Posted: 27 Nov 2017 10:44 AM PST Full stock list: https://i.imgur.com/DgmNfSI.png (including some losers) The first position I bought was Facebook in 2013. Back when they couldn't monetize mobile and their users were leaving in droves and they bought that service called Instagram for 1B. I could not wait to buy in since they dominated social media and figured they would turn it around. The second position I bought was Disney in Feb 2014. I forget why they were struggling, but I looked at their 52 week chart and it seemed like a bargain at $74. It is one of the few non-tech stocks I bought. Over the next 6 to 18 months I bought the majority of my tech stocks when they were doing horribly and the buzz about them was horrible. One of the last positions I got into was Apple. At one point I was down 20+% on all of my investments for months and basically just kept buying more when I was down a lot (20%+) on a specific stock that I believed in. A good example is Amazon. (Another stock that I've done that with that hasn't turned out well is Under Armor.) Don't get me wrong, I was nervous the entire time I was buying and had no idea how things would turn out. I just bought stocks I believed in and figured time would tell. My strategy is basically sticking to the field I know well and try to buy market leaders at a good bargain compared to their historical highs. It could be that I just got lucky. I have no idea. I pretty much ignored buy ratings or price estimates by experts and looked at P/E ratios and their position compared to competitors in their field. If a market leader was near their 52 week low then they were definitely on my radar. Market pullbacks happen all the time and that is when it's a great time to start buying. I spent weeks and months waiting for the best time to buy some stocks and it was driving me nuts waiting. Prior to these purchases I had zero experience in the stock market. So my advice to you is, go ahead and give it a shot and learn as you go. [link] [comments] |

I lose $1000 in stock market today, AMA Posted: 27 Nov 2017 11:58 AM PST Bought 3 $SQ june 2018 calls, strike 48. Bought that when SQ dipped around $45. It's still falling and so are my tears. Edit: I lost* $1300 [link] [comments] |
Shopify Merchants Experience Record-Breaking Sales on Black Friday Posted: 27 Nov 2017 07:36 AM PST |
Posted: 27 Nov 2017 04:26 AM PST DPW is another company like MARA expecting to go absolutely huge this week. It already bumped up from 60 cent a share to over 2 dollars right now, its making a crytocurrency play. [link] [comments] |
What are your low entry picks to hold for 5+ yrs? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 06:32 AM PST Post your picks for everyone to research, and if you're feeling generous, explain why you picked what you did. :) [link] [comments] |

MU still a good buy at this time? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 06:56 AM PST Micron Technology has increased 150% over the past year and their financials look excellent -- ROA 12%, ROE 30%, P/E 10 (average for industry is 30), only potential concern is their debt but I can overlook that here. Furthermore, the only earnings growth that has really been consistent has only been since the end of 2016 to present. This stock historically speaking is highly volatile. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on MU? [link] [comments] |
Bought Gamestop [GME] - Convinced market is underpricing it Posted: 27 Nov 2017 11:29 AM PST All of the valuation models I have put together along with looking at FCFE and FCF payout ratios suggest that the lower end price should be around 22 with an upper end price of 26. I think people are overly hammering the stock because of its current business model and industry tailwinds. Fundamentally it has upsides to justify the price and though it will not be a huge returner, I think 6-8% is achievable. [link] [comments] |
Good stock(s) to bet on the growth of cloud computing/data storage centers Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:10 PM PST Question in the title... does anyone have any good recommendations for stocks with some exposure to this industry? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2017 12:00 PM PST What is everyone's thoughts on Pieris? Has a lot of backing, just got to 6.5 today and has begun to dip. I'm thinking about waiting for it to drop to around 5 or so. Anyone else into PIRs?? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2017 06:53 AM PST Not sure why it dipped, but I got in once I saw -5% for the day. Buy that dip baby [link] [comments] |
If you had to choose between these two stocks... which would you choose to buy? Posted: 26 Nov 2017 02:59 PM PST Hey, I've decided to invest into one of these two stocks... just not 100% on which one yet. If you had to choose between ALIBABA or AMAZON, which would you choose and why? If anyone has other suggestions that you think is a better play, feel free to suggest and I'll look into it. Posted: 27 Nov 2017 08:31 AM PST Why is this stock booming so much and is it too late to get in on it? [link] [comments] |
Investing in stocks when you plan to spend everything you have in about a year or two. Posted: 27 Nov 2017 02:15 PM PST I was wondering what the consensus is in a situation like this where I have a plan to spend pretty much all of my money in about a year or two, so the plan is short term. I was thinking about a high interest savings account like capitol one. Doing this however lowers my Bank of America benefits big time. I lose my free trades every month, my cash back on my all of my spending which I use on credit gets cut in half, and the free ATM transaction a month goes away(meh). This mitigates the 1.3% savings I would be getting to some degree. So instead I have opted to make $5k purchases of an ETF named LVHD, every month add another $5k to dollar cost average but never go above 75% equities. At least with this Im collecting 3.3% dividend, and I like the holdings of the fund already. The fund is allocated to be low volatility, so although im exposed to the stock market I wouldn't be as harmed by a crash as others. Is this still not a very smart idea? My plan is to spend almost all of my money to pay off my mortgage in a little over a year from now. Is it really okay that I have about 80% of my holdings in Cash right now because of this, because it doesn't feel like what Im doing is the best plan of action, I just cant think of any better idea. Here is the ETF I plan to start investing in better ideas are welcome! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:55 PM PST I've noticed after successfully passing through the 2nd or 3rd phase of FDA trials causing a company's stock price to shoot up. If that's true then why doesn't everyone look to the FDA for indicators on these types of stocks? Or is this correlation between successful clinical trials and rising stock prices coincidental? It seems obvious...but if that were the case then everyone would use this system. What am i missing? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:53 PM PST For those of you that listened to me earlier about $PRELF congratulations, you're all rich. I suggest you all get in on $ACBFF. This is a Canadian weed stock which has shown significant growth over the past month 2 months. This growth is gradual, meaning it is not a pump and dump. With the legalization of weed coming in 2018 in Canada, I am expecting huge returns of up to 100% for not just this stock, but other weed stocks in general. Do your due diligence and get in on this train before it departs. [link] [comments] |
Who is still on the $AAOI train? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:53 PM PST I'm still a believer... but I don't think it will rebound/have significant price change until next ER/pre-announcement. Risky move, but I am thinking of selling tomorrow to tax loss harvest, then buy back in in one month's time when people are TLHing for the end of year (which ideally a lot of people will do with AAOI, letting me purchase cheap shares back). Very risky, but how dumb is this idea? [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on $TARIF and $CCOEF? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:18 PM PST New to this so just curious why TARIF hasn't moved since November 10th. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2017 07:16 AM PST Was up 5% 10 minutes ago and still up 4% currently. Is this just speculation based on Black Friday and Cyber Monday related business, or did something happen? [link] [comments] |
Are EARS & MOMO poised for a post-earnings break out tomorrow? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 09:20 AM PST |
Question for people who trade AMD, what's your strategy? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 06:57 AM PST I'm a total newb when it comes to trading so AFAIK the only way to see growth in a stock like AMD is to buy it low, sell it high and rebuy when it dips or am I missing something? I'm wondering if my original thought with a stock like that that doesn't have dividends was correct. [link] [comments] |
What are your thoughts on MARA? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 12:40 PM PST Started at 7$ flat and went up to 10.03 momentarily this morning and is back down to 7.50 right now. Thoughts? Is it a one day/week fluke? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2017 12:13 PM PST So I understand that they are dipping right now and that I should buy. But how long will the dip last before it bounces back? What caused the dip? I heard something about the tax plan effecting it too but have no clue how. [link] [comments] |
