How and why to write a company boilerplate

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:37 AM PST

I found an in-depth article about boilerplates and wanted to share it with you https://www.criminallyprolific.com/company-boilerplate/

If you are interested, this is what a boilerplate is (quoting the article)

A company boilerplate is a few paragraphs of text about the company that goes at the bottom of all its press releases. This text describes the company, its purpose, and often, its size, presence, and chief locations.

Order management Software for small business suggestions?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:59 PM PST

Ive been looking around for a software to handle individual customer "jobs". Unfortunately i have not found too much that looks like what i need, i may not be looking in the right places. Regarding the jobs, think of contractor type work

    "build deck for dude a"

    "take down shed for jimmy"

    Features i am looking for:

    • Cloud based

    • Handle variables like paid/Not paid,

    • Filter by location, etc.

    • USER FRIENDLY, i am computer literate but others not so much.

The last point is critical, Excel really does most of the things that i want, however it isnt nearly as user friendly as i would like it to be when it comes to filtering for a location and things like that, Having an app to view the jobs on the go would be great too, and excel on mobile is a nightmare.

I can be more specific in how it would be used if asked, Thank you ahead of time!

    Help on business etiquette

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 08:15 AM PST

    Hello there.

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I couldn't think of any other place. I was wondering how to proceed with saying Good Morning to everyone in my office for my new job. My particular cubicle is in the front so I literally never have to go pass anyone when going through to my spot at work outside of perhaps my supervisor. Whats a good way to say Good Morning without being awkward and walking through every single cubicle? Thanks guys.

Is it too good an opportunity? Food Truck

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 01:26 PM PST

So I've just been presented with a once in a life time opportunity.

Firstly a bit of background about me. I run a small video production company, last year was great but things have been really slow for the last few weeks and I've been doing what I can to make sure I can pay rent.

Like most creatives I have a background in the hospitality industry, basically I have held every position in a restaurant from pot wash through to restaurant manager.

One of my smaller clients( some local friends) who run and operate two restaurants have presented me with the opportunity to be a partner for their food truck. They have basically invested $40,000 into a food truck and smoker that they can't do anything with as between them they don't have the funds to employ somebody full time to manage it and put it to work. Plus the lifestyle it brings its very difficult to make it work. The truck is fully kitted out, everything is ready, all they need is somebody to make it work i.e. somebody who can source events and locations and put the truck to work and get it making money.

The agreement we have and contracted is 50 percent on any profits earned from events I run the truck to. I won't take salary or wages, I just have to find events and put it to work. They are happy for me to organise everything my way and they will happily help me with any set up and nothing comes out of my pocket. (Insurance, licenses, supplies everything is taken care of) all I have to do is make it work and get it earning money.

I am passionate about the food industry and video content marketing, and this just seems like it may be a little too good to be true so I just wanted to see if anybody with a little more experience in running a food truck for events had any foresight or experience they could input.

For me I see this as an events only venture so I would just be running it around events where I know there will be people and they are happy to do so. What do you think?

Question: Are there restrictions for businesses issuing debit cards?

Can the hypothetical business I run issue unlimited amount of debit cards? Are there any restrictions to issuing debit cards? I am talking about debit cards and not credit cards.

    Video Advertisement Ideas?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 09:00 AM PST

Hey guys! Me and my friends have decided to participate in a competition where we have to sell an IT Product(mouse, keyboard, monitors, anything PC related). However it turns out it is not so easy. I have seen the other videos posted until now and to be honest they are horrible. I have thought of kinetic typography but we don't have time and it is not worth it considering our competition.

So, I wish to hear you guys' ideas. Perhaps some scripts, ideas of presentation, just about anything that makes us remarkable. Thank you!

[Tool] Ranking the most secure and private software tools (looking for feedback)

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 03:02 AM PST

    Dear business community

As the title suggests, I made this tool that ranks the most secure and private email, backup, VPN, cryptos and communication software :)

It's all based on a Google Sheet, which updates the website automatically when the spreadsheet changes: https://secured.fyi/edit

Couldn't find a good comparison overview like this, and want to see if enough people are interested in it, because I would like to spend more time on expanding the data set, and add more categories.

I wrote a medium post here that goes more in detail on how and why it was made: https://medium.com/@fredrikaurdal/secured-fyi-ranking-the-most-secure-and-private-software-tools-how-i-created-a-powerful-ranking-1f8a37913169

The full site can be found here: https://secured.fyi/

If anything is not working, suggestions for improvements, personal experience, what you love and hate is all welcome :)
