If you're on a promising call with a prospect but have another meeting coming up...

Do you end your current call to be on time for the next one, even though the conversation is going great?

    Or...

Do you stay on the call with the acknowledgment you'll be late for the next meeting and might ruin that potential deal?

    Having two jobs...

    Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:25 AM PDT

Has anyone who is, or has been, an SDR found it possible to work both a day job and a night job, the day job being full-time and the night job being part time? (One job is in the service industry--has nothing to do with sales!)

I really don't want to leave my current place of employment (night... 5/6pm-2am), but also will be beginning my new job as an SDR. SDR During the week, night job during the weekend? I'm going to ask about how the schedule works where I'll be working, but wanted to see if anyone here has any experience or advice about this. Thanks all!

Leveraging my offers from other companies to help move internally?

    Posted: 03 Oct 2021 08:39 AM PDT

Hey guys, currently have offers from other places (customer success related) that entail more so what I want to do at this point in my career life. I'm a current SDR and dislike the heavy Sales quota role very much, and do not see a future in that sort of Sales vertical for me (SDR > AE) at all. Ideally, I'd like to move internally to our CS team, but was told there "generally" were internal transfer rules like time spent in role etc. I see people move internally however after months time, so I'm assuming it's more of a "who you know" situation.

I was wondering if it was a good idea to speak with a manager and leverage my other offers? Kinda like "Hey, I have other offers in CS, but if possible, I'd rather stay here and move into CS because I like the product, the company, and am familiar with it all. If not possible however, I understand, but would have to consider my other options then".

Is this normally an ok tactic to use? Or is it usually seen as negative by the company?

Would love to hear what your goals/plans are as a new hire for the first week, first 30 days, and first 60-90 days are as the first sales ops role at a company?

Confused for career path in sales

    Posted: 03 Oct 2021 06:06 AM PDT

I need help. I've been in sales industry for about more than 2 years. Used to be one of top performers for direct selling but didn't perform in sales after being in admin position for 2 years. I've been terminated from previous company due to poor performance and i wanted to change career to another industry. But then, got a job in sales instead. It's already 2 weeks now but didn't close any sales yet.

Should i be worried? How can i improve this?

Career / Business Advice Wanted - Thank You All In Advance

    Posted: 03 Oct 2021 06:32 AM PDT

    Hello Reddit Family,

Hoping to gather some advice from you all about my sales career.

I am a sales guy (AE at a software company). Making six figures. I have been in sales for roughly 10 years? (3 of the recent ones in saas). Climbed my way up to this position in a respectable company.

I have been thinking for the longest time of using my sales skills to start a business. Ideally something that gives me flexibility around my schedule. (More control over my life).

Do any of you business owners here have any suggestions?

Being a financial rep has been suggested to me by a friend (his job).

    Any other suggestions and why?

P.S I would only need to bring in 40-50k to pay my bills the first two years but eventually, I want a business that can break well beyond that six figures number.

Totally failed at my 1st enterprise sales role (SaaS.) What should I put on my resume?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 11:32 PM PDT

Got into SaaS sales at 30, had a few years of success, impressed the right people and landed an Enterprise AE job last year. I'm selling to massive global companies and have a multi-million dollar ACV quota.

Long story short, I haven't been successful AT ALL. I only have a few years of AE experience and the jump from what I was doing before to this is huge. The only reason I still have a job (for now) is that my colleagues aren't doing much better. I'm not cut out for enterprise and want to go back to smaller deals.

Question for hiring managers or anyone who's been in my situation: how should a rep talk about their track record in their current job when its been a disaster? What does someone put on their resume when they have no "wins" in a role?

Should I quit my BDR role if I don’t feel like I’m a cultural fit?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 03:56 PM PDT

I've been a BDR at a small startup for 5-6 months. I'm currently the top performer here - by a long shot. My only problem is that this is a small company and I feel like I'm not a cultural fit. I'm more on the reserved, analytical side, whereas my coworkers are more so, I guess "goofy", loud, extroverted.

It feels suffocating because I feel like I can't connect with coworkers. I feel like I personally don't have much in common with them and their personalities are different from mine.

So what happens sometimes in group discussions is that my ideas clash with others, and I feel like there's resistance to my ideas due to the likability factor. As a result, I feel like I should have worked at a bigger, more established company.

However, I will be promoted to AE in 4 months. The problem is that I hate coming to work and putting on a fake persona to chat with people I wouldn't hang out with in real life. I feel it's a fit issue more than anything else.

    Any advice?

is it still called "cold calling" if the person left his phone number to the company but lacks information about the product and its price, and you are trying to sell the product on phone?

How many accounts should an enterprise salesperson have?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 05:03 PM PDT

I've heard enterprise-level sales people should have fewer accounts because the sales cycles are so time demanding and complex. I've also worked in enterprise sales roles that have about 250 accounts. Meanwhile, I've seen some enterprise roles that have about 15 accounts…

What should you expect in terms of number of accounts for an enterprise technology sales role?

What's better pursue industry, or moving into an outside role at my current company?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 08:44 PM PDT

So currently I work for Cardinal Health as ISR for their pharmaceutical distribution. I am concerned about the future of this industry. I have opportunities to move to an outside sales consultant role with retail pharmacy or in the hospital setting for devices. Externally I have an opportunity with SAP Concur, but it would be an SDR position. Do I just lean into tech or do I get my experience in outside sales? I almost got a role at Stryker for one of their associate positions. I'm very ADHD and I think having a different day everyday would be very good for me. I grind so whichever direction I lean will be fine, I just want to look towards the future.

What are some good tips for d2d appointment setters? (Solar)

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 05:40 PM PDT

Hi, working d2d appointments for solar. A lot of people ask for a card. What is your experience with that? Seems like with such a high value asset like solar on your roof a slow trusting relationship is better in the ling run. I got my own cards hoping that would pay off.

How i can find my first Sales Rep?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:49 PM PDT

Ok, currently i have a SaaS that it's making around $4k MRR. I'm the one currently closing the deals and programing the product. Do you have any recommendations how to find the Sales Rep #1? and what compensation to offer? I know better to not ask for 100% commission that seems unlikely theses days and in some cases unfair.
