What's something amazing your mentor has done or said to help you achieve a new goal?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 04:26 AM PST

PS A mentor could be someone you know, someone you don't know or even a book - books are important to me. I find mentorship in books - people literally put years of experience into 300 pages for you.

Looking forward to reading your comments.

I overheard someone talking about how they should make a networking application for people who have gone through recovery programs.. So they can re establish themselves with people with the same restricted lifestyle.

This vending machine business worth it?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 05:47 AM PST

Looking to buy my first vending route. Found a good business making 5000 minimum gross per month during covid. 14000 gross per month before covid. Profit around 35%. Been going for 6 years.

24 machines in 12 locations, contract with a medium sized gym franchise (contract with head office, placement across multiple gyms in the greater area). Long term contract been going on for years.

    2 problems I see:

-need 15 hrs/week of work for refill each week (basically 1hr per location), basically permanent committment (can be broken up to 2-3 mini routes, different day for each route). I already work a demanding 9-5 job so I'll need to a whole weekend day or multiple nights during the week to do it. This leaves no free time to do anything else.

-location: means I can't move away from my area, otherwise will have to sell the business.

What do you guys think? Solid business and worth the work and ROI for sure, but problem is finding the motivation to do it long-term and no flexibility of moving. (I don't know where I'll settle in my life).

Me and my friend have around 40-60k€ to start a business. What could we do with that capital?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 01:58 AM PST

Hey there, we are around ~25years old, from Spain. I have a degree in Business and Administration, he is getting a degree in Economics. We have a background of sports, motor racing and tech, having grown up around computers and using them for most of our day. We speak English on a pretty good level, as well as Spanish and our local dialect.

We have a few ideas, but we want to know all (or all we can) our possibilities. With that kind of funding (just our savings, no external financing atm) what are some business ideas (not necessarily anything new of course) you guys could come up with?

I have always wanted to start my own business, and after having worked many years in three different companies, both big and small, I'm more than sure that I want to have my own thing.

    Thanks a lot!

Businesses that make money from the rise in eCommerce shops?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 04:46 AM PST

I was just wondering what are some business ideas that profit from the rise in eCommerce shops? I was thinking something like buying a warehouse and converting into smaller warehouses for small eCommerce shops etc could work? Obviously SAAS is a major one, but you would need some experience and a good product to sell. Any other ideas?

Need Advice - what are the first steps to take for growing my business?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 07:03 AM PST

I've been a solo-preneur for a few years. I own a profitable Shopify store that generates around $300k in revenue, and it supports me without any employees.

I struggle to understand how to grow my business. If I close my eyes and zoom out the answer is obvious. I need to hire, train, and delegate. But breaking down how to delegate is difficult, because at my current level there wouldn't be much for them to do immediately except everything that I already do. I need to invest money into new channels (marketing, wholesale/brick&mortar, online marketplaces, etc.). But it's difficult for me to shift focus towards new endeavors without neglecting my current daily tasks.

I could figure out some of the new processes, like adding more marketing channels (influencers marketing, etc), but I know it would be bumpy at first and probably not pay off immediately. Other new processes, I would have no idea where to start so I'm not even sure how I would train someone to do them. I don't know if I should hire a consultant (which seems like I could easily get swindled) or if I should try to brush up my business skills by taking some online "MBA-type" courses (probably a waste of time).

Where do I go from here, how are you successful entrepreneurs growing your businesses without a ton of resources and the know how. I know there are plenty of books like e-myth, traction, etc. But they all seem out of reach as I know I've build myself into a job and I don't really have any procedures and processes as it's just me.

Look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts, especially those that were once in my position.

Tips on how to pivot business successfully?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 05:32 AM PST

    Long post ahead:

I run an online bakery shop that specializes in cakes and confections. I'm known for wedding cakes, but know that I do not want to make cakes anymore. I'm interested in keeping my products that are scalable (client gifts, favors).

I'd also like consult smaller bakery businesses (and aspiring) and create digital product resources (e-guides, online tutorials, etc).

With ALL this said, I'm only one person and I've learned that I can't do it all. I burned myself out so badly with cakes.

My question is… I spent months trying to figure out what to let go of and what not to, but now I KNOW what I want to do (described above) but I don't know how to assess this whole thing… Where do I even start to break down this new direction? I was thinking of focusing on taking on a limited amount consulting and then streamline the heck out of my scalable products and try to find someone that can help me with that part of the business.

I've been consulting for free for experience and now I'm going to promote it more online. I plan to tell people I'm not accepting orders anymore for cakes.

Other than that, how would you recommend I break this down? How would you approach this?

    I'm so f*cking tired

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 05:25 AM PST

    I'm so f*cking tired.

My e-commerce business is not profitable. Did not success. I have many doubts. I lost so many friends. I've been working 12hs a day 7 days a week on my business. My dreams became bigger. I started at 19yr, they were full experience years. I want to give freedom to my family. I want to get that billionarie company. I keep imagining the life I want.

I have so many ideas, and I'm inside my comfort zone thinking about if they're going to succed. I'm not going to think it anymore. I'll start with the tools I have on my scope.

I'll never give up. As Elon Musk says, ''I have to be dead or completely incapacitated.'' NEVER GIVE UP GUYS. YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU ARE JUST A ONE STEP OF YOUR F*CKING DREAMS.

Every time you make a mistake, it isn't a miskate, IT'S A LESSON. Every time you lose money, it's an opportunity to learn NOT TO LOSE IT THAT WAY ANYMORE. Every time you cry, use your tears to FUEL YOUR F*CKING SOUL. Discover your propose. Think bigger and bigger, colonice Mars.

What the h*ll you want in this life, inside a 92.000 billion light years universe, knowing that you are a mark on the canvas of eternity, and the Universe and time is just infinite?

Questions about starting an LLC and personal/ business bank accounts

    Posted: 18 Jan 2022 09:46 PM PST

    Hello!

Thank you for reading this post. After following this subreddit I have found new motivation to try and start a business. I am a licensed professional in California and I am starting an environmental consulting LLC.

I first started out by finding work on Upwork and have a very small, but steady income on there. Since I seem to be onto a somewhat successful an idea, I decided to form an LLC and try to find work locally and would like to move away from Upwork with new clients.

Now that I have started my LLC and I am in the final stages of insuring my business (that was another, separate hassle), I was kind of wondering what I should do next; should I take my EIN and open up a business bank account? Should I also connect said bank account to Upwork and have my funds from Upwork go into my business account?

I am planning to see a tax professional, but won't be for another couple of months. My cousin owns her own business and she recommended that I open a business bank account and start using quick books to invoice clients. Is this the best way to set up the financial infrastructure for my company?

I would like to take the funds I have saved up from Upwork and put them into my business bank account if the consensus is that I should open a business bank account. After reading a post just now about keeping business and personal accounts separate; I wanted to ask if you guys thought that was an acceptable idea.

I also feel like I may have jumped the gun a little by starting an LLC, and now I have to pay the $800 LLC tax fee for starting a business in California. I think could have stayed as a sole proprietor for now, but felt I needed the added protection of an LLC and E&O/general liability insurance considering my line of work as an environmental consultant with a professional license.

Does this sound to anyone like I am heading in the right direction? If anything I said above isn't making sense, I would love to hear some advice, constructive criticism, or just general direction.

Thank you guys for reading and look forward to your responses!

Legal to make a plattform which connects people to share services?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 04:43 AM PST

Lets say Netflix Premium for example. This subscription allows four people to watch. Now my idea would be to build a platform that each of those four would be subscribed to me for a fraction of the whole price and gets the credentials for the account.

So it would basically be sharing a premium account together that its cheaper than buying a normal account alone.

    I just Launched my Business!

    Posted: 18 Jan 2022 10:21 PM PST

So a few weeks ago, I came to this subreddit for help in picking a name for my business, and I was finally able to launch my business last weekend.

We create NFC (Near Field Communication) technology-embedded customizable cards that make social sharing faster and efficient. This card can act as your digital business card!
You can get your own name, logo, and design printed on these cards.

I'm not on this subreddit to sell (I can't ship internationally anyways) but it would help me out a lot if you guys could visit the website once and give me feedback regarding it or the product in general.
