Posted: 07 Dec 2021 09:18 AM PST My parked compact car was hit by someone who has Encompass. They left a note, I filed a claim, car went into the shop and got fixed. I have my car back now. While my car was in the shop I needed a rental car to commute into work. My Encompass adjuster said to pay out of pocket to rent a car from Enterprise and that they'd reimburse me afterwards. They said they didn't do direct billing which surprised me. They also gave me a discount code to use for the rental. They never said anything about what kind of car I could rent or what the max daily rate could be though. When I went into the Enterprise nearest me they only had SUVs and minivans available for rent, no compacts or sedans. Also the coupon code didn't work. I went ahead and got the smallest SUV they had since I needed a car for work. Fast forward a few weeks and I have my car back and I returned the rental and submitted the invoice (which came out to just over $1000 after taxes and fees). The adjuster says you rented a SUV which is bigger than your compact and so the best I can do is $500 for your rental (the total ammount at the set rate for renting a compact for the time I had it out). I argued back that they hadn't told me any of that until now, that I rented the smallest car available at Enteprise at the time, and that the coupon code they gave me to use didn't even work. They held firm and said they could only reimburse me for renting a car similar in size to my own. Now I'm out $500. What are my options? Can I still file a claim with my insurance company to see if I can get the rest of my rental reimbursed? File a complaint with my DOI? Suck it up? I'm in Washington state. [link] [comments] |
Did the insurance sales person mislead me about renters insurance? Posted: 07 Dec 2021 07:51 AM PST I was interested in umbrella insurance because of the idea that it could protect me for malicious prosecution, or like if my kid gets into a fight, to cover lawsuits. Regardless of where this happens. I called up an insurance agency and talked with the sales person. She told me that I don't need umbrella insurance to cover these situations. She said that renters insurance would be sufficient. She noted that personal liability renters insurance covers my whole family against malicious lawsuits, (or the kid fight example), regardless if they happen on my property or not. She said it can be in a school, on the streets, whatever, doesn't matter. I have been checking online, and nowhere do I see that personal liability insurance will cover me outside of my property. Am I missing something? Did the insurance sales agent mislead me? [link] [comments] |
Does anyone know what this hospital code even is for? Posted: 07 Dec 2021 12:38 PM PST I had a number of X-rays done weeks ago because I have constipation, and have had it for life for unknown reasons. They made me come in and swallow some radioactive pills and eat some food with dye in it to see how slow food gets digested by my body. Lone behold, I have met my out of pocket maximum already this year. I get a bill for $506. I look up the bill from my hospital where I had the X-rays all done, and then go to my health insurance sign in. The code is for "0343 A4641"... I asked my doctor's office and my health insurance company several times what this is even for. Legit every single time I get a different answer. First it was "that is for the pills" then it was "no, that is for the physician to read the x-rays"... It is just all bs in my honest opinion. I have asked my hospital billing/coding department to review this internally, and have also asked the radiologist lead doctor to send my insurance company proof that everything done that way was necessary. I typed a similar post about this days ago, and somebody implied that maybe this code "0343 A4641" was supposed to be included in another thing already covered - so maybe the hospital is double dipping and they are in the wrong and insurance is not in the wrong? As usual, the patient is the one having to do all the research and work to get this sorted out... Any suggestions or guidance appreciated. [link] [comments] |
After having a baby, can you only add baby to health insurance? Or could we add the entire family? Posted: 07 Dec 2021 12:30 PM PST Hello! I am due with a baby this summer. I am a teacher and we are on my insurance. (me, husband, son). However after my 12 weeks of FMLA, I can take more time but I will lose insurance. I am hoping to take about 6 weeks extra and go back to work in January if 2023. My husband's insurance is more expensive and shittier. So we want to stay on mine until baby is born, and then use the qualifying life event to add all of us onto his insurance. This way when we lose mine, we will have his. When I return to work and my insurance is reinstated, we will drop the coverage from his work. Does this make sense? His open enrollment is now, so of we added us now we would be paying a lot of money for secondary insurance we just don't need for months. I'm just not sure if we can add everyone to his insurance with the birth of our baby if we didn't have any insurance previously. [link] [comments] |
Stolen Cat on Unregistered Vehicle but Insured Will they Cover it? Posted: 07 Dec 2021 12:26 PM PST Just realized my catalytic converter was stolen but I had lapsed on my registration (needs smog etc) will they cover it? I had canceled insurance for a bit, but then reinstated it-- would that raise a red flag? [link] [comments] |
Billed 11 items at $100-200 each for one swab Posted: 07 Dec 2021 12:22 PM PST I got one swab from my PCP, and the diagnostics center affiliated with them is wanting nearly $1500 for this one pretty basic and common swab to get. There are 11 items on my bill, each with a one digit difference in the billing code, but noted as the exact same thing as the next. Diagnostic center told me to talk to my doctor. Doctor told me to call insurance. Insurance told be to call diagnostic center, and the cycle repeats. What do I do? [link] [comments] |
Hawaii Tesla model 3 SR+ FSD Diminished value (1k for 7k in damage reasonable?) Posted: 07 Dec 2021 11:49 AM PST So, long story short. My 50k dollar car (with packages) is getting offered 1k dollars for 7k worth of damage to it. My car was backed into by a major retail company' vehicle. Thanks to the Tesla's camera's there was no question they were at fault. The Tesla suffered 7000 dollars worth of front in damage including damage to the radiator supports making it structural. The at fault insurance has given me the run around on DV. First DV offer was based on a 4700 dollar final repair and was 350 dollars. After submitting the updated repair of 7k They offered me 600 dollars and came back and said there was no structural damage... So, I pointed out the radiator supports are considered structural at which point they ignored me for 2 weeks and came back with a 1000 dollar offer. Is this a reasonable offer? Side note: During the process of the repair the repair company shattered my windshield getting the hood off they took responsibility so that was not included in the final repair cost as they paid for it themselves. Exact home state definition for Independent Insurance Adjuster. Posted: 07 Dec 2021 11:44 AM PST I currently live in NY and I am planning on moving to Florida in 2022. I asked before which was the best state to get licensed in and I choose to get a Florida State license. Is it possible to have Florida my home state as an Insurance Adjuster while still keeping temporary residency of NY state or do I have to wait to get my Florida residency? It makes no sense for me to take the NY IA license test as I don't plan on coming back. [link] [comments] |
Multiple Imaging requisitions- should they be sent for authorization together or separately? Posted: 07 Dec 2021 11:05 AM PST I have pain from one hip to another and the area in between. After assessments and X-rays and ultrasounds, I've been given an order for by one doctor for a right and left hip mri and another doctor for pelvic/abdominal (since the first doctor said a pelvic/abdominal was out of her scope and the second doctor said the same for the hips). I would like to get all three MRIs done the same time for efficiency and for complete imaging purposes, however I am concerned it could get denied because of the amount and that it's two different ordering physicians. Would it be better in terms of getting insurance authorization to submit all three separately, right and hip together then after that's done send in the pelvic/abdominal, or all three together? Question about auto insurance claim Posted: 07 Dec 2021 09:40 AM PST I was recently pulled over for DWI (booked and spent the night in jail). After I got out, I went to the tow yard to get my car only to find out that my car was missing a tire, rim was messed up and the bumper was missing just on the corner. I want to file a claim with my insurance to see if they can cover the damage, as the police never mentioned anything to me about damaging public property or being in a crash. If I do file a claim saying that my tire went out and exclude the fact that i was intoxicated, and then in the future the DWI goes on my record and it is the same date as my claim, would that considered Insurance Fraud? I'm stuck between paying out of pocket, or running the risk of insurance fraud. [link] [comments] |
Starting to work for a State Farm insurance agency, what can I sell on the side? Posted: 07 Dec 2021 09:16 AM PST I am new to insurance, recently licensed in health, life, P&C. Should I switch from Farm Bureau to Progressive auto? Posted: 07 Dec 2021 08:21 AM PST High-risk driver here. I was in an at-fault accident in September, which also resulted in a ticket (my first ticket!) I also had an at-fault accident in May of 2019. I was on PLPD both times. After my September accident my car was totaled and I had PLPD only because my car was old, so I just cancelled my auto insurance and sold the car as it was. Last month I bought a car and put insurance on it with the same company (Farm Bureau of Michigan). They charged me about $860 (full coverage) for 6 months, raised from about $300 pre-accident (PLPD). Progressive through my credit union is quoting me at $684 for full coverage. Progressive through another independent agent quoted me at like $800. I'm also not eligible for most insurances with my crash/ticket history. Progressive is the only one I've found that will take me. Should I switch? The other issue is that Michigan auto is expensive because it's no-fault. I go to school in IL, so I could apply to change my permanent residence. Don't get into an accident folks! It messes up everything [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Dec 2021 08:05 AM PST Are there any UK-based companies that offer global insurance for travelers? Any recommendations? For context: they are known for better insurance policies and we want to see if there are plans with more coverage or better terms, etc. [link] [comments] |
