I have been going to this plug for a while now. He constantly posts videos on his Snapstory of him hanging out with VERY young looking boys. He is a gay 35+ year old man.

At first I thought "ok, weird, but maybe they're 18?" And… maybe they are. But I doubt all of them are. They're all definitely in high school cuz he's traveling to their events, graduation, football games, etc.

He's also supplying them weed and alcohol, which he uploads to his story. He's taking them on weekend vacations to the beach, hanging out with them on the weekends, etc. Just last night he posted a video of all these kids shotgunning Truly in his apartment.

All these boys have the exact same style. The same haircut. The same skinny, baby-faced twink build. It's obvious what's going on.

He also asked my younger brothers best friend (my 16 y/o brother and his friends all buy weed from him) to come over and hang out.

It's creepy as fuck. I don't want to stand by on this. What do I do? How can I make sure this dude gets in trouble for this disgusting behavior?

US-PA My neighbor keeps playing with a flame thrower in the street to impress his friends. Need legal advice since I was not home to call police.

    https://imgur.com/a/LTNDh7w

This has happened twice now. I live here in PA with a neighbor who believes in fun at everyone's expense. He has been cited already for riding ATV's up and down the public streets and shooting shotguns into the air.

I work a lot on the weekends. I was not home last night, however my Ring camera caught him out in the street with a flame thrower. My teen was home alone and said he went out into the middle of the road and lit a can of oil on fire. He let that can burn for over 60 seconds. Then, he played with the flame thrower for over 2 minutes exactly where I park my car.

Are these weapons something people play with in the street? Am I over reacting? He had an out of control chemical fire burning 10 feet from my house. All individuals are clearly intoxicated in the video.

Should I go to the police with this evidence or just leave it alone?

I rent. This is a duplex. The other tenant was not home either. This man is in his mid 30's and owns his house next door. He doesn't seem to care what he destroys. The incident took place on 2 public roads with 2 different names both registered on Google Maps. No other neighbor seems to bother with him since the shotgun incident. Thanks.

My nephew was put in restraints yesterday

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 05:30 AM PDT

My nephew is 9 years old and has Autism. He goes to a special school for kids on the spectrum and normally loves going there but yesterday when I got home from work, I found out from my sister that he was put in some restraints that left three ringed bruises on both arms!! The teacher didn't tell her what happened outside of saying the the program my nephew is in will have a report filed. But here's the thing, as far as I know, it's illegal to put mechanical restraints like zip ties or handcuffs on a child in school in the state of Illinois.

The teacher also said he tried to chew off his restraints.. so I guess where I'm at right now is, what would be the best course of action?

Edit: Thank you all for your guys' advice. I've forwarded your advice to my sister and BIL so we'll try to get this problem taken care of. This whole situation just isn't right but hopefully we can get some justice.

    A weird accident situation

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 06:08 AM PDT

My wife got pulled over by an unmarked sheriff's deputy. He was in street clothes and came running up to her window claiming that she hit his car. 2 other deputies showed up for no reason and a city cop showed up (his jurisdiction). All of the LEOs said there wasn't any marks or damage on either vehicle. The city cop did a driver's exchange of information and then everyone left.

Today we received a bill in the mail from the sheriff's office for $40. The bill is for the sheriff's office repair facility to inspect the deputy's car. The inspection report says no damage found on the vehicle.

My questions are: 1) wtf?!? 2) do I really need to pay the sheriff's department to tell themselves that an accident didn't occur?

I'm tempted to tell them to file it through my insurance company so that they can tell the to pound sand.

    Edit: I'm in Florida.

[FL] My uncle passed on unexpectedly at home. I am the only next of kin.

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 07:36 AM PDT

My uncle (55/M), whom I was very close to, unfortunately passed away in St. John's county, FL. I (28/F) live in Russell County, AL, where the rest of our family is from.

The remainder of our family includes my mother, my uncle's sister, who passed in 2012, and my grandfather, my uncle's father, who passed in 2017. I am the executrix of my grandfather's estate.

My uncle had a sizable estate. I was able to obtain numerous documents from his condo. To my knowledge, he owned 3 cars (2 being paid on, found the title to the 3rd), stock in a company he once worked for, 3 life insurance policies (one through his job), several banking accounts, money in a 401k account that was my grandfather's, and a mortgage.

I have 5 death certificates without cause of death. However, to really get to anything, I need death certs with cause of death.

Is there any way I can obtain these considering I am the only next of kin? Is there any way I can determine if he has a will (his close friends say he did)? Deposit boxes?

I am overwhelmed to say the least. He and I were very close, but he was a private man and did not want me or his friends to worry.

Do I have any grounds to sue my employer?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 08:14 AM PDT

(I live in the USA, PA)

    Hello,

Recently, I started a new lease. Prior to starting this lease, I had informal talks with my employers about what I could and could not afford, going into considerable detail about my monthly bills.

At the time, they gave me a lot of assurance (verbally) that I would be making so much more money very soon, or at the very least I'd be working full time with medical benefits.

Then when I found a lease I had them write the landlord a letter confirming my employment with them with a stated, estimate about how much money I would be making each month. A number was written in the email, let's call it X.

Fast forward two months and the lease has been signed. But when I ask to talk to them about increasing my hours, they pull me into the office and say that, in fact, they will not be paying me X. I will be paid X/2, or 50% of that number.

Additionally, I will not be working full time after all and will not be given medical benefits (this was only promised informally)The only offer they gave me was a few additional hours at a smaller rate each week working as a customer service service / front desk worker.

They have also asked me numerous times to do my software job while I am at my desk working customer service. --- while only being paid for customer service during those hours, of course.

What the hell should I do? The only hard evidence I have is the email and these people have a lot of lawyers. I have barely a penny to my name and can barely pay my rent now. I am very scared and upset (and looking for a new job, of course).

Is my Dad able to get full custody of me?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 04:40 AM PDT

So a little backstory, I am a 15 year old male with a father who is a pretty big jerk to me. He frequently calls me names, belittle my accomplishments, and tries to use different sorts of manipulation tactics to get me to come over and do exactly what he wants, even things like calling the police on me. Last night, since I did not want to go over there, I stayed at my moms house. He then called the police on me and said that he was going to attempt to get custody of me full time. Can he actually get this, or would it be difficult with my current age and all the things I have against him?(In Maryland btw I'd that helps at all) Thanks!

Texas: Canceling a lawsuit because defendant is offering to pay

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 07:00 AM PDT

I sued someone in small claims court (Texas) for about $500 (includes court fees). The citation was served and the defendant never responded. Recently, the court set a "Prove-up hearing" date and mailed notice to all parties. I imagine this triggered some fear in the defendant, who emailed me 2 days later saying they'd like to pay the requested amount and asked how much and how to pay it.

I'm more than happy to accept their payment directly, outside of court, to resolve the matter. My initial thought is to send them a paypal request for the amount of $500, with a detailed invoice and notice of no refunds or charge backs in the notes field of that request. Also thought to add a line saying I will wait until the funds clear and have sat in my account cleared for 7 days before I start the process of canceling the lawsuit, just to avoid any fraud-y stuff.

Assuming this is a good way to go about it, what is the process I would use to "cancel" the lawsuit? I'm not a lawyer, I simply took it upon myself to handle my own case in court to save on legal fees. So I'm sure my terminology is incorrect.

Let me know if I'm going about this the right way. Thank you.

CVS accused my mom, an employee, of stealing $4000+ of snacks over 8 years. She paid for everything. What can we do?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 12:41 PM PDT

My mom is currently on suspension from CVS. The "evidence" they provided was a short security clip of her setting a drink and chips on the counter behind her and taking a sip of the drink before paying for it. Today she got a letter from a lawyer saying she owed over $4000 because they assumed she had been doing this for years. She has plans to speak with her union rep, who was on vacation this past week.

What is the best course of action from here? What laws could they potentially be breaking?

Can I sue this hospital/get a doctor investigated

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 12:59 PM PDT

I (22) have bipolar disorder. I had a conflict with my insurance and was unable to get my medication refilled. As a result I went into mania and got hospitalized. I went to this mental hospital to get care but the psychiatrist I was assigned gave me a different medication and discharged me a week later before I even stabilized. Then I ended getting adverse affects and then went back where he refused to put me back on my original medication and told me "good luck if you come back I'm putting you on conservatorship" and discharged me another week later. Then new medication gave me again, adverse affects. So I went back. That time I petitioned for a new doctor and the hospital refused. So after fighting with him I was placed back on lithium and stabilized. However, he petitioned a fucking conservatorship. I was going to contest it but when he found out he "talked" to me and said that if I just went along with it I would go home and it would only mean I was legally required to continue taking my medication (which I never had a problem with) so I stupidly agreed. They fucking sent me to a locked facility. When I got there I met with the attending psychiatrist at the new facility and he said I did not belong on conservatorship. The deal with those, is that you have to be on it for at least three months before you can contest it again. So I had to stay three months at this facility with people who had full blown schizophrenia, were pissing themselves and spitting on the floors. The conservatorship was terminated after exactly three months. I was then sent home and was given a four months supply of my medication so I had time to find a psychiatrist. This entire experience was stressful, financially difficult and really impacted my life. I had to take a LOA for my job (where the psychiatrist at the original mental hospital did not sign off on so I had to beg another psychiatrist there to sign it) he then discounted my EDD payments when I was not working by submitted to their office that he was not treating me when he was, and I had to withdraw from college. This fucked up my life and I don't want this doctor to do this to someone else. I already contacted patient advocacy but I want to know if there I more I can do?

Landlord kicked us out for a week for construction, are we entitled to rent reduction?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 10:15 PM PDT

I live in a one bedroom apartment in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our property management company, UV Residential, renovated every room. To prepare we had to move all our things into the bedroom. They kicked us out every day 8-5 for a week. (we were literally not allowed t enter our home during those times. In the evening the whole front room was a mess with construction, the bedroom was completely full of every single thing we owned. And the shower was also unusable with construction. There was no place to lay down a bed, we ended up staying at my parents house. They didn't provide us any place to stay and are not giving us a reduction in rent. Is this legal? If not what should be my next step.

Backstory: My ex fiancé cheated. We bought a house and moved in together. House is under my name only. His name is on water bill but I pay it.

He says he won't leave. What legal grounds do I have? If I call to get water bill changed to my name and I give him a 30 day notice can it be enforced he leave??

What type of lawyer do I need to speak to?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 01:48 PM PDT

    Hi, all -

Never done something like this before and don't know the best place to start; thought you all might be able to point me in the correct direction.

I'm in a long-term (10+ yrs) homosexual partnership, but we are not legally married nor considered common law married (state doesn't allow it). However, we do own a house together.

It has become evident that this relationship needs to end. Is there a specific type of lawyer I should see to sever my ownership of the house? At this time, I'm not looking for anything other than signing over the house so I can leave as cleanly as possible.

    Thanks.

Car dealership refusing to pay off car loan until I produce expired registration for car.

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 11:01 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

On August 20th I traded in 2 cars (one lease/one financed) and purchased a car from a dealership in Colorado. I had expired registration on the leased vehicle and an expired temp tag on the financed vehicle (long story for why they were both expired).

The dealership first told me that I need to go into the Denver DMV and say "title only, no registration" for the financed (temp tags) vehicle. I spoke with the DMV on the phone to which I was told that the title is in the hands of the lien holder and that CO is not a state in which the DMV would possess the title. I then spoke to the GM of the dealership who explained that there was a mistake and I just need to register the vehicle so that they could pay off the lien holder. I did so even while the DMV practically laughed me out of the office in saying that the lien holder doesn't care about the registration, and that they could pay off the lien without having a current one. Paid the $880 and gave the dealership the registration for the financed vehicle.

A few days later I get a call saying I need to do the same thing for the leased vehicle. I explain that the Jeep was registered in my name and that it was just expired (plated, but expired). GM says this is news to him (even though they removed the plates when I purchased the new vehicle), and that I just need to produce the expired registration. Again, explaining that they need this in other to pay off the lien holder. I get the lien holder on 3 way call with the GM to have them explain to him that they don't care about the registration and just want their money. GM becomes very flustered in being caught in their lies and now says the registration is for their "processes," and has nothing to do with the lien holder.

The situation I'm in now: I haven't been able to make it to the DMV because it would require leaving work mid-day to do so to get the expired registration in person since Denver DMV won't email the expired registration to me. The dealership has neglected to pay off the lien on the leased vehicle and now my payments are in default and just recently got reported to the credit bureau. The GM keeps saying that they need the registration before paying off the lien because it is illegal and is called "skipping title." I am going to get to the DMV this week to produce the expired registration and get them to pay off the lien, but I'm sure I will get stiffed with any late fees/additional payments since the pay-off amount has most definitely changed since purchasing the new car.

The dealership neglected to explain this would need to be done on the day of the purchase of course and bombarded me with phone calls and emails weeks after driving home the new vehicle. I asked to return the vehicle and take home my two trade ins and was told it wasn't an option. So basically they are putting me in a vice by neglecting to pay off the lien in order for me to produce the expired registration.

What actions should I be taking other than getting to the DMV asap to get the expired registration? I should also mention that I would have done so weeks ago had they mentioned it, but they were too busy demanding I register the first car and just recently shifted focus to the leased vehicle. I've spoken to a few friends in the car industry and they also don't understand why the registration is so important to them. Any advice or further explanation would be greatly appreciated as I am dealing with an unprecedented amount of incompetence from this dealership.

My truck was wrongfully towed on my first night in a new apartment, who do I go after?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 10:54 AM PDT

My truck was towed the night I moved into a new apartment without any notice that towing was enforced, leasing agent didn't hand me a parking permit or inform me that one was required. This violates Texas Property Code 92.0131, so they are liable for the money I had to pay to release my truck (My truck was towed on a Friday night and nobody was in all weekend, so I couldn't have somebody release it for me.) The twist of the knife in this situation is that the property management changed as I was moving in. I'm not sure when the transaction officially took place, but the old company was still here running things the night my truck was towed, so that's who I've been working with to get this resolved (these people have been absolutely no help and a pain in the ass to communicate with). They keep trying to place blame on the towing company because they claimed to have told them to hold off on towing. One lawyer I spoke to said that isn't a valid legal defense and doesn't matter. The towing company was just doing their job as far as I'm concerned. I'm just wondering if maybe I should be going after the new management company or if I'm right in pursuing the old management? It makes sense to me that because the old management company was still in charge at the time my truck was towed, they are responsible, and that this situation is independent of the community so the new management would not take on that responsibility.

Flooded apt in NYC- can I get sued for kicking sublettor out if he wants to stay?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 05:23 AM PDT

    I need advice.

I live in New York City and have a duplex apartment. The top of the duplex is on the first floor of the building, and the bottom of the duplex is in the basement. I have lived in the same apartment for 10 years along with my roommate. We divided the apartment into two sections, so I have always lived in the top floor, and my roommate has always lived in the basement. There is no shared space, each level has a bathroom and it's own entrance to the hallway. We are both on the lease.

A few months ago I had to move out last minute, so as to not displace my roommate at the last minute I was able to sublet the top half to someone that I met on a rental website.

Long story short, last week with hurricane Ida the basement flooded (about 10 inches of water) and my roommate lost a ton of stuff. I feel awful because she lives paycheck to paycheck and lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff. However, the rental company is fixing the downstairs by replacing the drywall and doing anything necessary to fix the basement portion of the apartment. It should be livable again in a week.

Yesterday my roommate told me that she absolutely refuses to come back and has been traumatized by the situation, regardless of how well they fix up her portion of the apartment she will not come back and has already spoken to a lawyer. The building has offered to let us leave our lease early if we want (our lease ends next July.)

My issue is that I have a sublettor living in the upstairs part who is paying half of the rent. I signed a contract with him at the apartment would be his until the end of the lease in July. Obviously if the downstairs roommate moves out then only half of the rent will be coming in each month. The guy that is subletting from me is a lawyer and I'm terrified he'll sue me if I tell him he has to move out.

    What do I do???

-force my roommate to stay because we have a lease so that I don't have to kick the sublettor out?

-kick the sublettor out at the risk of getting sued?

-what happens legally if one person on a lease (me) wants to stay and the other wants to leave?

-I could attempt to rent the bottom portion again, but no one will pay what she's paying for it ESPECIALLY after the flooding last week.

Please help!!! I've been so so beyond stressed and devastated by this whole situation.

    Thank you.

I’ve got a friend who’s drunk brother won’t leave her apartment

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 12:03 PM PDT

A friend of mine has a dead beat drunk brother who simply just crashing from couch to couch. And now he's currently staying with her and her mom in their apartment but after seeing him come back drunk and altercations ensuing. They resorted to barricading the door until he violently shoved his way back in. I've told her to call the police to get him out. But her mom keeps saying they need an eviction notice since his been there over 4 weeks. I would like to think they have the legal right to kick him out without one since he's not even a tenant, but I'm still not sure. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. And thank you

Assaulted when calling out a drunk driver

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 10:16 AM PDT

Edit: This happened in Oregon - US

This happened last night and I'm not sure if I should press charges/notify the police, so any advice (legal or ethical) is greatly appreciated.

I was having drinks with my partner and a friend of ours on a patio in front of a small bottle shop, behind us was a very loud and noticeably buzzed man having a drinks with a friend. He wasn't really a nuisance until he was getting up to leave. He shouted something and then looked at us for attention - he was totally looking for confrontation. Long story short we exchanged a few shouts and he got in his car (illegally parked right next to his table) and I called his friend out on letting him drive drunk. He jumped out of his car, more yelling at each other occurred. I stayed seated, didn't threaten or raise a hand and it ended with him grabbing me by the throat and throwing me to the ground from the picnic table I was sitting at.

The bar we were at happily gave me his full name, his friend gave me his phone number, I got a photo of his license plate, and a woman sitting near by sent me a video of the second half of the altercation.

I know you can't change people, but god damn do I want him to learn a lesson.

After doing some Googling I have found that he is pretty wealthy and that scares me because I'm sure he could lawyer up and find some way to counter me. I don't care about any type of repayment, I just want an apology and for him to become a bit more self away of how much of an asshole he is.

Does this sound like something I need to let go of or do I file a police report?

    Thanks for reading!

    Can I sue?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 01:56 PM PDT

I recently bought a home catty corner to the backside of a grocery store. Their dumpsters are constantly over flowing and they leave trash sitting next to the dumpsters. It ends up in my yard every single day. I wish i could include a picture in this subreddit to show you examples. Every day it looks like someone shredded an entire trash back in my front yard. I've called the grocery and asked them to keep the back of the store clean multiple times but it keeps happening. It's gotten to the point where I'm sick of having to call them once a week and want something done about it. Is this lawsuit worthy???

Legallity of Selling USDT outside the US

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 01:48 PM PDT

I am a current international student pursuing my masters degree in the state of Conneticut with no SSN. I have been working on an online crypto related business; to give more context, I would transfer funds (around 100k USD) from my home country bank account to my American bank account. I would then use the transferred money to buy USDT using a US based company (which I registered using my American address). I would then transfer the USDT money I purchased using my US bank account to my home country online wallet (using an online platform called binance.com, where I registered with my home-country ID, that has nothing todo with the US) I would then sell the transferred USDT using P2P to customers from my home country. Then the funds would go to my home country bank account and then the same cycle continues. I have checked my home-countries crypto regulations, and I noted that what I am doing is completely legal. My questions are:

1- Are there are any US legal implications regarding my online business given that I am an international student with no SSN (international students are not obligated to pay taxes).

2- Given the entire operational cycle of my business, am I obligated to pay taxes in the US.

Initial Inspection Before Tenant Moves Out Against California Law

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 11:28 AM PDT

About a month ago, my spouse and I decided to move out of our apartment by the end of our lease in October. Our landlady informed us that there would be an initial inspection a month before our move out date. That seemed unusual to us as we've lived in other apartments before and this initial inspection policy has never been in place. It is usually that the tenant requests an inspection. We looked up the California Law (https://www.courts.ca.gov/partners/documents/InitialInspection.pdf) regarding this and it says that it is illegal for an inspection to take place more than 2 weeks before the move out date.

When we confronted our landlady with this information, she informed us that it is corporate policy that an inspection take place a month prior to leaving, which they have been enforcing for years now. While we did reluctantly agree to their scheduled inspection and prepared as well as we could for it, for one reason or another the landlady rescheduled last minute to the next day, that being our only day off. Frustrated with the inconvenience, we called it off and doubled down on the fact that what their policy is illegal. They offered to reschedule to three and a half weeks before move out, but we declined.

With the semantics changed, they then gave us a 48 hour notice to enter our apartment, that being well within their rights. It feels like we are being pushed around illegally. What legal recourse do we have if any? Any help would be appreciated.

tl;dr apartment's corporation forcing an inspection illegally on tenants.
