Are there any insurance company’s that will provide full coverage for a “Rebuilt” car?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 06:42 AM PST

I was recently in an accident that resulted in my car being branded as total loss. I have since fixed the vehicle and all damages and the vehicle passed a Maryland state inspection.

However, I was told that because of the accident my insurance company (Nationwide) can no longer fully insure my vehicle. My only option is liability insurance.

Are there any insurance companies that will fully insure my vehicle despite its current rebuilt title?

    Thanks.

I got rear ended then he gave the police false insurance, what do I do?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 11:12 AM PST

I was taking a trip to Denver and while I was there I got rear ended. The guy panicked and kept trying to give me expired insurance so I called the cops.

The cops did a formal exchange of information and I then tried to file a claim with his insurance. But they just told me that neither he nor his vehicle have a policy with them.

What could I do? I assume he broke the law by giving police incorrect insurance. It would probably cost more to sue than to fix the vehicle. But I am unsure of what to do. I could provide any other details if needed, thanks.

    My parked car was hit

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 04:47 AM PST

So my parked car was hit and I'm in the process of filing a claim with the other party's insurance, however they're saying that I need to file a claim with my own insurance as they've reached a "limits issue" and can't cover all the damage (a second car was hit too). My insurance says I can file a claim with them or sue the other party's insurance.

I'm new to all of this and honestly don't know what's best here. I can't afford to pay a deductible and have my insurance go up when it wasn't even any of my fault. Any advice helps.

Got into a car accident. 3 cars piled up in front of me, I braked ASAP, but couldn’t stop the vehicle and hit the pile up. Realized after the fact that I didn’t have insurance (miscommunication with me and my mother, I’m 20) and my car is completely totaled.. What do I do??

    NY Hit and Run

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 06:49 AM PST

Hi, my car was parked on the street when someone hit it trying to pull out of the parking spot behind me. Luckily, was able to obtain camera footage of the event and even found his car parked up the block, equally scratched up. I left him a note on his windshield and he reached out and we intended to resolve this without insurance, however he stopped responding, and it has been over 2 weeks now. I don't know if I should go through Geico because I do not want my insurance rates to go up, but I do want to fix this because my back bumper is dented. Can anyone tell me an idea of what might happen if I go through with filing a claim?

Slid in the snow and hit my car into a fence

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 05:22 AM PST

There was a winter storm over the weekend and I was driving in snowy conditions. I lost control of my car and slid into a fence of some property. There's significant damage to the front although I'm hoping it's mostly bodywork. Am I able to claim for an accident like this and how do I go about it?

Car insurance recommendations for low-mileage driving

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 02:27 PM PST

I recently acquired a new job that has drastically changed my commute. I'm going from a 25 minute drive to a 5ish minute bike ride from where I live. Ideally I'd only be using my car to drive to work in the colder months, plus food shopping and errands around town (plus the occasional long distance trip).

Does anyone have any decent recommendations for insurance that caters to low-mileage driving? The one I've been looking into is called Metromile, the quote they gave me was around $45 plus 6.8 cents per mile. Anything over 250 miles per day is free (and 150 per day in my state of New Jersey), which helps account for any long-distance trips I may take with my wife.

    truck accident

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 02:19 PM PST

My 18 wheeler got hit by an uninsured motorist. My Insurance agency is unresponsive and they want to go trough my uninsured motorist to get my truck fixed and then try to recover form the at fault party. Im not happy because its been 2 months and nothing has been done and truck insurance is super expensive so I dont want this to fall on me. Can/should I seek an attorney to handle this claim and file a civil suit against the uninsured at fault party? Any advice and attorney recommendation are appreciated.

Rear ended by Progressive customer - arbitration?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 02:11 PM PST

I was stopped at a red light and got rear ended by someone insured with Progressive. Went through my insurance (USAA) for the claim - months later, USAA is informing me they have to go through arbitration with Progressive to resolve the claim and to wait and see if I get my deductible back.

Is it common for claims to go to arbitration? The other driver is 100% at fault so I don't understand what the issue would be.

How long does a “pending” State Farm auto application take to go through?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:50 PM PST

I switched from progressive to State Farm early this morning. Around 1am. I paid the first month premium of about $290 and was emailed a "temporary" instance card.

I canceled my progressive insurance because the rates kept going up, and my progressive policy is set to expire at midnight on December 1 which is why I bought it early this morning.

I was just wondering does it take a few days for everything to go through? Or how long is it going to stay pending? Every time I log onto the State Farm app I don't see anything about any type of insurance or policy that I paid for but if I go to the document section of the app, i can see the temporary insurance card

Insurance company never contacted me back

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:39 PM PST

I got in a car accident that wasn't my fault with someone who has UAIG, a smaller insurance company it seems like and had my own insurance Esurnance file a claim on my behalf as well as calling UAIG myself and filing a claim. They said they never received anything from my insurance when I called which is not uncommon so I left it at that. It's been over two months now and I have not heard anything. I tried calling UAIG but get routed to voicemail, no one seems to pick up.

    What can I do?

EDIT: I just talked to my insurance and my insurance have been trying to contact them as well with no success. My adjuster even called the other drive with no success and even snail mailed them.

    rear ended by the FBI

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:38 PM PST

This morning I was rear ended by a government employee driving a government vehicle, it was pretty bad that they had to tow her vehicle, mine was still running albeit my entire rear tailgate was caved in, thus unsafe to drive.

The police came and to investigate, and they told me that since it was a government vehicle who hit me, they have their own investigators come out.

cutting the story short the FBI people came and asked questions and gave me a number of their paralegal to call.

I have already filed a claim with my insurance to take care of my vehicle, since I was told by the paralegal that I'd have to pay for everything out of pocket and then submit a claim, and I didn't want to have to pay thousands of dollars.

now my question is : was filing through my insurance the right call? or should I have gone with a lawyer, since every time I search "hit by government vehicle" a lot of attorneys show up in the results.

Husband dented SIL's BF's car and now he refuses to go through insurance, stating it'll lower the worth of his vehicle.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:25 PM PST

A few weeks ago, my husband was leaving and his tire got stuck in the mud. When he went to back out, he dented SIL BF's car. It driveway is pretty outdated and there's a lot of torn up areas from my BIL's trucks and doing stupid things. Now, this guy has a great job so he's able to afford expensive cars, so he owns 3 like a porshe and bmws. My husband ended up hitting the bmws door causing a dent which we said we'd obviously take care of thinking it wasn't going to kill us and if it did, we'd go through insurance. We were wrong.

He tells my husband that it's going to be 7500 to fix so my husband offered to go through insurance and I was told that he was met with whining because it would lower the worth by almost 30 grand when he sells it one day. Now that price seems a little steep and the 30k sounds like bull but I don't know about cars, much less the price to fix a dent on an expensive newer bmw. The problem is, we have a baby and are saving to get a house in the near future which we have to do soon for reasons.

Now we're pissed. Yes, it's my husband's fault but insurance exists for this reason. We can't be expected to pull that kind of money out of thin air when only one person is working. For someone who likes to flaunt his money, I feel like he can go pay for it if he doesn't want to go through the insurance company.

Am I wrong here? Will it lower the worth that much? Is there anything we can do?

    Total loss car - settlement

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:18 PM PST

My partner's car was hit when parked up, and their insurance is taking ages to come back to them already to even say what will happen next. Reviews of the company seem to be saying they can take months to sort claims out and don't seem the best.

They said it'll be a total loss, haven't even collected the car yet and it's been days.

Should my partner look for/buy a car before the settlement is paid out or just wait? Insurance said they can't claim a courtesy car because of it being a total loss - can they do it and claim it back? At the minute my partner has no car, but worried that if they buy a new car before the settlement is paid whether it could mess anything up?

Sorry - never dealt with this before!

    Thanks

    Am I completely at fault?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:14 PM PST

Long story short, the driver on my left didn't see me and merged into my lane but she was way in front then did a whole U Turn to the right (w/no signal indicator) and I reacted my swerving the opposite direction which is on the side walk where I wrecked my transmission and am now an owner of a totaled Malibu. The driver stepped out and apologized for not seeing me, and called her insurance and let them know she caused the accident, but my insurance contacted me saying I will be given a point on my license, and have a fat deductible. Is there a way I can fight this? A clause or idk argument I can make?

    Car Insurance Help Needed Please

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:10 PM PST

Trying to become independent from my parent's policy in State Farm and unsure if I should handle my own in the same company or elsewhere.

I'm 20 yr old in GA with no accidents, collisions, or tickets. I've only been driving since 18. My car (2002 Ford) was purchased with cash (second car in about two years as I bought cheapos almost as old as I am). I don't know which companies are considered most reliable, cheap, and easy to work with. Also, this may seem silly to ask, but will I need her to give explicit permission to remove me from the policy or will they allow me to handle it myself? Currently, the car is under her name because of the policy.

Also, it would help to know if you might have an idea of a reasonable price ballpark I could expect (just so I don't get jipped unexpectedly and way way overpay)

Advice is appreciated please. I read up on another post about what is entailed in car insurance, so I vaguely understand that part now

    Thank you

I was hit and possibly totaled yesterday. What are my next steps? [Michigan]

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 09:06 AM PST

Yesterday I was hit while driving my 2005 Toyota Camry. The police officer who responded said I wasn't at fault. The accident damaged both right side doors, including punching a hole through one, and I suspect the pillar between them is damaged as well. My car has a lot of miles on it and some prior body damage, so I think it nay be totaled.

What are my next steps? The officer said I should contact my own insurance and initiate a claim. Is that correct given that I wasn't at fault? Also, given that used car prices are currently pretty high what's the best way to appraise my car's worth?

    Double insurance question

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 12:37 PM PST

Quick question about having double health insurance coverage that I've been having a hard time getting a straight answer on. I get that you have a primary insurance who will pay first, and then the secondary takes over after that, if applicable. But how does it work with deductibles?

Say I have a $1200 deductible on my primary insurance and a $1500 deductible on my secondary. I go in for a visit at a specialist which isn't covered by either until my deductible is paid, and I have to pay the $300 tab out of pocket. Will that payment count toward both deductibles or just one? Will my primary be $900 and my secondary be $1200 remaining, or will the secondary still be $1500?

What can I do about claim being partially denied for necessary medical procedure?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 12:28 PM PST

I have not had this happen before and am terrified of the outcome going south if I either take no action, or take the wrong action. I have chronic idiopathic constipation, meaning I have. constipation for no apparent reason. No diet, exercise, lifestyle change does anything. 99% of prescription medications do nothing, one of the most powerful ones in the world (Trulance) only slightly helps constipation.

I went to my gastroenterologist months ago and she said they want to do a series of X-rays showing where food is throughout the course of a few days. Makes sense - they do make you swallow 2 different pills. One shows where the food is in one way on the x-rays, the other helps react with that pill to help the X-ray show where things are. Basically, you need both pills.

So I get a message via email today saying there is an approx. $500 bill after insurance. I thought it is impossible for this since I met my out of pocket limit back in April of this year... Called billing at the hospital and also insurance and turns out that pill is not covered... Insurance said for them to consider covering it they would need my gastroenterologist to send them (2) peer reviewed scholarly sourced papers showing evidence of medical necessity for that 1 pill to be used. This in my honest opinion sounds like a dead end trap by the insurance company to then open the door to saying "our doctors still do not feel it was necessary even after the 2 papers presented to us - claim stands as denied and is patient responsibility for $500."

What steps should I be prepared to take in the event something like this happens in the coming weeks? Any guidance or help regarding this matter appreciated, I legit am not sure what to do. Would taking them to small claims court be worth it (the insurance company)? Live in Wisconsin.

Auto - Garage demanding above what insurance will cover on a 100% covered claim

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 12:25 PM PST

I have a comprehensive claim that was approved by my insurance company, and they have said they will cover 100% cost of the repair minus deductible. The garage doing the repairs claims that the agreement reached with my insurance does not cover the entire "real" cost of the repairs, and is demanding I make up the difference. This is NOT for additional/supplemental work or anything that is outside the scope of the claim. An example being that the garage feels the insurance labor rates agreed upon were not fair. They have started/completed the work. Am I correct that I should not be responsible for this?

    Homeowners insurance and contractors

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 11:49 AM PST

I was wondering about my risk for hiring a contractor that doesn't have insurance. I realize doing appropriate diligence on a contractor and all possible subcontractors is pretty tough, so I'd rather just be protected myself. If a contractor injures themselves while working on my property (or burn my house down, or does crappy work that results in someone else being injured later on), does my homeowners policy cover that? I believe it generally does, but I saw some articles that talked about exclusions for uninsured contractors. If I get a large umbrella policy on top of my HO policy, is it safe to say that I should generally be protected in nearly all situations?

Service provider over-billed my insurance. Can I pay the service provider directly?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 10:05 AM PST

    State: Florida

    Insurance: Cigna

    Service Provider: Quest Diagnostics

Service Provided: Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy blood test

    Summary

After I complained of insomnia and fatigue, my doctor ordered a blood test for Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy. I got the test at Quest Diagnostics, who then billed my insurer $544. My insurer will not cover $241 since they determined the test was "not medically necessary".

I can order a Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy test from Quest Diagnostics for $49 through Direct Labs (scroll down to see the price). I have done this before. Had I known that Quest would over-bill my insurance by 11x the price, I would have simply ordered direct and sent the results to my doctor.

    I think I have a few options:

    1. Appeal the decision with Cigna and argue the test was medically necessary, since I had symptoms and was found to be Vitamin D deficient.
    2. Ask Cigna to not pay anything, and contact Quest to negotiate payment with them directly.
    3. Tell Cigna I'm just not going to pay the balance since I was over-charged.
    4. Contact my local representative?

I'd like to ask advice from this sub on what other options I may have, and any advice for how to proceed. Ideally, if I can negotiate directly with Quest, I think I can get them to lower the price. Has anyone successfully gone this route?

    Thank you.
