Posted: 03 Oct 2021 06:25 AM PDT I am using the services of a large telecommunication provider. My account manager on their side is always late, forgets meetings, is zoomed out in conversations and I am fairly certain that he is under the influence during the meetings when he attends. I have been contacting their support and trying to get another POC but their CRM always routes me back to him. I don't have an alternative provider I can switch to, but I need his attitude addressed. Things done by him take weeks longer than they should. How have you handled/would you handle this situation? [link] [comments] |
Is learning coding a legitimate route to changing careers and doing something technology related? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:09 PM PDT I'm presently an elementary school teacher, but I'm also a former business owner (wedding planning and coordination), and frankly I'd like to work independently again and just make more money that's not as labor intensive as working weddings. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
How to tell a vendor I'm switching to a competitor? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 06:30 PM PDT I sell a product that a local company makes and sends white label for me. My account with them is worth about £60,000/year. I think I'm paying two of their employees' salaries. How do I write the break-up letter? I've never done this before. Do I give reasons for the switch? The managers know each other personally because it's quite a niche industry in the UK. Another option is I can ever-so-slowly switch to the competitor until my account with the old one diminishes into oblivion, but I feel like they'd have questions and/or worry about my livelihood. Edited to add: I'm switching because the new company uses a reclaimed and recyclable material that makes it viable to sell "non-custom items" without the customisation premium. Asking the old company to supply it on my behalf isn't an option. I'm sorry I can't disclose what I sell. This subreddit is full of savvy business people and the industry is quite small and competitive. [link] [comments] |
Feedback on my newsletter tracking global conflict Posted: 03 Oct 2021 12:34 PM PDT Hey everyone! I am starting a newsletter that sends out notifications tracking global conflicts, crime, and unrest. I could really use some feedback on my website and content. My site is http://armswatch.co/. You don't have to subscribe to view the content. The content is not supposed to focus on policy/political issues, but rather just update people on the facts of what is happening around the world. Before I move forward, I just want to make sure the content is good. What do y'all think of the website and idea? Any advice regarding this or just general business ideas is much appreciated. Thanks! How do I come up with a good bakery name? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 11:22 AM PDT I know it shouldn't be too long, it should be catchy and not boring. But honestly I'm struggling. The one I actually really liked is taken. It is simple and very me ( it's Crystal Bakery) I thought of things like Sweet Cakes, Crystal Cakery but they're all taken! Any suggestions on names or how I can come up with a good one? [link] [comments] |
What's the best degree for me in order to become an entrepreneur? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 06:41 AM PDT It's time for me to ask because people say business degree are useless, Idk if I should believe them or not. If it's useless then please enlighten me. Would a Data Strategy course be beneficial for you as a founder? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 09:37 AM PDT I'm a Data Scientist and have felt a gap between founders and their knowledge of working with data. Naturally, I looked up if there were any courses on the same to help founders but couldn't find any. Therefore, I plan to make one! If you're a founder and have any question relating to anything specific about your data, please let me know. If there's enough need for the course, I'll make sure to have you as an alpha tester (learner) based on your questions and useful suggestions. Hoping to help the community move forward! What are some methods/ideas for diversifying your income? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 02:45 AM PDT Hello, entrepreneur here in my late 20's. I currently run a small business that is sustaining me, but I've recently started delving into trading stocks (which I've had mild success at) and am looking to possibly get a work from home job to supplement my income. I'm thinking of starting a second business and eventually closing down my first one as I want to do something different now. With the second business, I hope to get to a point where I can actually hire people so I can grow my business more quickly. But I'd love some more ideas on how to diversify your income. I really want to build wealth and become more financially savvy. I'm looking to buy a home for myself eventually and maybe even consider real estate but that's totally out of my expertise. I have more experience selling physical goods. I am also single and living in California which provides its own challenges. Overall, just advice too would be helpful. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:04 PM PDT Hi all. Getting ready to launch my consulting/training/coaching business. Question for others in the same line of work: What do you charge clients if they want to record and presumably reuse a training you provide? Percentages helpful, so for hypothetical instance: I charge $100 for an hour training. How much should I add to the fee for allowing them to record it? TIA. [link] [comments] |
As an entrepreneur with tons of support, why do I continue to feel like I have 0 help? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 12:48 PM PDT I started my business concept a few months ago and even with an incredible mentor and a massive amount of support from friends and family, I still feel like I am doing this on my own. I understand as an entrepreneur that, YOU ARE doing this on your own however, I get so frustrated with friends or family who explain to me that they are willing to help in any way possible but when the occasion arises it seems like they bring you 2 steps back before getting one step forward. I feel like I have to spoon feed these people into the tasks that I could use help with even when i'm asking people as close as my mom for help she still doesn't seem to be able to grasp what I truly need. How rare is it to find someone who is willing to help you and actually TELL you with initiative, "hey i did some research on this and these are the items that I can complete and get done for you and this is what you would still need to do." It's almost triggering when my close friends or family offer there support or help but don't actually tell me what they are able to execute on. I need a million things right now, what can i trust YOU with to actually execute and help me out on. 99% of the time they don't know the answer to this question themselves and it's not worth the extra effort to try and find out what they can help me with and giving them a task rather than me just doing it myself. Anyone have any advice for this? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
i have two options to start my own business,i'm not sure i should go with Which one Posted: 03 Oct 2021 11:59 AM PDT *i might come as urgent or self centered but i assure you i don't mean it to come as is so I'm 23 yo network engineer,I'm very good in my job i have professional certifications in many vendors technologies, so the intro aside, I'm planning to open my own home network solution business, i need to outsource the caviling and instillation part because i have no experience in it, so here it comes the options: A)i go with a guy i work with(he will by ex co-worker in 3 weeks, I'm leaving for another company), he have 17 years expertise in network installation and cabling, and he have very light knowledge in network configuration just basic administration stuff, and he have experience in siting a CCTV network up B)i have a list of networks cabling guys and they have decent experience in cabling, and 0 network engineering knowladge so i did not negotiate with guy A yet, but I'm sure he will ask for 50% profit, if i gone with any of the guys in list B they will don't take a percentage of the profit they will be just contractors, there pay will be almost 10-20% of profit per project, but here is the thing i have no experience in CCTV I'm sure it is easy for me to implement it, i did implement much complex technologies on enterprise scale, but i don't want to start kerning on the job, it is much better and professional to know what are you doing on the spot, my idea is to approach guy A and say to him i will own the businesses and i will give you 50% of the profit i will learn from you and you will learn from me, but after period we will go in our separate way since we learned anything we need from each other you can start your own businesses, what you guys think? is there a better way to approach this? Local vs global market for SaaS? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 11:11 AM PDT Ok, hear me out... The answer is obviously global... I'll just try to make a case for local. The app is a no code solution like airtable, just with my own approach. I cannot possibly compete with monsters like airtable, so my app is less complex while doing the core things well. PROS: CONS: Problem is, am I wasting my app on a much smaller market? I don't want to fall victim to the "1% of 1% of a billion dollar market" entrepreneurial cliche. So, should I focus on making a lot of money in the local market, and trapping myself... Or, try to go against the big dogs while trying to differentiate myself enough and being cheaper since I have less features? A possible approach would be to make it global, but sell it locally first. This would result in having to make the app in two languages, since English is not well adopted. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Oct 2021 10:16 AM PDT What motivates you to wake up everyday at 430AM? To go the extra mile at work, to work overtime, to put yourself in positions where you may fail or be embarrassed? What motivates you to put your money on the line? To study extra. To seek out more than you have. To ask for advice, for criticism, for knowledge. What motivates you to work your absolute hardest everyday? Is it money, is it sex, is it security, is it family, is it religion? Is it spite? What drives you personally? [link] [comments] |

How do I find an Investor/Private Lender for €10k? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 09:28 AM PDT Hello there, as the title suggests I am looking to find somebody who is willing to invest. A google search (or several, to be precise) shows me shady websites or websites exclusive to the US. It's not like I care where the Investor is from, but I can't access/apply with the majority of these pages because I'm not a US citizen. I'm curious how you guys would go about finding an investor or a private lender to raise funds for a brick and mortar business. [link] [comments] |
What is the most lucrative thing I can do with these resources? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 03:39 PM PDT I have a room of 25 REALLY good cold callers. Posted: 03 Oct 2021 08:59 AM PDT I have an idea for a great product and have begun building it, as a software engineer myself, I thought I could build the whole thing. This is a very large project with many moving parts. It is a full solution/product in a fast growing market. I need another experienced engineer to help me get this product to market faster. I will be bringing on business and sales once we have an MVP and working product. I am working with a devops pro who can scale and automate most things. I can not go into much detail about the product but our goal is to provide a one-click solution. If you are interested please DM me. Currently the project will include: Golang, python, JavaScript and several large open source tools. We can discuss pay or equity. Discussion will only happen over the phone [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 08:36 AM PDT I've come up with a new design for computer keyboard feet and am in the process of prototyping the actual "attachment to keyboard" part of the design.
