Making a suggestion to a toy manufacturer?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2017 04:04 PM PST

I've had a teddy bear since the late 90s, and I've never seen another one like it. It is particularly cuter than any other teddy bear I've seen before, so I'm wondering if it would be possible to contact a major toy manufacturer to see if they would be interested in reproducing the bear and selling it in the mass market.

There used to be a tag on the back of the bear that said "Product of Korea, Copyright 1983", so I'm guessing it was made by a Korean toy company back in the 1980s. I live in the US, so I'm not entirely sure whether or not the bear sold in North America during that time period. I originally got the bear from a neighbor who was a Korean immigrant, so maybe she had purchased it back when she was in South Korea. My question is would there need to be any due diligence between the Korean company and whatever US company I approach before going further? Since it's a toy, it wouldn't contain the same sensitive characteristics that a tech product would have, but I'm still wondering if the US company would need any sort of permission from the Korean company before doing anything. I don't currently know anything about the original manufacturer, so I don't know if they still make the bear or if the company's even still around. I also don't know if the bear was ever sold outside of South Korea.

    Any thoughts would be helpful.
