    The workforce narrative is bullshit.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 10:09 AM PST

Everyone post pandemic wants to blame business owners for the divide in the country. I'm a millennial trying to change the baby boomer way of conducting business. I pay living wages and am flexible and understanding and still my employees won't show up. Please see my post history in r/antiwork. I feel used and abused for trying to provide for my family and have a career. Is anyone else losing their mind about people just giving up?

Passing the cost onto the consumer?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 06:38 PM PST

That's literally fine by me. Do it. Just TELL ME you're using the profit from the higher price to pay for your employees' retirement. Or health care.

I'm seeing many posts saying they as business owners can't pay people more because they'll have to raise prices on consumers - as a consumer, if you tell me, I might not mind so much.

I'd gladly pay $12 for a burger if you tell me you're providing a quality job. Not enough places advertise this; I'd choose you over a cheaper or similar alternative.

Customer tabs bounced after 2 months

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 02:40 PM PST

My brother has a bar in Texas one guy has spent 132k (between bottles and tips, he was tipping 20k) in two months he was going 3 times a week for two months. Everything was good but after a week or so the bank started to withdraw the funds.

The manager had a copy of his driver license and debit cards. My brother called the guy and explained the situation and he apologized and said that he would call the bank, they were in conversations but nothing was resolved.

He and his partners have already reached out the bank (local bank) and submitted all the information for a claim and also to the merchant.

Has this happened to any of you? I am shocked on how the bank allowed the transaction if he didn't have funds, his cards are from Chime and Ally if that matters.

What kind of fraud is this?

    Business Purchase Advice

    Posted: 28 Dec 2021 02:02 AM PST

I have recently come into a small amount of money (enough for a nice down payment on a house) that would allow me to get a good size business loan. I am not an expert in anything necessarily and would like some advice on what kind of business to buy. That being said, I do understand that I will have to buy a business from someone who is willing to stay on for six months to a year to train me.

I am looking for something that is "recession proof" and not in the service industry. Additionally, I would like something that I can operate from home as I do not plan on staying in the state that I am in for much longer. If I buy in the state that I plan to move in, I would need to run it from another state temporarily. Any constructive advice is appreciated.

    Suggestions

    Posted: 28 Dec 2021 03:34 AM PST

Hello everyone, I'm new here. So I would like your opinion if it is possible. I'm a master's student, but I don't like what I'm doing right now. I love cooking and reading. So, I was thinking of opening a coffee shop with books. The difference is that I'm Brazilian, and I would like to open this in the US. I would sell Brazilian snacks and sweeties. Do you think this is a good idea or not? Thank you!

    Considerations for Salary Reduction

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 12:21 PM PST

I own and operate an S-Corp as the manager and sole employee. I've just taken a full-time job elsewhere, but will still be operating my business part-time. Because of the resulting reduction of revenue, I need to reduce my salary and just want to make sure I'm aware of any and all red flags with such a change (I've reached out to my accountant with the question, but they're borderline useless and never got back to me). Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

How do you handle shipping and logistics as a small business?

    Posted: 28 Dec 2021 02:37 AM PST

Recently I started a business online. I'm selling magazines and t-shirts. I didn't take it seriously at the beginning, but now receiving like 3/4 orders a day I have to start thinking on methods more efficients to prepare the packaging and to ship.

How do you manage the shipping labels? Do you do them manually?

Also, Im based in Europe, and I'm using the standard mail services of my country. Do you have any advice for this?

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Need feedback from the users

    Posted: 28 Dec 2021 02:14 AM PST

Hello, I have released a beta version of my startup, but I still have almost no clients, which is fine, but I would like to hear some feedback from actual people who use it. It is a website that uses AI to predict stocks that will grow and based on that give you suggestions on what to buy. I would be really grateful if you could visit it and give it a try to share some feedback. You can find it at this link.

    Thank you in advance.

An Online Clothing Retail Platform With Impressive Growth Rate

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 10:23 PM PST

Bluvy is a clothing online retailer aimed at 16-50 years old. We leverage social media as an integral part of our operation and marketing strategy.

It was founded in September 2021. More than ever, we have delivered over 1,890 products to customers while ensuring zero counterfeit operation.

Customers get to order items as made available via our social channels up to midnight for next-day delivery, everyday.

Edit: We started in a stealth mode by restricting our presence to only WhatsApp and growing in that base. Having done this much with a growing audience, we decided to leave the stealth mode and go more full operation as well as further to more locations.

We are looking at having interested partners to help scale our startup as well as introduce technological advances to our mode of operation and visibility.

    PS: Suppliers also needed

    Thank You

    LLC Help

    Posted: 28 Dec 2021 02:06 AM PST

Hello everyone. I recently purchased an LLC with the website Incauthority, since I'm a foreigner I figured that would be the best route to take. I bought both the operating agreement, and the ein add ons. However I received a call yesterday about one of their guys claiming he is one of their lawyers and explaining to me that I need this thing called "Legal separation documents". Which include the operating agreement (which I already paid for), the membership certificate that includes the distribution of the ownership of the business, as well as corporate veil and financial documents, that states how will the regular meetings and minutes of this meetings will go. All of this for the price of $200 which I think is not optional, since the "lawyer " told me he already paid for it and I can just reimburse him via PayPal invoice.

Do any of you guys have any expertise with this? Can my llc work without this $200 package? It just seems a bit fishy to me.

    Really appreciate it, thank you

Ebay Store, New Taxes 2022, LLC?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 09:45 PM PST

Hello! I am eagerly trying to learn more about taxes and corporations since my finance major isnt going over that too much. Well let me get to the point I am a ebay/Mercari seller and i am now trying to really push sales and take it serious while in school these past 2 months i did about 32k in sales and Would like to keep going. I know 2021 still had the 200 transactions and 20k or more which i probably hit half the transaction number so i dont think ill get a Tax bill but now in 2022 its $600 or more so i definitely will be paying in 2023 which is fine but how should i go about this new policy. Should i make a corporation i sell mainly kitchen/household items?, How would deductions work if i buy all my items cash?, How does the 1099 form work?, Invoices?, Deductions?, ANY ADVICE!? Any info would help and of course any taxes resources that would help me learn would be great. Im 18 and have never paid taxes ive just been selling locally for years so this is all new to me. Im excited to see everyones advice thank you!!

Have an idea, but need input and guidance! (Online business idea.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 08:49 PM PST

Evening all. So I am thinking about stsrting an online web business selling nerd/geek merchandise. Something like Thinkgeek used to be before gamestop bought it and phased it out. I beleive the idea is good because nothing has since replaced Thinkgeek, and gamestops UX design makes it near impossible to disover unique, new, and intetesting merch.

My plan so far is to list producrs from other companies through an affiliate relationship. I know this means reduced profits and hard to get some companies on board, but also means no inventory on my end and I can possibly offer a large variety of items. I would lile to develop my own merchandise later on when brand and site more well known.

That is my basic idea at the moment. Not aure wjere to proceed besides implementing a dedicated site, generating a name, and reaching out to merchandisers. Ideas and or thoughts? Please be honest, I appreciate it.

Question: client is slow to pay and now I’ll likely get a transfer on the last days of the year. Since there will be no time to offset, what are my options to avoid the tax hit for 2021?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 02:28 PM PST

Client is a big company that is really impenetrable with procurement and payment details. They have a payment that was supposed to come in 12/19 but they're now saying 12/29. Since there will be no time to offset this with expenses in 2021, I'm worried about getting a tax hit for this revenue for this year. Is there anything I can do if I have no control over when this comes in? Maybe declare the revenue for 2022? Or put some kind of a hold on incoming transfers till 1/1?

    Thanks!

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 11:01 PM PST

Hello everyone! I've been working on this org chart company that offers a tool that helps easily map the org chart of many different companies, target, costumer, etc.

However, it is something new to me, and as a creative director, one of my tasks is to promote and show to potential clients how easy it is to use. I will appreciate it very much if you guys have any advice and/or tips on how to make people sign up to our trial. Also, how can I promote it better or make more people interested in it? Offering a trial is something that brings the customer attention? Is there any key that we are missing out in our tool?

CAUTION: Don't use Stickermule if you care about your IP. Its Terms and Conditions grant Stickermule a license to your content that allows them to do pretty much whatever they want with it (not just to provide you the service. Vista Print does not do this.

    Posted: 26 Dec 2021 01:06 PM PST

I was about to order stickers with my logo from Sticker Mule. Before I did, I checked their Terms and Conditions and was (not) shocked that they pull a shady license grab in their terms. I don't recommend Sticker Mule if you care about your intellectual property.

From the Terms on their site:

By submitting, posting or displaying content on or through Sticker Mule, the User grants a license to the Owner without territorial limits, non-exclusive, royalty-free and with the right to sublicense, to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display, and distribute such content in any media or via distribution methods currently available or developed later.

I'm guessing most similar sites have language like this. This language grants them the right to do pretty much whatever they want with the content you upload.

How do I transition from "individual flipper" to a proper small business

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 04:43 AM PST

I buy and sell a small niche I've worked myself into for the past 15 months with moderate success ($150,000 turnover at 40% profit currently) with very little input. Seeing as how much success this has seen, I'm looking to take this a little more seriously and wanting to transition it over to a business which I can both reap tax benifit (Australia FYI) and to one day sell the business if I so choose.

My entire inventory of items comes from low/poorly marketed items on Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree (Aussie Craigslist?) and just taking nicer photos and selling back to the exact same groups, I just don't know how to build a "brand identity" within this and what steps I need to take to have a marketable product to sell business wise if that makes any sense?

I understand setting up the company and the logistics behind that, I'm just unsure what I need to be doing differently from an operation standpoint

Thank you anyone who can help!

Is a youtube content creator using Vtubing a worthy small business idea?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 08:36 PM PST

I know the risks, I've educated myself on the challenges, but is being a content creator on Youtube a worthy small business idea to fund and grow? I'm going to be making music, covering topics related to the channels I hope to create, live streaming, and sending people down my funnel to a patreon where they can fund me more directly and have greater access to me, including input on the content I create.

Especially being a 3DVtuber like CodeMiko, which is a growing space on Youtube and online platforms in general. I will be entertaining my audience with my personality, and the 3D world I build for them on Unreal Engine. What do you guys think?

    Accounting course recommendations?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2021 06:49 AM PST

Hey all, Does anyone have any recommendations for business accounting courses that are good for a small manufacturing business, and not full of fluff? Background: I'm the second generation of a small manufacturing business with about 15 employees. My Dad ran the business day to day operations with very little accounting knowledge. my mom has always done the payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payables, but she's not a CPA and doesn't have a great grasp on the bigger business accounting aspects. 2 years ago I started buying the company slowly via stock purchase from them. When we started the process I was under the impression they would be able to teach me most of what I need to know, considering they had ran the business and supported their family with it for 45 years. As time has gone on, I've discovered they are doing a lot more fake it till you make it then I thought. I like to think I have an okay grasp on the fundamentals of accounting, but I want to know enough about them to run my business by the numbers, not by the feel. I'm neck deep in the operations of the company trying to run it, and don't have the time for a college course, or an online course that assumes I don't know what a checking account is. Couldn't any of you recommend a business accounting online course or a no-nonsense book?

    Thank you!
