Am I being horrendously underpaid or am I being dramatic? Posted: 11 Dec 2021 05:04 PM PST I work in the security/surveillance field. My average year is $3.5 million on products with an average margin of 24% profit. I get a 52K base and 1% of gross sales. COVID destroyed us last year obviously so I'm trying to figure out if I'm letting that cloud my judgement due to all the money lost or if I'm actually being underpaid. EDIT: Alright just to give all the facts so it doesn't seem like I'm just sitting here crying poverty. There is advancement. My base will go up by $5200-7800 annually. The company is run poorly so that spread depends on how the company does as a whole, honestly it comes down to the mood of the owner any given year but it wouldn't be less than $5200. Based on what's happened to other employees, that increase could happen for at least the next 10 years meaning my base could potentially be 130K in a decade. Shitty health insurance though and no dental. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Dec 2021 08:41 PM PST I'm a single 23 year old man who's going to be moving to the west coast for a position with a med device company. I will be driving 2-3 hours away some days for work. I have a 12 year old dog--how do I ensure he's taken care of well? I'd normally say get a friend to check on the dog but I have 0 friends in Sacramento. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Dec 2021 10:31 PM PST I have access to a large amount of solar leads. What would be the best way to sell these contacts? It includes information like previous solar proposals that have been given to these customers. [link] [comments] |
How can I succeed when my employer limits the prospects to an incredibly small amount? Posted: 11 Dec 2021 03:58 PM PST I am new to sales, 2 1/2 months. I am to be selling subscriptions to our online education courses to companies. If the prospect already has a contract for something else from another division, I can't sell to that company. Higher up sales reps in my division are selling another service (which are bigger deals) and throwing in free subscriptions to our online education courses to sweeten their deals. Then I can only sell to companies of a particular size or bigger. Many of those already have a contract for their educational courses with someone else. How is it possible for me to make much in the way of sales? [link] [comments] |

I need help choosing a business major Posted: 11 Dec 2021 11:07 PM PST I need help choosing my business major. I want to work in marketing/sales and would like to eventually work up to a high management role in this area such as chief of sales or similar. Completing a bachelor of communication allows me to get a job in marketing on its own so my question is what would an appropriate business major be to allow me to stand out in this area and give me a leg above the rest? I can choose to do marketing and become really proficient in that area but I also think choosing finance, economics or even accounting would benefit the sales side and any of the money ones are always valued in the business industry, alternatively management is something that is useful in any industry and could also be useful here but I'm unsure what to pick and I have to choose tomorrow [link] [comments] |
Have a question in career sales. Posted: 11 Dec 2021 11:30 AM PST I'm in door to door sales and I understand that it's a decent starting point but I'll want to move on to something else after I get experience. What would you suggestion be as to what I should be aiming for? [link] [comments] |
Sales Email Templates for Holiday season (last touch of year asking for a meeting in the new year) Posted: 11 Dec 2021 06:58 PM PST Hi guys in need of ideas for a final email to prospects wishing them happy holidays and a call to action to take a meeting in the new year? any suggestions or ideas. I'm getting bored with what I'm writing. [link] [comments] |
I'm currently 17. What kind of sales jobs are out there. Posted: 11 Dec 2021 02:37 PM PST So I'm currently 17 and I've been working in sales for the past two years and have been really loving it. I used to work at a small web design/marketing company. There I used to be a sales manager and managed two employees. That business got shut down and for the past 5 months I've been working sales at a dealership selling ATVs, jet skis and boats. And have been doing great. I'm not look to leave the dealership for a while but what are some options for me in Ontario or Canada in general for sales jobs. I only know about real estate and car sales. Please also specify because I don't know the terminology. Ps can someone explain SaaS and how I can find a job in it. [link] [comments] |

Career - Change to management or stay individual contributor Posted: 11 Dec 2021 02:07 PM PST Had a career related question to run by you guys, any advice would be appreciated! Currently a top performer in a SMB role within a F500 company. Being given the opportunity to take on a management role within this space. I have mentored the majority of representatives on my team and the transition would be fairly seamless. Total OTE increase as a manager would similar, if not less than what I'm currently making (+-20k). I would be doing this primarily for the experience and title change. In my mind it would be a great skill set to have if I ever wanted to run my own business one day. The only overbearing negative in my mind is having to chase people for sales when not performing and acting as a 'babysitter' for them. On the other side - many of my peers and people on this sub are switching to SaaS sales (in startup environments) for huge OTE increases. I have technical knowledge (can code, can explain complex topics very easily to others, and am a geek at heart). I know this is an industry I can easily transfer my skills to and make a killing. I have also considered taking my skills and going into a sales engineer, sales enablement, or product role. The money is not comparable but I do have an interest in these types of jobs. Open to thoughts about this point. If you were in my shoes, which avenue would you go down? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |
Commissions Just Got Posted From November Posted: 11 Dec 2021 04:20 AM PST Hi everyone. New member of this sub, but multi-year lurker. I work in B2B IT sales and just closed my best month in my short time selling. Roughly 30k gross. Last month I surpassed my annual quota by 15% and am heading to Club for the first time (my second full year selling). December is shaping up to be a solid month too and with accelerator pay I'm looking at another fantastic month. I wanted to say thank you all so much I've taken some awesome tips from this sub and some tremendous knowledge and support from the stories shared here - without you all knowing directly, you've certainly made an impact on me and my loved one's lives. Seriously thank you for this really cool community. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2021 06:01 AM PST Any advice? Just completed training and I start hitting the phones Monday. Everything is over the phone so at least I don't have to be face to face. This is similar to a carava type experience. So far I know I need to just treat it like a conversation rather than a sale but beyond that I'm scared. Thanks everybody [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Dec 2021 07:44 PM PST I don't meet people face to face, people only come to me in form of chatting. How to sell and close better ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2021 03:11 PM PST I got a job offer with a small SaaS company as an SDR. I really liked the location the product and the people who interviewed me. It seemed like a super upbeat an positive environment. My main stipulation is the pay: 18$/hr IF hitting targets (which they said pretty much everyone does). With potential for a bit more for better performance. This is fine for now as I'm a student and it would be part time. I'm thinking of just taking it now and asking for a raise when I graduate. Right now I will be working part time as a student and they said they would most likely want to take Me on full time upon graduation. Before accepting/decling the offer I'm probably also gonna also ask about what benefits I would get when going on full time (ie health insurance coverage) I also am not really finding anything else close (I don't really want remote) that wants me part time at first. I could wait until I graduate to look for full time employment but I would rather start sooner rather than later. What is your advice/thoughts? Any key issues I'm over looking? Also: this would pretty much my fist sales job From the U.S [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2021 06:36 PM PST Keep it short—in an AE roll currently and love it. Not sure if it will be a lifelong career, but super enjoyable and I love the ways I've developed over the last couple years. For reasons of personal growth, as well as career, I'd like to continue developing leadership traits through this job, potentially moving towards management long-term (not necessarily sales leadership, though possibly). What does it look like to grow in leadership when you're carrying a full quota? [link] [comments] |
How important are Holiday gifts for your clients Posted: 11 Dec 2021 02:49 PM PST How important is it to send your clients gifts during the holidays? And if important and the company you work for does not support giving gifts (financially), should it be on the sales team to pay for it? [link] [comments] |
Anyone in merchant processing services? Posted: 11 Dec 2021 02:43 PM PST I'm looking to get some advice on what you're looking for in a merchant processing services solution. I'm the new PO on a CRM and.... there's room for improvement. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll build it for you!

Posted: 11 Dec 2021 10:39 AM PST For reference, I sell home remodeling projects (windows, siding, roofing, doors) to homeowners. This is my first sales job, and I only started a few months ago. We sell pretty high quality products with no tiered structure for cheaper/lesser quality - and because of this - our prices are pretty high. We recently had a price bump and I've hit a small slump since they went up. It's tough to decide whether cheaper/lower quality products would net me more sales/commission than selling fewer, but more expensive and higher quality jobs. I suppose it's ultimately on the buyer and their priorities. That being said, just looking for casual input from people who have more experience than me, and people who work in home remodeling would be even better. [link] [comments] |

Fair hourly + bonus for a prospector? Posted: 11 Dec 2021 05:19 PM PST My prospector would be helping me call a skip traced list of owners of properties or situations in disrepair. He'd offer to buy the house, not for a high price but a fast, painless turnaround. After getting details about the home and seller's desires, I would call the seller back with an offer if the deal looked good. Can you guys help me ballpark a fair hourly wage and commission to the prospector, if the deal closes? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2021 03:53 PM PST I've started selling snacks (chips) energy drinks and sodas at my school can I get any advice on how to sell I've been going, up to students asking if they want to buy some monster or some pringles, but it doesn't work can I get any advice? [link] [comments] |
