Does it make sense to split roles in a business instead of every job title only doing what they’re designated to do?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 05:55 AM PST

Let me explain in short my business partner and I are looking to assign roles. Her ideal way of doing so is to assign someone a job title and that person completes duties from said job title. Ex. If I'm the inventory manager I will be in charge of ordering stock, updating inventory, making sure inventory is out on the floor, updating the website inventory etc. But I believe that we can take the duties from a job title and split them up into people. Ex. I can be in charge of ordering the stock and updating the inventory and she can be in charge of updating the website & placing stuff on the floor.

Is this atypical and a waste of time? It's only two of us and we run a retail shop, brick and mortar and online. Would love some advice.

Got an offer from a retail owner - What do you think?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 05:21 AM PST

I have an offer from a retail shop owner who wants to sell my handmade bags. I never sold to retail and I've been struggling for months to get a contract. They sent me a consignement contract which I didnt know was used for new products as well - I thought it was only for second hand products. Here are the main contract terms. I have no experience and I would be forever grateful if you could share your thoughts on the contract terms, and any advice for this first experience.

-Consigner will be entitled of 35% of the final prices given by the designer, and Consignee will be entitled of remaining 65% - Final prices should be included of the 5% VAT. - Consignee will provide tags and prices for each item displayed. - Consigner will prepare the payment against the monthly sales report. - Payment will be done via Cheque after 90 days from date of first Invoice received from Consignee - Consigner will not bare any courier charges if applicable. - NO Disclosure of Consignment Agreement or Percentage of the Agreement with other Designers or participants. - All items delivered by Consignee should be in good conditions. - Consigner will be responsible for any damages happening and shall pay consignment percentage (60%) of the product to Consignee. However, any damages found at time of delivery will not be consider.
