How can you manage people from different countries? Posted: 12 Sep 2021 01:31 AM PDT I have a question for all of the online business owners out there. How do you manage people from different countries? Thinking about it is quite overwhelming for me. For example, How do you conduct a meeting with people that have different time zones? Some time zones have big gaps right? What if your employee has a question but you're not available at that time? Addition to that, Different dates. Time zones are super confusing sometimes. I'm not used to it yet. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Sep 2021 09:58 AM PDT People think owning a business is all sunshine and roses. But it's stressful. In general, I notice that the more I try to be successful, the more nonsense and pushback I have to deal with. For every major win, there's 100 L's/struggles/"near-death" experiences. But people notice only the wins. They think "Must be nice." What misconceptions do you think non-business owners have about business owners? [link] [comments] |
My business partner is an anti-vaxxer. Posted: 12 Sep 2021 02:36 AM PDT Staff and I are pro-vax. I'm struggling to get past such a selfish decision and deal with the practicalities. He is religious, which hasn't interfered with business before but that's where his stance is coming from. Any advice on managing this? [link] [comments] |
Thinking of starting a clothing business Posted: 11 Sep 2021 11:56 PM PDT I know I know…. But hear me out. My background is in graphic design but I've always wanted to start a clothing company. Obviously not just clothing but accessories and miscellaneous items as well. I've got the aesthetics down, that's the easy part. But I don't know where to start. I've saved some money that could get me started but not much. I'm setting my expectations low because I'm not starting with a bunch of money. I would also consider myself pretty good with money/bookkeeping too. Also, I've taken some business classes and researched 'how to start a small business'. I have some family members that do "okay" being resellers but nothing that crazy and business-like. Any small business owners have any advice or "what I wish I knews"? Or any links that you recommend? I'm willing to put in the work. P.S. How do I find wholesalers that aren't sketchy and give you the most freedom? Lol [link] [comments] |
Is it okay to start a business alone? Posted: 11 Sep 2021 02:45 PM PDT Okay so i have been working on my business for the past 2 months i guess, i found an investor to help me with the funds but i keep looking for a good marketers or a good copywriter without a luck! All the people i interviewed i found myself better than them! I thought maybe i should do it myself but in the same time it's only me i don't want to burn out. I already have another business needs ny attention too So my question would be could you do it without partners or marketers and copywriters? Like you and you alone? [link] [comments] |

Tradeshows finally have a pulse! Posted: 11 Sep 2021 03:00 PM PDT I design and fabricate tradeshow exhibits. Anyone else have covid destroy their industry overnight? What did you do to deal with it and how did you recover? What a wild ride the last two years has been. We went from 2019 having the best year ever and forecasting 2020 for 20% more growth to the world setting itself on fire. March of 2020 we were setting up booths and over the intercom they said to start dismantling as the show was canceled. We went over a year without revenue. We had to make extreme budget cuts to stay alive. I had to take on sales jobs to keep my family afloat. Now that shows are making their way back even with the handful of cancellations we are seeing a surge in exhibitors investing in their booth and branding. Not everyone has the budget that is needed to meet their show goals but surprisingly enough majority of companies have a marketing budget because of the savings they have had from not spending on tradeshows for the last year and a half. I am excited to announce we are at the point of hiring all our team members back. They are all leaving their current roles or jumping off Un employment to join our amazing team again. We are praying this whole mess corrects itself so we can all get back to the industries we love. Stay strong, stay focused and never give up! [link] [comments] |
Advice on pivoting an accounting firm Posted: 12 Sep 2021 12:34 AM PDT Hey all — love the awesomeness of this community! So I run a successful traditional accounting firm am have no real complaints on m chosen profession, however I do worry of the future and how all these new apps like Xero and MYOB have changed the face of accounting with a lot of clients doing the work on their own — wouldn't take much for them to do even more and put me out of business! The question is what can we do as accountants to pivot into different industries or types of service — I've always thought of creating a finance YouTube channel or maybe an online course or something that is more scalable? Any ideas or are there any people you know who have been in a similar situation and succeeded? Would love to hear all your thoughts! Peace and love! [link] [comments] |

Purchase license for "Music Videos"? Posted: 11 Sep 2021 10:53 PM PDT I have a medical office with a reception area. I would like to install a TV that plays music videos. I know I can purchase a business license for audio only, such as through Pandora, Apple Music, etc, and I can also purchase a video license to show movies, such as Disney films. But I cannot find anywhere that I can purchase a license specifically for 'music videos'. Does anyone know of any music streaming services that also have music videos, such as Apple Music, that offer such a license? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Sep 2021 05:57 AM PDT My buddy and I are super new to the whole business thing, and we're trying to get our legal ducks in a row. We make clothing and do custom embroidery work, and all of the work is done by my friend in California. I handle pretty much all of the legal, accounting, and otherwise administrative tasks from Pennsylvania, and I would like to register the company in PA because of what I believe are favorable corporate/sales tax rates. Anyone with any insight whatsoever - your help is appreciated 😁 [link] [comments] |
How to buy Paid Family and Medical Leave insurance? Posted: 11 Sep 2021 10:39 PM PDT I started my small business in NYC, and at least in the state Paid Family and Medical Leave is administered as an insurance program administered by the state. I was able to purchase a PFML plan at a really affordable rate through New York State Insurance Fund. I moved myself (and my business) to a new state that doesn't have a PFML insurance plan offered by the state. My question -- is it possible to buy a PFML insurance policy if my business is located out of state? I did some research into other states' policies, and their FAQs left me uncertain. I'd call... but getting a straight answer from any government entity is usually like pulling teeth. Looking at the NYS FAQ: Right at the beginning:
But then their examples about eligibility are focused on when employers are exempted from a mandate to purchase PFML insurance:
https://edd.ca.gov/Disability/FAQ_PFL_Eligibility.htm From their FAQ:
Okay, so it doesn't matter where the employee lives.
Okay, so I have to contribute to the State Disability Insurance program... can I do that voluntarily? The eligibility requirements aren't clear on this. And those are just two examples. Obviously the *intent* of these programs is to provide insurance programs are employers/employees in their state, but I'd like to voluntarily take advantage of one of these programs. Since we don't have a national program in the meantime, are there any ways that someone whose state doesn't sponsor a plan can take advantage of one? [link] [comments] |
Need help with POS system for a nail salon business Posted: 11 Sep 2021 07:52 PM PDT I'm planning on opening a new nail salon and looking for a POS system. Posted: 11 Sep 2021 06:33 PM PDT Hey all, I'm pretty active here and do web design and development and try to answer website related questions. I have been going through the content of my site the last few days so I'd love some feedback specifically on the text and words and if I should maybe word something differently or just things you see as a positive or a negative. I've mostly redone the content on the home page but any feedback on the whole site would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (X-post from entrepreneur). [link] [comments] |
What are some tips to get Contractors for Remodeling/Deck/Painting etc to take your Job? Posted: 11 Sep 2021 01:36 PM PDT Recently bought a house, and contractors all are very busy or do not want to commit to such big jobs we have been offering. We agree to pay any rate, are flexible with work times, people just seem so busy and bogged down with abundant work. Besides offering over quoted price, which seems crazy,, what can we do make the jobs more appealing to contractors ? [link] [comments] |
Is there a program/app that works with clover that allows for a membership that immediate perks? Posted: 11 Sep 2021 01:30 PM PDT I have seen a couple apps that seem to just do a monthly charge and track if the person is a member and I have seen a couple different apps that will give reward points based on money spent but I am looking for something a bit different. I recently opened a simulation racing center and the goal would be to have a membership for a monthly cost that allows a customer access to a number of free races and guest passes each month as well as a discount on any extra races. I would need a program or clover app that would handle the recurring billing as well as the tracking of the membership included vouchers. Does this exist? [link] [comments] |
One year in and I need to refine my website. Posted: 11 Sep 2021 01:06 PM PDT It's been a year since I left my old line work and became a handyman. I will never make a million bucks at it, nor will I make a great living off of it, but it had gotten me through COVID and unemployment. So from that perspective, I was successful. And via a lot of hard work, I've done pretty okay and was able to pay off my monthly bills and debts. I have started to think about how I might take my business to the next level, but that is another discussion. For now, I want/need to update my website. My existing site is pretty good. I'd give it a "B+" grade. It's clean, simple, and professional-looking. The design is good; there are lots of work sample pictures, a list of my services, some reviews, pricing and a contact form. On the downside, I am having some issues with the dynamic scaling (i.e. viewing on different devices) and being able to update the home page content (text and image(s)) when I want to. I've looked at a few website builders as an alternative to having a custom-designed and built site, but they are all clunky and hard to use. Moreover, the templates are not that great, even if you can customize them. Lastly, they are not inexpensive. I can't afford a thousand bucks for a designer and programmer or completely redesign my site each time I want to make changes. In addition, I would like to be able to update myself. I wonder how other small business owners have handled their website, both the building and the updating. [link] [comments] |
Question: Looking to finance an online business Posted: 11 Sep 2021 04:17 PM PDT Hello everyone, I'm looking for funding to finance an online business. Last September I started an affiliate site after doing SEO for a while, I took a vacation back to my homeland (Pakistan) and worked on it for 5 months about 10 hours a week while I was unemployed due to COVID. I came back to the US and got a job again and sold the website because I needed funds to relocate etc. My expenses were roughly $3000, and I sold the whole thing for $23000, while it made me ~$3000 revenue (SEO takes time) - so a total of $26,000 earned. However, the business was generating about $1000 a month passively when I sold it and is now making much more, probably close to $2000 a month. The reason why I was able to successfully execute my strategy is because I have don a ton of research and experiments over the years, and I understand how Google rewards certain websites over others. So all of my traffic is organic via Search Engines. I can do this all over again, however, I am now working full-time and would outsource a lot of the work. I am actually looking to start two of these websites and planning on taking them to $5000 a month (conservative estimate) combined in 1.5 years. My credit score is a little over 700 and my income is a little under $100K a year. I have about $4000 in credit card debt. No student loans or anything else. What would be the best way to secure a loan for $20,000 USD under these circumstances? Would the history of my business be taken into account? Thank you, T [link] [comments] |
A Landscaping Company with Big Goals Posted: 11 Sep 2021 07:59 AM PDT I run a SP landscape company. It's not ground breaking, no goal to be the biggest or best. No competitive edge. What my company offers is a tailored experience that creates more than just beautiful and functional outdoor living spaces. I make relationships with clients that last. Investment and fund raising are nearly impossible for a company that's not making digital services or working for things that seem unattainable. I'm one man doing the jobs that typically require a crew of 3 - 5 people. Plus running the back end. I need equipment, liquid value, and assets to leverage. I am in year 2 of the company and it's unbelievably challenging to even keep going but it's more profitable than working for someone else and my clients love me. The market for landscaping in my area is huge. It's one of the biggest service markets here. I would like to incorporate solar energy into my services offered. If anyone read the whole thing say hi.
