- I was dumb and did not get ANY scholarships for undergrad, now graduating Summa (3.9+ GPA). Is there any organization that provides loan forgiveness to high achievers, or am I screwed?

Posted: 02 Dec 2017 05:33 PM PST Hello, I currently have all of my student loans serviced through Navient. I am set up for auto-pay (for the interest discount), and I plan on paying extra each month to help knock out these loans. My question is: If I am paying extra each month, I do not want Navient to lower my monthly auto-pay amount (so that I am able to pay off this debt faster). Is there a way I can have them keep my monthly auto pay the same amount? Thanks for reading [link] [comments] |
Capital gains effect on PSLF eligibility? Posted: 03 Dec 2017 12:15 AM PST Currently accepted under the PSLF program (close to 3 years in) with outstanding loan balance of $180,000 with a current salary of $106,000/yr. I've been considering selling my house to re-locate, which would result in quite a bit of a gain from the original purchase price (estimate in this market a gain of $1.5 million). I assume that my AGI would be affected therefore my PAYE plan but also would I remain eligible for PSLF? [link] [comments] |
Why didn’t all of my loans go into repayment? Posted: 02 Dec 2017 09:21 PM PST I graduated June 9, 2017 with a combination of direct grad plus and direct unsubsidized stafford loans. I applied for and was accepted into PAYE, with a confirmation date of 10/25, where I was told my Monthly payment amount would be ~$297. My loans should come out of grace in December, but looking at my bill, I'm only being charged $25 for the grad plus loans, which are listed in deferment. There are no payments on my stafford loans, which are listed as in grace. To my knowledge, both of these should be out of grace and in repayment. Any idea why this is the case? Asking because in want to make sure I start making qualifying PSLF payments. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Dec 2017 02:28 AM PST The situation: I have a wage garnishment from my student loans. Couple weeks ago, I signed an agreement with GC Services to rehabilitate my loan for $5 per month and was told that on the fifth month (March) the wage garnishment will stop. However, I got offered a new job as an independent contractor and accepted and started working for them yesterday. I did some reading online which says that although they can't do a wage garnish on me now as an independent contractor since I'm no longer an employee, they can garnish my entire income by filing for non-earnings garnishment. What do I do? I'm in the process of rehabilitating the loan already, but I'm worried one day I'm not going to receive my paycheck because my student loans took it all through the non-earnings garnishment. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
