“Why hello fellow business people. I too know how to business.”

I got hired as an accountant and the job is 9-5, but my boss says she expects me to be there at 8 and leave earliest at 6, will I get paid overtime or is the 2 extra hours a day not enough?

Title basically. I got hired a week ago, and I had thought it was a 9-5, the HR portal even says 40 hours a week, and I've been coming at 9, doing everything asked of me and then leaving at 5. But today my boss told me I'm needed in the office at 8 and I'm supposed to work until 6-7pm. I didn't know what to say so I just said ok. Are they supposed to pay me overtime or something? It's my first full time job and idk what's going on lol. I do take an hour for lunch when no one in the office eats lunch, maybe that's why?

Is it ok to connect/look up your interviewer(s) on LinkedIn before your interview?

I have an interview for an internship next week and I'm thinking it would be helpful if I can gather information about them before my interview

    Big 4 work load

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 02:29 PM PST

Hey guys, I'm one of those lurkers on this forum and once in a while, I see the compensation thread popping up.

So I thought, why not make a hours worked thread to see how much people actually work in the big 4?

    So the questions are:

    1. Broad location of office

    2. Current job position

    3. Industry

    4. Busy season period

    5. Peak hours in a busy week

    6. Average non-busy season hours

I think I am about to be done

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 03:05 PM PST

I am gonna nature take it's course. I can't put in 10-11 hours daily and bill 7.25 hours. There is alot of new shit comes my way. Each company is different. So many software's that I am supposed to have working knowledge of. So many companies and bank with their own little bank lingo that I am just supposed to be familiar off. Fuck this.

What is a better career path for starting out? EllisDon construction or a Public firm?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 09:47 PM PST

I am graduating soon, and have offers at both EllisDon and mid size accounting firms. What is better to start at? I would get my cpa at both. Would I progress more in my career by starting in public, rather than industry?

I made a big mistake at work?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 11:44 PM PST

Hi everyone. Guess who just made a big mistake at work. So here's the thing. I have been in this company for 3 months now and yeah so I'm still making mistakes here and there lol. I'm in the AR side, working closely with AP & GL as well.

So yeah we're using the SAP system to key in stuff and all. What I did was I reversed the wrong document in around December 2021. And then now today both AP and GL came to find me and asked me why I reversed that particular document. I went to find out and realised I reversed the wrong damn document.

It's 2022 now and yeah we already closed everything in December 2021. I'm freaking out now. The situation is complicated af.

Please advice. I'll probably die tomorrow when my manager asks me why. It's a mistake. A big one?

Please advice. Thank you in advance.

How to make it as a general accountant (fresh grad)

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 06:38 PM PST

Does Audit/Tax from B4 help in building up skills as a general accountant?

One of my goals is to be a General Accountant for a private company. (I'm from the Philippines btw)
