Is starting your own business really better for an entrepreneur? Posted: 03 Sep 2021 05:05 PM PDT Although starting your own business can have many advantages for an entrepreneur especially being able to pursue your own ideas and taking calculated risks. Starting a business can also become stressful and overbearing at times. Would an entrepreneur be better off being an intrapreneur in someone else's company. This would arguably give them the freedom to work on ideas and projects without the other overbearing responsibilities of being an owner. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Small company being bought out Posted: 03 Sep 2021 02:31 PM PDT So I work for a small mom and pop medical company that is being bought out by a much larger national company. Earlier this week we pretty much had an involuntary orientation with the surprise news. Large company said they would keep current salaries, but it looks like 401K is going to take a hit due to matching rates being lower. Right now I'm still in shock and I'm trying to think of the right questions to ask or how to go about asking for a raise to offset immediate financial hit for the future. I think they want to keep me at least... Any other advice is welcome so I can ask or look for the right things [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Sep 2021 08:32 AM PDT Lyra Health is a healthcare company that partners with other businesses, say company X. Employees of company X, using the Lyra Health partnership, can access say 40 therapy sessions free per year. How does this partnership work? It seems almost like Lyra Health is a therapy broker? They probably take some commission for connecting patient/provider. What does company X gain? Why are they doing this? Employees of company X already have health insurance through the company, why can't they just find their own therapy providers? [link] [comments] |
Which master's degree to aim for? Posted: 03 Sep 2021 05:20 AM PDT I have bachelor's from industrial management/engineering. I am interested in improving business based on data as well as in overall picture of business/economics/management. Would really appreciate some more insights to the topic, as unsure if to aim for business/economics/management master and study data science on the side or vice versa? For example, Aalto University offering programme in Information and Service management (https://into.aalto.fi/display/enism/Programme+studies+2020-2022), which seems to offer courses I'm interested in. I'm applying to university in Germany/Austria and looking for similar programs. Are they mainly found under similar name, Information Systems, or something else such as Business and then picking analytic courses as minor/electives? I've been looking around but haven't yet managed to find very interesting one and to my understanding degrees in data science require more background from computer science/mathematics etc. Interested in role of BA in operations/process improvement and perhaps consulting. Would REALLY appreciate some insights to this topic. [link] [comments] |
Name change when switching from LLC to S Corp in California Posted: 03 Sep 2021 10:37 AM PDT My DBA did not change, but do I need to submit a new DBA because the legal name is now different? [link] [comments] |
Hired an employee in at a high salary Posted: 03 Sep 2021 10:30 AM PDT They negotiated their starting salary higher, kudos to them. But we are at a point now where they have been here for a little over a year and will probably want a raise soon. They are currently at the highest end of our salaries for all sales employees, and have been given very generous bonuses for sales goals the past 12 months. They are not in a management position. How would you approach this if they come and ask for a raise? [link] [comments] |
Name of person assigned to manage a recently acquired company? Posted: 03 Sep 2021 06:37 AM PDT For a writing project. If a smaller business was bought by a larger company, and the larger company wanted to assign someone to manage and change things there during the transition. The whole "so-and-so has been sent from corporate to oversee things, and I hear they are making big changes" trope. [link] [comments] |
