Posted: 09 Dec 2017 05:15 PM PST I have one business partner, we run an online services company. Although I shouldn't say WE, I run an online services company, to date I have made every single sale, been the accountant, been the only person working in the office, and have done 100% of EVERYTHING. I am finally over it, and I want to make my own company and continue on my own. I know this is not a legal forum, and you guys don't have much background, or my operating agreement. But it is feasible to do this? As long as I get all my clients to agree to move to my new company does that cover me? [link] [comments] |
How young is too young to start a small retail store? Posted: 09 Dec 2017 11:52 PM PST Hello all, This is my first post on this sub so sorry if this isn't allowed! Anyways I've been thinking and dreaming about starting up my own retail store after I'm out of college. I'm currently taking a program that revolves around business analysis and have worked retail for years, so I feel I will have a good idea going in about how the store should operate. My biggest concern is my age, does anyone think that 20 is too young to take on such a large endeavor? My girlfriend thinks that it's too young to have your business but I think it might be beneficial to start young when dealing with lifestyle footwear and clothing (streetwear). Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Dec 2017 07:02 PM PST This happened years ago and I wish I had known better at the time. So we leased copiers and when we would near the end of the leases the copier company would approach us for the next round, buy out our current lease, supply us new equipment, and start a new lease. This time we re-upped earlier than usual because we really needed updated equipment. Everything went fine until some time later (don't remember how long but at least a couple of years) we were contacted by attorneys asking about why the copiers were never returned and the balances on the leases. I think they had been contacting our copier company before that but don't know. Bottom line he had kept and probably sold the equipment and didn't pay off the the remainder of the leases. Cost us $40,000 and many other businesses including a large school district. We have a summary judgement against him but he opened up a similar company in Italy (we are in the US). Get Proof Your Lease has been satisfied before you get a new one. [link] [comments] |
Someone wants to buy my LLC registration (not the business) Posted: 09 Dec 2017 10:16 AM PST I have single member LLC (registered in NJ), and I've been contacted by a lawyer whose client supposedly wants to reregister an LLC that is one space away from being the same. They've asked me to do them the favor of terminating my LLC so they can reregister. I have a bunch of questions:
Any help would be appreciated. I feel like I'm going to end up going down the road of talking to a lawyer regardless of what I do at this point, but the situation just seems odd. That's another reason that they'd have to offer me a fairly significant amount of cash to get me to do something for them. [link] [comments] |
What are the laws regarding women-only services? Posted: 09 Dec 2017 12:32 PM PST My mother is starting her own mobile spa business. Because she's going to their homes to provide the skincare services, she doesn't want to accept any male customers. It's really just a matter of her feeling safer with women-only. So far she hasn't had any men contact her for a service, but if that does happen, could it become an issue if she refuses to serve him? We live in the California btw. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Dec 2017 04:23 AM PST Hi guys, at the moment I own 6 shops and its going very well in all of them. People like our products and our services and the demand is increasing pretty stable. The reason why I am thinking, by franchising it, its mainly because the concept is very simple and easy to control. If you went through this with your business can you share some advices and experiences that you faced in the beginning, please? Some numbers(in average): Initial investment - 75000€; Gross return per year - 66000€; Profits - 24000€; Payback Period - 3 years Thanks in advance :) (PS - You can PM me if you want) [link] [comments] |
2 year old electrical contracting company Posted: 09 Dec 2017 08:30 AM PST Hi. So.. I'm on year two of owning a contracting company.... I've been faced with a lot of challenges asides from just trying to start up. These include: -Having a deadbeat business partner -Trying to get rid of dead business partner. -Non paying customers -A book keeper that misrepresented himself as a book keeper (he was highly recommended by another contractor Friend of mine) Normal business growing pains.. I'm struggling with trying to come up with a plan to better identify my operating costs and so forth.. but in some ways, I am just feeling very overwhelmed with everything. I feel like I keep getting kicked when I'm down... Sadly, my apprentice makes more than me. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can slowly start piecing things back together because I'm really starting to feel defeated. [link] [comments] |
Do people do things like own a coffee shop while working full time ? Posted: 09 Dec 2017 09:09 PM PST I know someone who claims to work full time as an accountant, while also owning a coffee shop. How could this be possible ? It makes me feel like i should be doing more with my time and money. [link] [comments] |
Replacing an old TalkSwitch wired phone system Posted: 09 Dec 2017 04:41 PM PST What is a good phone switch and system to replace an old wired TalkSwitch setup? Preferably up to 24 stations and an easy plug and play setup with the current configuration? Due to unreliable internet, VOIP is not an option. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Dec 2017 10:05 AM PST Greetings. I feel like this might be a really basic post, but online searches seem to be different and they're all like "Register as a business and you're done!" I'm interested in buying a car wash. I know what I'm looking for and I know that I eventually need to get all of the city hall type paperwork. My first step is funding. I have some cash that I can throw toward it, but I feel like I need a good business loan to really get through the full startup costs. What is the first step? Should I go to a bank's small business team and go over my plan and see if they'll fund my difference? Do I need to have a specific business to buy before I do this? I'll be mentally ready to do this soon -- I just don't know exactly where to start. Even if it's a link that gives a few solid steps on how to start from basically nothing, it'd be a huge help. Terms and Conditions for my new company? Posted: 09 Dec 2017 03:16 PM PST I am starting my own logistics / shipping company and am wondering about terms and conditions. What type of attorney would be ideal for this or is that overkill? Are there any websites that provide a template for this? [link] [comments] |
Competitor sabotage on google? What to do? Posted: 09 Dec 2017 08:53 AM PST I need some advice for a relative. He runs a business and a local competitor is leaving fake 1* reviews 2-3 times a week. The guy writes tons of 5* fake reviews for his own business. He has double the reviews of any store in his area and his business is the smallest there, all the reviewers are clearly new account with no other reviews, or 3-4 reviews of 5* for himself and 1* for his competitors. He first started leaving bad reviews with his personal account which led back to his business which is how we found out who it was. Tried calling the police and they can't help, tried calling the owner who claims he got "hacked"....what do we do about this? Is there a better sub to ask about this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Dec 2017 11:18 AM PST I want to make and sell. I'm not planning on becoming a HUGE business, just make some cash on the side. I'm thinking of selling locally (NJ) and reaching out to local children's boutiques. While building inventory, I learned that I need to set up a business acct, file for an EIN, register locally and state wise, charge sales tax if I sell locally, and that my items need to be compliant by FTC and CSPC standards. Does anyone have any experience with this??? I've read that if I don't do all of this before I start selling that I will incur hefty fines from the government. Help please! [link] [comments] |
Built a fully-fledged app, website. No idea where to go from here... Posted: 09 Dec 2017 09:53 AM PST I'm not quite sure this is the right subreddit for this post, so if not I apologize in advance... I'm an 18 year old, a freshman CS major, and I've been programming/developing apps, games, websites, etc. for a few years now. Over the summer I had an idea for a really ambitious project, one that I didn't think I'd be able to build to completion working independently. Nevertheless, I did, and now I have a product that I think is really promising but I have absolutely no idea what to do with it. This app necessitates having a critical mass of users, and I'd imagine that doing that would take a lot of money, business acumen, and marketing. The premise is that the platform allows early-stage startups and projects (many of which likely wouldn't be able to accrue funding elsewhere) to connect with willing investors. I think it provides an interesting take on the equity crowdfunding space, as it's a 2-way platform where users can buy shares directly and sell to other investors, as well as post their own projects from directly within the app in a streamlined, user-intuitive process. From there, users receive earnings through capital appreciation when reselling shares and through receiving dividends from the startups/projects they've invested in. The app is fully integrated with PayPal, and all of the core functionality is in place and working by now. There's a few companies in this space, but I think I've taken a different approach, at the moment equity crowdfunding is used primarily for projects that are seeking significantly more funding than traditional crowdfunding. With the platform I'm building, I'm trying to target entrepreneurs and individuals who aren't necessarily pursuing the most ambitious projects, but maybe still need a few thousand dollars or so. I was considering reaching out to a few smaller companies in this space to see if they'd be interested in the platform I built, but what's to say they wouldn't simply take my ideas and leave me with nothing? I'd like to try to create a business out of this myself, but I'm questionable about how feasible it'd be, considering I'm working independently, I'm still in college, and I have virtually no money to put into this.
