What is your strategy to avoid panicking while the market is down? Posted: 23 Feb 2022 09:11 PM PST I am in for the long haul and don't see any reason to reduce my investments, but I still find myself obsessing over how much and how long the market has been down. So what are your strategies to get past the blues without panic selling? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2022 08:30 PM PST Hi! I am trying to get into couponing and/or buying in bulk in order to save money in the long run. The problem is I have no idea where to start and I am feeling overwhelmed. All the couponing videos I've watched have people buying lots of stuff I don't need/wouldn't use, just to get the one thing I would use at a discounted price! And I can't afford a Costco or Sam's club membership at the moment, so I don't know how else to buy bulk. Advice?? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2022 07:24 PM PST From all I've read it seems Solo 401k only applies to schedule C income and I was wondering if there is any way to work it so that W2 income (where no employer 401K plan was in place) can be deducted against? Thanks for all and any wisdom [link] [comments] |
Recession/Depression | what do we do Posted: 23 Feb 2022 08:17 PM PST First of all, I apologize if this body of text does not fit on this subreddit but because this sub is about finances, I will give you my thoughts and see where they go. In 1929, the "great" depression hit. Most people were poor. Dirt poor. Not like people have experienced now-a-days in the United States of America. Well, when covid hit us in 2020, it started shutting down the world, including small businesses. For good. I am saddened to hear small business owners' stories of having to close up shop after 20 years, 50 years, 100 years, heck, even longer! There are very few people alive today that lived through the "great" depression. Most, if not all of those people were not old enough to remember it. They can't give us their input, first hand, on what we can do to protect ourselves and our families. We all know we are in a recession, or damn near. Especially with the 7.5% inflation rate with no sign of it slowing down. With how much the world has changed (negatively) in the last couple years, I fear that we're headed towards a depression. The "great" depression started in 1929 and didn't end until the late 30s. That's around 10 years. Me being close to 30, that's almost 1/3rd of my life. I started investing in early 2021. I made some mistakes, learned from it. Started an IRA, making the right steps. I am in fear that I won't be able to become as financially stable as I would like to be because of a possible depression. Like I said, I'm near 30 and don't want to remember the prime of my life (as well as everyone else), barely scraping by because of the financial world. In a few years, I want to get married and start a family. I want my child to grow up healthy, without anyone fearing that there won't be food on the table. That's a scary thought for millions and millions of people across the world. No one deserves that. Now Russia is most likely going to invade Ukraine. This isn't good for anyone. This will have severe world wide effects on many things, including the economy. Buy your electric cars now! I'm as financially independent as I have ever been and I don't want it to come crashing down. What can we do to fight this. How can we protect ourselves and our families? What must we do? What are your thoughts on the current economy. I would love to hear from all of you. The only advise I have (because I lack such experience), is to protect yourself as best you can.
