Why don’t big fast food chains build their own supply chain? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 10:08 PM PDT From what I could find, all fast food chains choose to contract their entire supply chain thought various vendors for raw ingredients, production, and transport. Why is this? Wouldn't it be more cost effective and more stable to create their own supply chains? Is there some unspoken agreement that if a company tried this they would be put on a black list and all current contracts would stop doing business with them? [link] [comments] |

Continue my pursuit to become a full-time trader or start up a renewable energy contracting company? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 04:19 PM PDT Hey guys! So I've been in an internal battle with myself for the past year-torn between continuing my pursuit as a full time trader, or starting up a renewable energy service company. A little background of my current status, I'm currently 24 years old, I just got married and have a 5 year old boy. I've been working as a Wind Technician with a major utility company for 3 years now, and have been advancing quickly, currently waiting for a wind site manager position to open up near me. Over the past 5 years i've been trading stocks, options, and futures. It's been a mentally consuming(or should I say devastating) process, with nothing but losses. It's been one of the most grueling and challenging things I have ever pursued. Some days I feel like i'll never figure it out but I refuse to give up. It's been a dream of mine since high school, and i've put in a stupid amount of time and effort into trying to make it happen: notebook full of trading strategies using technical analysis, backtesting my trading plans for hours upon hours, paper trading, multiple books read, posting on charts on trading view, tweaking my trading plan/rules over and over and OVER again. I've went through cycles(trading strategy, rules, risks management, emotions etc.) trying to correct my negative behavior that has been causing me to lose, and im pretty much on the last "cycle" of tweaking which is correcting my mental phycology and learning how to deal with my emotions while trading as well as maintaining discipline following my trading rules. One of the biggest reasons why I continue to pursue this is the freedom and time it could provide for me to spend time with my family. Currently I drive 2hrs to and from work, and average about 50-60hrs a week. With a typical 8hr day at work, with the drive, and required lunch(.5hrs), that's a guaranteed 10.5hrs I am away from home. Now I dont mind working overtime and I feel like it is a necessity for me to advance in my career and provide for my family + fuel my trading pursuit, it doesn't seem sustainable and this bring me to the reason why I am torn between trading and starting my own company. In order to build a successful company providing contractor services in the renewable energy industry, it's almost guaranteed that I will be away from home for no less than 2 weeks at a time for at least the first 2 years. Wind/solar sites are scattered all over the U.S., and I'd have to take what I get as far as contracts go, not only that but to establish the correct work/safety standard and expectations I plan on being out there with my guys (I don't really see any other option) on the first projects that we get. I've already put the numbers in perspective with a short 2 page rough draft that I've developed on if this company would be successful and I believe it would be. I know the amount of time and effort it would take and I know I can put in the work but it comes with a costly sacrifice, and that's time with my family. The other issue im having is finding a partner, I've asked 3 people so far, even laying out my rough draft in front of them, with no luck. It would be more feasible with an experienced partner as we could split the time out in the field, but it's come to the point where I can't find anyone qualified to say yes. Im at the point where im just going to pull the trigger myself. If this was to happen I know it's put a strain on my family, as I find myself being completely focused and consumed on work when the grind time comes, finding myself working ridiculous hours 80-100hrs/week to complete my mission. I've talked to my wife about what she thinks and she thinks that I should continue trading, and continue my career path at my current company, most likely becoming a wind site manager within the next year. So my question to you guys is: Do I continue trading, or do I start my own company? I truly believe I could become a successful trader, I just dont know when. Is it worth it to continue putting my self through never ending mental and financial stress to myself/family to achieve this dream? Do I start my own company and restart a whole new taxing endeavor where I am still putting my family through the aforementioned but know it's more feasible and will take less time to achieve. Or do I continue my career path feeling empty inside that I never accomplished neither? Thank you in advance! Any harsh criticism is welcome, I need nothing but the truth at this point. Ideas on how to sell SentinelOne to Home and Small Business users Posted: 06 Nov 2021 02:32 PM PDT I have been able to automate offering SentinelOne to Home and Small business users. Now that I have the website and automation, any ideas on how I can build up the market or promote it to help the larger community? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Do I take on my family's franchise(s) or pursue my career? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 09:36 AM PDT No one here can really choose for me but this is more for me to write my thoughts out and seek guidance for those with franchises/small business expierence. Parents owns/runs two locations, with a third into he works. This will make two of them that are very busy and the other still profitable but not crazy. If I gave it a scale: it's a 6/10 while other two are 10/10 profitability. The next year or so I need to decide whether to stay at home and help them open a third while taking over the other two in 5-10 years when they retire. Or do I decide to graudate and pursue a engineering career I really love and leave all the responsibility to my sister... don't get me wrong I love this franchise very much but don't want to be working as an employee for rest of my life because so many things get repetitive. I wish I could just use it as a cash cow but hiring managers can decrease quality of business (or doesn't?). Even though I am very knowledgeable within the stores/whole franchise/logistics, I would be willing to get more educated to be better managing it all If I were to be asked a perfect world scenario, I'd say I take over the business and never have to work a day in my life while I enjoy my life. This seems to be a business that you need be present so it's on track. I'd make more money entering this franchise life than I ever would in this career of mine. Life goal is travel and enjoy the world and be financially free and joining my family will help me much sooner but the thought of staying in my boring hometown sounds like a prison. What I think I need from you is: Your thoughts on this, guidance on how to manage multiple locations/how to hire and find good managers, how to be a better boss/business owner, and any other advice you'd have for me.
