Man threw my three pound dog hard and he is in the hospital now

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 05:16 AM PST

An apartment next to mine caught on fire, my apartment is ok, and we evacuated. I had the dog wrapped up in a blanket on my chest. A random man (possibly drunk) was screaming his children were in the building (yet he was outside by himself) and he was fighting with a woman on the street. He grabbed my dog out of the blanket and threw him hard at the woman and on the concrete and my dog immediately got stiff as a board and unresponsive and we took him immediately to the hospital. There were police and fire outside the apartment, and around 30 witnesses who saw the whole thing. What are my options? This guy lives in our building.

Edit: He lives a couple floors above us, and he will be released on Monday. We feel unsafe in our apartment seeing as he knows where we live and are investing in a RING camera. Is there anything we can do?

Ex husband trying to force me to change my name and refusing to return my pet to me

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 05:12 AM PST

My ex husband and I are divorcing, it was a very clean divorce in the beginning but he's since gotten his family involved and they're all saying quite nasty things about me and he's harassing my family and friends. He's come up with trying to force me to change my name back to my maiden name or he's threatened to contest the divorce saying I slander his name (he honestly does it to himself already by being a nasty individual). He's also withholding my personal belongings and my cat. Her papers have my name on them. I moved to the south again and he lives in MD. Can he force me to change my name and can he legally keep my personal effects and cat from me? My family gives me mixed answers and brings up lawyers but I cannot afford one at this point. I fled from the marriage a number of months ago to get away from his abuse and I just don't know what to do.

URGENT!! My family believes our neighbor has kidnapped someone. What can we do to help? [USA, MD]

    Posted: 06 Nov 2021 03:56 PM PDT

We kept hearing these random bursts of banging on the walls next door. Even when it is clear no one is home. There are only two people supposed to be living there. A woman and her "brother." They look nothing alike, and the brother is only there at random times.

It gotten so ridiculous that my parents got fed up and tried knocking back with the handle of our broom… only to have banging come back in the EXACT same patterns. We even have videos as proof (although I won't share them here as my parents are very private and don't like their faces online.) Also, when the "brother" is there, the banging stops. Only when he leaves does it start again.

We have contacted the police. 4 times. But the cops have said basically unless there's probable cause, there's nothing they can do. Although they did find something strange when the homeowner let them look around the living room: there was basically no furniture.

We have to wait until Monday to show the evidence to the property manager so they can search the home, but we're worried that they can move whoever is in there before then. If this IS someone in danger, I am very scared and want to save their life while we have the chance.

Is there ANYTHING we can do? Or any kind of resources that can help?

EDIT: Woah, I did not expect this to blow up at all. I took an anxiety break from Reddit since this was stressing me out and I was getting some pretty shitty messages trying to accuse me of being fake and all together became overwhelming. Thank you all so much. I will talk to my parents in the morning and keep you updated. We will be calling in the gas leak.

EDIT 2: Just called the FBI as many of you requested, first person I contacted was annoyed and went "you know it's 1:30am right" 🙄 and then the second guy who took down the story I've told you all basically seemed to shrug most of it off but I hope it leads to something more than nothing. I know there's not a lot they can do but I hope this at least starts a paper trail.

EDIT 3: My post got locked for some reason, but for anyone still checking someone in my county (u/SBanks52) actually commented on this post who knows police locally whom I have messaged just now. To answer any questions: The police said they need probably cause to get a warrant, not to simply check the home. I'm not a lawyer, I'm not wording things great because A) I'm not well versed in this shit and B) I'm not the one who directly talked to the cops, it was my parents. I keep saying we in the story because my entire family is involved, I'm not the only one dealing with this so it's multiple peoples story I tried to condense. I came to Reddit cause I'm the only one who uses it and assumed you guys could help. Audio of the videos for the skeptics as well: https://voca.ro/1jzs4dKbRSRH https://voca.ro/1iDnOFqGpt10 https://voca.ro/1b54bTvWyPMa Tho those who have helped so far: thank you so much. To those who haven't and just want to try and poke holes in a story where someone's life could be in danger for funsies: fuck off please. Not everything on Reddit is fake.

Apartment block is infested with roaches. Landlord doesn't actually solve the problem.

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 08:00 AM PST

So I'm renting an apartment [Baltimore county] that's nice and affordable but the problem is I keep seeing roaches every now and then. I've put down traps which seems to have slowed them but they keep showing up. I think the whole blocks infested. I've called the landlord twice and each time she sent an exterminator by who's sprayed some liquid around in my kitchen and that's it. And then maybe a day or two later I start seeing roaches again. Can I withhold rent until the problems actually fixed?

Landlord falsified address and information on protection order against me as retaliation for lawyering up - safe to enter my own home?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2021 08:13 PM PDT

This is a conundrum, so I'm trying to be as clear as I can, I am sorry in advance for the length. I am based in Chicago, west side.

Yesterday my roommate and I were served with protection orders from my landlord that bans me from my own apartment, so I had to leave or else the police were going to take me out in cuffs. They reassured me that this is not an actual eviction, that he cannot touch my belongings or pet, and they triple advised me to lock my bedroom door and take all my keys - to my room and my apartment. I know he's going to try for an eviction but I can't even be served now since I'm not home, so he fucked himself there, I guess.

My landlord claims that we have been harassing him and sending him death threats via Telegram - something neither of us use and they can subpoena my phone records if they want, those will clear me. He also claimed I am his ex, I'm suicidal and need a mental evaluation - all of which is false. (I'm queer.) How he got a judge to sign off of this, I don't know. I was completely blindsided. I know this was a retaliatory action to my contacting Legal Aid last month about him harassing me and trying to illegally evict me. And I know this because he flipped out and started threatening me when he found out.

False allegations aside, I'm looking at this order of protection. He lists my address as his home address. He does not live here, never has, he constantly brags about living in a condo in a richer part of town. He also lists a residential address that he claims as his, but it's incorrect. I know my area like the back of my hand. The street listed is not in my zip code. I actually know the street, I used to work near it years ago. So it's a real building number and street, but the zip code is highly incorrect. He combined his address with my address purposely. It's also crossed out and written over in the "Possession of Residence" section of the order. I want to post a pic but I believe this would be against the rules. He also claims I'm trying to keep him out of his own home when again, he does not live here - which I can prove in two seconds - and I have told him routinely he has to give everyone in the home 48 hours notice before he comes over. (Which he routinely ignores and threatens to evict me over.)

This is causing an area of contention between myself and the roommates in the house who have NOT been served a single paper. They want me to come home. They have seen the papers and say there's too much conflicting information, he provided false addresses, he does not live there and it wouldn't be violating the order. I want to go home, so so bad. I'm scared he's going to take advantage of this, destroy my property and steal my cat (he's OBSESSED with her and wants his cat to have a friend). But I also don't want to go to jail for trespassing and violating the order, even though it's all false. What do I do?

(Yes, I've reached out to a lawyer. They want this case, bad. They want to get the order dissolved immediately so I can get my shit, get out, and then sue tf out of him on contingency, but they can't give my any advice until I give them the $2500 retainer fee.)

[WA] I’m being charged for a product that was never delivered

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 03:35 AM PST

I purchased a games console from the Microsoft website almost 2 months ago now, but I never actually got it. They posted it with a courier service I hadn't heard of before, (it wasn't ups, usps nor fedex) and the delivery guy said that they couldn't deliver it, even though they never came by. But they never gave a reason for why they couldn't. that was about late September. Microsoft updated their order website to say I'd be refunded in about a week.

A week goes by with no refund, so I look to see on the delivery website, and it shows that they've attempted a delivery every single day, and are scheduled to do so again the next day, even though i haven't seen them once. I call the courier to ask what that was about and they say they haven't been told that they shouldn't deliver it, so I can just come to their office to pick up the package. When I get there, they can't find it, and promise to call me that evening/the next morning. They never called me. I've actually called them a couple times a week since then, and each time they promise to call back the next morning, but never do.

So at the same time I'm talking with the delivery company, I'm also talking with Microsoft to get a refund, which is not happening for some reason I'm not sure of. so eventually a customer support person tells me that I need to request a return, and I'll just get my money back since I haven't signed for the product yet. This person's advice seriously effed everything up, since now Microsoft canceled their "refund ", and now won't give me my money back until I give the physical product back to them, which I can't do since I haven't received it myself yet.

I've explained my issue with the delivery company to at least 3 or 4 different Microsoft people, and they all either walk me through the steps that end in me requesting a new return, or just say someone will get back to me in 3-5 business days, even though no one ever does.

I thought it was weird that no one has responded to me from 2 different companies, so I've even tried giving them an alternate phone number AND email where they can reach me. No dice.

Finally the most recent Microsoft person I spoke with on the 27th of October told me that they're not refunding me, because it was delivered. I go back onto the courier website, and see it does in fact say "delivered" on 18-October, even though their website didn't say delivered when I checked it between the 18th and the 27th, nor did the courier service say it was delivered when I called them between the 18th and the 27th. No one in my household, nor my neighbour have seen this fabled courier truck at any point over the past month. It says a signature is required, but the given signature is just signed "MISSING ", though it's still catagorized as being delivered. But it doesn't give me like the time it was supposedly delivered, or anything else beyond the above info.

I had enough of this, so I contacted my bank and said I wanted to cancel that transaction and explained everything that's happened, and they told me that it was a legitimate purchase that I made with my debit card .

I don't know how to "prove " that I didn't receive a product, especially when the delivery company apparently has some form of something that says they successfully made a delivery that never happened.

So what, do I just need to accept that I lost my $300?

Is fingering without consent considered rape in every situation?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 06:16 AM PST

I filed a Title IX report to my undergrad and the Title IX officer said that that could be considered rape? Which sounded very overwhelming to me at the time when I thought I was just filing a report for sexual assault.

Does anyone know a subreddit I can post my specific situation to ask what I can do to take action?

My Nephew had no home. Legal advice needed!

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 01:38 PM PST

So my sister(25) had her daughter taken away and is currently pregnant. From the sounds of it CPS is going to step in and take her child away when he is born. She is currently in the hospital for mental health issues. She was on antipsychotic medication but got off when she got pregnant. (She has been seeing and hearing things that aren't there, having delusions, thinking people are trying to kill/poison her, etc.) My mom and dad signed her in and she is likely going to a mental health facility for at least 30 days. She is due to have my nephew in less than 3 weeks. She doesn't know who the dad is seeing as she had been sleeping with 3 different people at the time of conception. I've spoken to all 3 of the prospective fathers and they are all willing to get paternity tests. The problem with this is my sister is in denial and things she knows for certain the dad, even though she was with all 3 of them around that time. None of the men will be there when she gives birth. So no one will be on the birth certificate except for her. My sister and I spoke about me taking him in until she can get everything figured out, but she has now changed her mind about this. She thinks I'm not trustworthy because I helped my parents get her help. (She doesn't think she needs help, she thinks she is seeing things because she believes in god, something spiritual and not mental health related.) I guess my question is, is there anything we can legally do to keep my nephew in the family and not be placed into foster care? I've spoken to a lawyer about guardianship, but now that my sister won't sign the paperwork that is off the table. I have everything prepared for him to come live with me, and I own my own business so I can take as much time off as possible.

A scammer is creating me legal problems ?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 07:43 AM PST

    • Hey guys , so I recently found myself in a difficult situation financially so I decided to sell some stuff that I dont use or need anymore to gather some extra money from here and there.
    • I have a 8 months little baby girl and things are harder for us.

VERY IMPORTANT : I live in a third world country with poor economy ( average salary 200$ / month )

    • Two weeks ago I found someone who was interested to buy my Steam account high LVL 100 + 300 games in library ( I built this account over the course of 10 years ) so since I struggle with money I decided I can live without it. We agreed to 150USD and everything went smoothly . The buyer sent me the money via PayPal and I provided him with the access to the account witch he eventually changed email and password . ( as agreed ) He was really happy with the purchase thanking me multiple times , I was excited as well and everything was great.
    • After our business concluded of course I withdraw the money and used it for my needs ( mostly food & dippers for my 8 months baby girl )
    • FAST FORWARD 14 days later I receiving this EMAIL from PayPal : You received a new case >The buyer stated the the item was defective or not as described. And basically stating that he requested a refund. When I logged in into my PayPal account I was surprised to see my balance was negative ( -150$ USD ) with red colour.
    • ( A temporary hold was placed on the transaction amount so I am not in debt yet ) but I assume I will be if the situation will end up in the buyer favour.
    • Of course PayPal encouraged me to solve this issue with the buyer ( talking with him and reach a mutual agreement ) to avoid escalation but at that point I realised I have to deal with a SCAMMER so I decided to ESCALATE the issue myself .
    • I stated exactly what was happening : The buyer purchased a digital item 14 days ago ( a video-game account ) and the item was delivered exactly as described . The buyer was happy with the purchase and CURRENTLY the buyer has FULL ACCESS to the account ( he changed email and password ) so I am unable to recover it. I believe the buyer is trying to commit fraud by requesting a refund after so much time .
    • NOW MY QUESTIONS ARE :
    1. How do you guys think this will be solved ? If someone has a similar experience how did it get solved .
    2. What else can I do in this situation ? Any advice is much appreciated.
    3. What will happen If I leave my balance negative ? Because 150$ FOR ME its A LOT right now and I honestly have to make HUGE SACRIFICES to pay that money back and even if i do that ITS NOT FAIR .
    4. Can I get in legal trouble with PayPal ? How on earth people can simply get a refound just by saying " The item is not as expected " This scammer are literally getting away with free stuff !!

Apartment door lock malfunctioned, landlord claims tenants must pay $525 locksmith fees. Brooklyn, NY

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 06:44 AM PST

My apartment door lock malfunctioned late last night, preventing tenants from entering the unit. We were directed to search for our own emergency locksmith and that we are required to pay for the repair.

More information: we left the lock in working order and did not damage or try to force entry when we discovered issues with the lock jamming. We tried three separate sets of keys to enter, all failed to unlock the door. We captured video of this issue, clearly showing various keys failing to unlock. The locksmith confirmed this was a lock malfunction and not caused by tenants/use or force or improper use, and this was not a issue of "lockout" as defined in the lease as we had the keys. Is it legal for landlords to refuse to pay? What can we do?

[USA, MD] My roommate's girlfriend recorded my therapy session without my knowledge or consent. Then told my friends about the content and recording

    Posted: 06 Nov 2021 10:11 PM PDT

At the end of September, my roommate's (he also owns the house) girlfriend was over for the night and I had my therapy session in my office. It's about 10 feet away from their bedroom and there's a washing machine in a closet between the two rooms. My roommate told me he could never hear me from their bedroom for the year and a half I lived there, but I started the washing machine just in case and went about my therapy session. My roommate left to go to work and she was in their bedroom at the start of the session.

In that session, I vented about her and him, and some of the things she's putting him through. At some point, she came out of their room and she started recording my therapy session from the hallway without me knowing. She then told my roommate when he got home that I caused her to have a panic attack based on what I said. He supposedly explained that it was a therapy session, but that didn't matter to her. Then, he went and told all of our mutual friends that "what I said was so horrible that I can't even repeat it" and they have ostracized me from our friend group without even knowing what I said. I talked to my therapist the next week and he said it was normal venting and wasn't malicious at all with what we were talking about.

I've talked to a lawyer in the building I work in, and he said there's not much I can do without a copy of the tape. I would still like to file a HIPPA complaint as she's also an EMT and should know not to record a therapy session. I have a screenshot of one friend saying there's a recording, and another former friend told me on the phone that the recording exists.

I tried messaging her a few days ago asking for a copy and for her to delete the original, but she blocked me before she saw it.

Could I file charges and sue for illegal wiretapping if I don't have a copy of the tape? (MD is a two way consent state) And would a HIPPA complaint even be valid if I don't have the tape? I mostly just don't want a copy of my therapy session out in the world.

(New York) Does this violate doctor/patient confidentiality?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 01:40 PM PST

Some backstroy: I still live with my parents. I am bisexual, but am not out to them. I was at the doctor discussing some sexual issues and said that for any follow-up, they could call my home phone, but stressed that they could only leave messages on my cell. This is in writing on a patient information sheet in their records.

The doctor called my house and said that he wanted to follow up and further discuss my sexual habits, particularly those with men, and then he might be able to recommend a specialist for the issue I had spoken to him about. Well, nobody was home, he left a voicemail, and my parents got to it before me. So not only did he out me to my parents, but he also gave them unwarranted information on my health, despite me specifically stating no voicemails on that number. Does this violate confiendiality?

    Watching movies in Discord

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 01:10 PM PST

    Hello

I recently moved to Germany and became familiar with their strict copyright and pirating laws which cost a hefty fine. I know that watching movies from free sites like 123movies is illegal here and obviously torrenting but I was wondering what if my friend from another country is streaming a movie in discord (which he downloaded illegally) and I join to watch is that the same as me watching from 123movies? Do I get fined for it?

My father hoards government trust funds entitled to my siblings and I and barred us from receiving any of it.

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 01:06 PM PST

So my dad's side are direct descendants of those impacted by the nuclear testing at Bikini Atoll. Long story short, the government created whats called the Bikini Resettlement Trust Fund as compensation for relocating everyone off those islands for tests or radiation affliction. But years have passed since my parents were originally together and my estranged father doesn't communicate with us. Fortunately, the rest of his family keeps contact with us but theyre always reminding us about these funds he takes for himself when they are rightfully ours. It would be nice if I could use these funds towards college but the problem is all parties available to me are not too knowledgeable about where or who to go to for this.

I've looked on government websites and reached out on 'contact us' sections to of no avail. My mother used to have a contact from the time she lived there with my father in the Marshall Islands but he pretty much received intimidation and threats from my father, and that was the last update we ever had about the funds years ago.

Where or what should I do if I can even do anything? Thanks in advance!

[NC] Dept collection on prior tenant

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 12:46 PM PST

My wife and I received a debt collection notice for a power company account addressed to the apartment complex, not to us by name. Based on accessing our account with the company, and the information provided, the due date was for 2 weeks after we moved in so this is probably for the prior tenants. The complicating factor, is that we left our mail sitting around and this did not get opened until a little over a month after the date on the statement. On the back of the letter, it states that "Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receiving this notice that you dispute the validity of this debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid." They also say that if we request in writing 30 days after receiving, they will provide us "with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor. They don't say anything about what it means for them to "assume this debt is valid" or if we send them any of this in writing after 30 days.

What is our obligation regarding informing this company they have the wrong creditors?

Are there any actions including contacting the collection agency that they have the wrong creditors or disputing the validity that could make us liable for this debt?

Because this debt does not have our name on it (just the apartment complex) do we need to do anything about it?

[USA, FL]CO-worker stole my prescription medication. I am calling the police tomorrow. What do I need?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 12:05 AM PDT

So I accidently left my prescription medication at work and a co-worker stole it. I know this because I looked back on the camera and you can see him taking the bottle out of the 'lost and found' drawer (where he put the bottle earlier, I went all the way back and tracked the movement of the bottle) ingesting some of the pills and then putting the bottle back, later he takes the bottle out and doesn't put it back. This is all on camera. It's a schedule II controlled substance mind you.

So I reach out to the my boss and they say its 'above their pay grade' (Read: We are going to dump it on someone else until we can find someone who has the balls to say they aren't going to do anything about it.) which is to say they have done nothing. Meanwhile I don't have my medication and I can't get a refill unless I have some sort of proof it was stolen and that I didn't just sell it. So I gotta get the police out here.

What should I expect? Any chance they actually do anything besides go "Oh wow it looks like he ate all your pills, we aren't going to do anything, here's your report number"?

Is it REALLY the responsibility of the resident if someone backpacks into their building behind them?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 11:45 AM PST

My building wants us as residents to prevent people coming in behind us when we enter the building. I wouldn't stand a chance if they were violent and that is a very real possibility here. We have security at night but not during the day, is it the residents responsibility to prevent backpacking? I'm too afraid to confront or prevent it if it happens to me.

Can I sue for false advertising?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 07:57 AM PST

I have a small business and bought gemstones from a large craft store chain. The packaging indicates that they're genuine. I bought them a month ago believing that they were real.

Fast forward to now. I've been selling them in products for a month, and a gemologist bought a set to add to their collection. They tested them, and sent me the results of the test. The gemstones are all glass fakes.

They sent me a video of them opening the package, taking the stones out of the product, and testing them. No editing was involved, so I know it was the ones I purchased and sold.

I plan on going to the store I bought the gemstones from and asking to return what remains for a refund, since they're all fakes. I don't see them doing it, and I'm wondering what my next steps should be if they don't.

I believe it is false advertising, as it says on the package that they're gemstones and not glass. I'm having to issue refunds/coupon codes to anyone who purchased a product containing gemstones in them, so I'm losing out on hundreds of dollars because of it.

Is it best to seek a lawyer regardless of whether they'll accept a return or not? Should I just accept the refund and leave it at that if they will? Or should I just cut my losses now?

ETA: This specific chain has been sued multiple times over the last few years for false advertising.

Unavoidable Gap in Car registration/titling due to county having 3 month wait time. [Colorado]

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 11:42 AM PST

    So first off, the basics

    • I am Former Active duty military

    • My home of Residence is in Colorado, therefore I have a CO license

    • I bought my vehicle in NC where it was registered and titled there

    • I don't have the title as the car is on a car loan, but I do have the bill of sale.

Basically when I was in NC I bought a car and it was registered in NC as I was active duty and living there. Now that I've returned to Colorado I need to title and register my car. My current NC registration expires this month.

I was unaware the county clerk person (as they are who handles this in CO) had a 3 month waiting list to see them. After I went to schedule this appointment I found this out. The problem now is that my registration is going to expire before I can get my new registration in CO.

    But wait, there's more.

In order to register/title my car in colorado I need either the title (do not have) or a current registration. NC will not allow me to re-register my car as I no longer live in that state.

How am I supposed to title my car in CO with a current registration if I can't register my car in either state?

My Parents, Mother - Stepdad have told me they are going to put our house in an LLC with their and my names attached to it to so the airport we live near can't somehow take and or do anything to our property. I'm wondering specifically what they could even be concerned about as so far as I'm aware the airport doesn't have any rights that would effect our plot in any meaningful ways disregarding hight related building. I'm also concerned as to what specific control over the property I would have if it were injected into an LLC.

Some specific information to help. We live in Las Vegas, Nevada, we live right off the corner of the major airport and not in line with the runway, the airport bought out all but 3 residential homes in the past. I don't know if this is relevant but our zone changed to commercial a few years after they did so our residential house still remains. Our home has been in my mothers name since 2001 fully paid off, my stepfather has never and isn't married or legally joined with my mother.

So specifically my questions are what could the airport even do and why would an LLC even protect the house, also what advantages or disadvantages are there for me if I'm the one who they intend will inherit the house if it's attached to a LLC with their names as well?

My former roommate has accused me of taking her blender, but I don’t have it

She's asking me to replace it, but I don't have the damn blender!

I don't put it past her to try and sue me in small claims court over it. Would a dispute over a $30 blender even make it to court? I'm not trying to invite drama, so if replacing it means she'll leave me alone, i'd consider it, but i dont fucking have it, so why should I??

Need help with my Mother in Law !!!

    Posted: 07 Nov 2021 07:15 AM PST

Me (24)and my husband(26) have been living with his mother for about 4 years down in Florida. As of recently she suffered a stroke and isn't considered brain dead, as she can breathe on her own but can't eat or use the bathroom or move. Cannot talk or really recognize anyone and is paralyzed on her right side. Before this happened she took care of everything. All her bills. We found out that she did not create a will like she said she would. She owns the house and 2 cars that we use. Things are paid off just there's no will to claim anything. We have access to her bank account on the home computer and other accounts to keep bills paid but we don't know where to go from here. We will talk to a social worker on Monday. And we are still waiting on a MRI to see how damaged her brain is. We just don't know what's going to happen with everything. If she's considered brain dead then everything goes into probate. Will we be homeless intill thats settled ? If she's considered incapacitated what will happen to her bank account ? Will we turn into her guardians? We don't know what to do and we know a social worker will help monday but if anyone can help us now it would be greatly appreciated.

My girlfriend's employer wants me to report my investments to them. Do I have to?

My significant other works in a consulting firm, and they have to report their investments to their employer to keep in compliance with some laws. This makes sense to me, they need to make sure their employees aren't doing insider trading and since they know about internal affairs of a lot of companies it's a problem, that's fine.

However, because I live with my SO they claim that I am a spouse equivalent and must report my investments to them. I didn't mind that much at first and gave them access to my stock account. It's annoying though because I have to ask my SO to greenlight every new company I invest in (even though they have access to see the trades I make). This wasn't a problem when I would do one investment each paycheck, but now that I want to be a more active trader it's a huge inconvenience to me and my SO.

Do I actually have any obligation to my SO's employer to follow their rules about investing? I'm not planning on buying stock in any company that I think may be related to their work. I just don't want to deal with their procedures.
