What % of a company do I have to own to have access to its revenue?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2018 08:44 PM PST

I'm a newbie, but if a company is valued at 1 B, I buy 501m worth of shares, and being the shotcaller, make myself the decision maker, do I have access to that company's revenue?

How does Bon-Ton Still Exist? Can a business expert help me out!

    Posted: 06 Jan 2018 08:13 PM PST

I'm super lost on how Bon-Ton stays in business. I went shopping for some dress clothes and I was getting dress pants that stickered at $175 for $45, and $75 dress pants (Diff brand of course) for $20.57. $60 ties for $19.98. They give coupons for future purchases basically making everything 50% off if you spend $50.

How does this place physically still exist. I'm really lost. Is the markup that freaking ridiculous??? Or are these seconds the companies pretty much give away? Both?

Anyone with any knowledge please let me know. I'm super intrigued. I feel bad for the store...

How restricted are you to charging a client a price different to what they expect?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2018 05:08 PM PST

I'm a freelancer in web dev. I'm looking for some 3rd perspective opinions as I'm not too sure on what path to take. I told a client over the phone (haven't quoted him yet) a price range ($x - $x) for the product i'm selling, which I regret as I charged him less than I usually do. I told him the price could change depending on complexity and other factors, but as he wanted something simple I feel like he was hinting at that it would be at the lower end of the price range. This is about half of what I usually charge. Would it be wrong if I charged him the higher end of the price range (which is around my normal price for the complexity). I technically did say it COULD be this much, so I'm just not sure how he would take it. Any suggestions?

Why set up multiple companies (Offices) across Europe instead of having only one?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2018 06:04 AM PST

I am curious. Why would you set up a new legal entity in each EU country, instead of having one EU office? Aren't there VAT tax mechanisms that would allow easy trade across Europe, without having a legal entity in each country you do business with?

Or is it more of an HR related thing, if you actually want to hire people locally?
