of North American Sales in various departments. I've already been advised to not do certain things (get hammered at our after hours events, bad mouth the company/current work events) but I would appreciate any advice on what to do on how to get the most out of the experience! I am signed up to do extracurricular activities to network and a round table breakfast with a VP but I'm not the best at introducing myself in a positive manner as small talk is not my favorite. Does anyone have a good script they use when introducing themselves to senior management? Or just a rule of thumb? AKA don't linger longer than 2 minutes etc?

    Approaching a Sales Manager via LinkedIn

    So I've read in here quite a few times that directly approaching a Sales Manager via LinkedIn yields good results for finding your first (or any) real sales job. A few friends of mine threw some names at me of people to contact within their company. Looking for advice for an opening message. Should I name drop? How should I approach selling myself when I have very little experience in sales and zero relevant to their industry? Of course, any other advice would be helpful.

    Anyone do more than sales for your company and find "Getting into Sales Mode" difficult?

    I'm required to do marketing promos, graphics, as well as oversee our website for our small company. I'm kind of starting to think you have to be in "sales mode", wake up and grind, hit the ground running etc. to be effective. Or I'm just an ADHD loser that can't manage time well? Thoughts?

    I want to sell software for a company as a SDR. I'm a recent college graduate. Is it common we start as a LDR first to become a SDR? I got a job offer as a LDR (Lead development Role) which sounds like cold calling all day. I dont mind taking the position I just want to know if its normal people start here to move up.

    Scored an interview for Oracle internship! BUT....

    Hey guys! So I heard back with an interview request for Oracle. I have just one concern - I've heard they have a hard GPA floor of 3.2. I rounded to that on my resume because my overall GPA is 3.1555... Now they're asking for copies of my transcript. Will the difference knock me out of contention?

    UPDATE: I sent recruiter my transcript, which clearly indicates the cumulative GPA of 3.16, and we're still on for an interview!

    How do you handle client request for fixed price proposal when they are providing vague requirements?

    Just got off phone with a client. He has presented a deck to upper management asking for 'Tune Up' of systems they have in place and wants to engage with us for a small engagement. Now my issue is, what he is talking about is very vague. I tried to ask him questions to understand his pains and he keeps going back to a 'Car Tune Up' analogy. Now for the systems we are talking about, the analogy does not hold much since you can't really tell the issues until you are on site, talk to actual users and find out the real problems. So what is a best way to respond in this situation? Appreciate any pointers. Thanks!

    How do you structure your days?

    I have recently transitioned from inside sales to outside sales, and I have been reading some sales books stressing the importance of structuring your days. I was wondering how some of the users here do so. Sometimes I come in to the office in the morning and just feel a bit overwhelmed because I have a relatively large area to work with and I don't always know the best way to prospect for new leads, or gather contact info. Ideally I'd really like to spend my mornings finding prospects, categorizing them by industry or area, and then making calls via phone (I could be wrong but generally I find in-person cold calls to be less effective), but I am working with a less-than-stellar CRM software (at least compared to my previous job) and basically I'm building my own CRM database from scratch. I was just wondering how some of the other successful sales reps on this subreddit structure their days.

    How to tell if a company is churn and burn?

    As I embark on searching out new opportunities, I do NOT want to end up in place that utilizes shitty sales tactics, treats their reps like shit, and quite frankly fits the mold of "churn and burn".

    What are some ways to spot this? What kind of questions could I ask to uncover?

    Further education fee allowance as company perk?

    Hi all,

    UK based, employed by large US SAAS back up specialist. One of the company perks is a yearly allowance of 8k for further education provided you meet reuired grades the company essentially pay your tuition fees. With that said, I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on some relevant areas to upskill in? I've thought about a Sandlers sales course to improve my sales skills, or perhaps looking at an area that would allow me to do some consultancy on the side. Has anyone here followed a similar path, or could offer some constructive feedback/advice?

    I'd like to hear how sales has changed your life? Over the years of being an entrepreneur and running a business, I've slowly fallen in love with the sales process; from prospecting, meetings, developing relationships and closing deals, I love it all.

    I want to hear from you. What has sales done to your life? Maybe sales has changed your life financially (hopefully) , maybe it's personal, tell me about some of your deals/clients, prospecting tips, I don't care, I just want to hear from you!

    Aircraft Sales Jobs?

    Anyone know of someone that works in aircraft sales? I would think you would need experience in aviation and a degree of some sort. What kind of salary can you expect? If you have a pilots license can you do any on the job flying?

    Help pls. Manager wants a thesis.

    So that's the way it was presented. I have to write a short thesis on the new account I want to land. I've written proposals but the VP was like , no this is different. If your pitch/thesis is approved it's worth 1k to you, but you have to do all the research and legwork first. I sell Saas. Ideas? Edit-The outline of the account, contacts, hierarchy, blog, news, competition etc ., everything I can find, plus strategy to attack and land it presented in a thesis style. No idea what that means. When I asked for clarification they just said I had to be the architect of the whole thing????

    Recently launched a web app for requesting files from clients that might be useful for salespeople!

    In my job I have to collects lots of files from clients, which is a pain. People email files, don't use descriptive names, files are often too big to email and they get bounced, and so on.

    Requestix is a web app for requesting files. It allows you to create request buckets for each file or group of files you need, and add details so that your clients understand what to upload. There are status dropdowns that "gameify" the file uploads and help to communicate to your clients when they haven't uploaded the right thing.

    Best of all, clients don't have to sign up to provide files. You can generate a private guest link, which your clients can use to immediately upload files.

    The entire system uses TLS encrypted connections and files are stored using AES-256 encryption.

    Accounts include 1GB of free storage (1GB will always be free, premium plans with more storage are under development). Feedback appreciated!

    Is right now a good or bad time in regards to hiring when it comes to SDR type roles?

    Evening good folks of /r/sales as I come to you in yet another day of my job hunt from wanting to escape an Account Manager role at a company I am miserable at to transitioning to an SDR role elsewhere!

    I hear that this time of the year is usually the best for hiring and major companies are looking for those candidates since they have funding but I wonder if recruiters and hiring managers actually start replying and taking interest just slightly later on in the year, or if I am just kidding myself and am really that unemployable for an SDR position (despite working in Customer Success/Account Manager for my first job out of college).

    I'd like to hear your thoughts and also, how do major SaaS corporations take it when they do not have a position open in a certain city but you are emailing recruiters and hiring managers to show your interest anyways? Are they annoyed at this?

    People are scheduling with us but not attending. How can I maximize my confirmation process to increase attendances?

    I'm helping a couple martial arts schools to get students from Facebook. Thanks to you guys we went from a bunch of zero value form fills, to people "scheduling" a class with us. (We now formally call them back to get them to commit_

    But it hasn't been enough. For our older school we've seen: 15 leads, 9 phone connects, 6 schedules, and only 1 attendance.

    So the big drop off is at the attendance. This may not be fixable. Facebook traffic is known to be flaky (nature of the source - ads are not what they are there for).

    But I want to do the best I can. So with that in mind, how would you guys construct a confirmation process that maximizes attendances?

    I'm thinking the following:

    1) Between leaning towards not enough reminders, and too much, its more important to be top of mind. So I'll do a chain of email and sms contacts if I can find a system for it.

    2) The key contact will occur the day of, OR the day before if they have a morning class (most do not). We will leave voicemails but continue to strive for an answered confirmation.

    Considering leaving my logistics sales job for software sales...slightly uncomfortable with their hiring process.

    I currently do inside sales for a logistics brokerage, and I'm a top producer at my company. The problem is that it's a cut throat industry and I don't see much potential for a good quality of life. I have an opportunity to get my foot in the door doing sales for a large software company (referral from a friend who works there), but i feel a little uneasy about their hiring process. It would be a 90 "trial" period where I would be employed and paid by the recruiting agency until the company decides to make a formal offer. During this period I'd be making a fraction of what i currently make. So I would leave my current job without any certainty to what I'd actually be making or a firm offer. I do have a ballpark figure of the salary, but it's still unsettling to leave a job without a concrete offer. My question - should I suck it up and just take what I can get, or continue looking for something with a better offer? (Side note - my friend is in a different department and did not go through this, but did say it is standard)
