67% of Americans believe lawmakers should not own stocks Posted: 06 Nov 2021 04:15 PM PDT There are good reason for that "44 members of Congress have violated a law designed to stop insider trading and prevent conflicts-of-interest"
The penalty was usually small — $200 is the standard amount — or waived by House or Senate ethics officials. This is very high contrast to those who are exposed otherwise. Just a couple of examples down below: CNBC: "Senior management, newsroom staff, on-air talent and their spouses and dependents are prohibited from owning individual stocks and bonds and have until January 2005 to liquidate their holdings. Other CNBC employees will be subject to a no-trading policy." Air Traffic Controllers: Can't own stock in any airline or aerospace company. While they can no affect on any of these companies or any sort of insider knowledge - they are not allowed. What's your view? [link] [comments]
How is Tesla worth more than Facebook Posted: 06 Nov 2021 11:06 AM PDT How are people still bullish on Tesla? Last year they did 31B in revenue and < 1B in earnings. Facebook (Meta) did 86B in revenue and 29B in earnings. Facebooks profits were almost more than Tesla's total revenue. FB profit margins are far better than TSLA, they have much more cash on hand and a far better balance sheet when looking at total assets over liabilities. If you're still buying shares of Tesla or holding please explain why because I just don't understand it. I do think Tesla will be a great company over the next 10 years but I feel all their growth potential is already factored into the stock price and that's best case scenario. And for that reason I think FB stock will far outperform TSLA over the next 10 years. The only justification I can see for TSLA being worth more than FB is… bubble. [link] [comments]

The continuous semiconductor shortage Posted: 06 Nov 2021 04:45 PM PDT Dr. Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, said back in September that the situation would improve over the coming year, 2022. I myself am invested in AMD but am currently looking for a semiconductor manufacturer to put some dough in, as well. How are your plays looking for the coming years? [link] [comments]

House Passes 1.2T Infrastructure Bill - Budget breakdown provided News Posted: 05 Nov 2021 09:44 PM PDT Just Some of the Key Points related to the macroeconomic impact of the bill. Cheer! The House passed a roughly $1 trillion public works bill, sending to President Biden's desk a generational investment in roads, bridges and rail that had languished for several months as Democrats feuded over the terms of its approval. Negotiated and approved by a bipartisan group of senators this summer, the bill reauthorizes existing federal infrastructure programs for five years and pours an additional $550 billion into water projects, expanding access to broadband internet and overhauling the electrical grid, among many other measures. The public works legislation puts $65 billion toward improving the electrical grid and energy production, $50 billion toward making infrastructure more resilient to cyberattacks and natural disasters and roughly $7.5 billion toward building additional charging stations for electric vehicles. While they have applauded those measures, progressives have said they are insufficient without the tax subsidies and other measures in the social-spending bill as they pushed for a simultaneous vote on the broader bill. CBO found this summer that the infrastructure bill -- financed by repurposing existing government funds, among other measures -- would contribute $256 billion to the deficit over a decade. Once it passes the House, though, the social-spending bill would face changes in the Senate , where Democrats control a bare 50-50 majority. Republicans are expected to unanimously oppose it in both chambers. The House's plan to raise the $10,000 cap on the state and local tax deduction to $80,000 for nine years also faces possible revisions in the Senate because of opposition from some lawmakers. After the Senate finishes its work on the bill, a process that could take weeks, it would come back to the House for another vote, meaning Democrats could still be working on the legislation until the end of the year. Posted: 06 Nov 2021 01:04 PM PDT Started investigating INTC and some competitors to form a strategy and in doing so found some conflicting info. Looked at some long term stock forecasts from CNN Money on both companies here: Given the current climate surrounding semiconductors I figured NVDA would be a good play mid to long term; however, it seems that analysts expect the stock price to reduce to roughly 235.0 over the next 12 months. On the other hand, the opposite is expected for INTC with the price hitting somewhere in the range of 55.0 to 80.0. I fully expected NVDA to rise in value and same with INTC for that matter. Is INTC undervalued and NVDA overvalued? Also, is any of CNN Money's analysis valuable? [link] [comments]
