What’s the biggest base pay you’ve seen out there? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:15 AM PDT I'm in enterprise tech and I'm at $145,000 base (about $92k commission), so OTE is around $240k. Just curious how that compares to other companies and if that's competitive or not. Thanks for any feedback! [link] [comments] |
How do you handle customers that won’t play ball with your sales process? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 03:53 AM PDT Background: Our sales process requires that we provide pricing only after we've demo'd/met the customer. This is for good reason - it increases our win rate because we get to establish needs, authority, rapport, etc. in that meeting. Things fall apart when we get speculative enquiries: The customer is just researching, so they need a quick price to check viability. They won't agree to a meeting at this early stage. So we provide pricing, hoping to get the meeting later. (The alternative is a stand-off' with the customer about booking a meeting). We rarely win these customers that don't follow our process. How do you deal with this in your roles? Edit: Just clarifying that in my case, we sell a customisable solution, B2B. There is no such thing as 'the price' because it depends on what the customer actually needs. Our deals can genuinely range from $1,500 to $100,000. If we sent them our price list they wouldn't reasonably be able to determine the price without knowing what questions to ask themselves. [link] [comments] |

Most effective strategies/plan of attack when prospecting to Key Accounts as a SDR Posted: 03 Aug 2021 07:38 AM PDT Hello everybody! 👋 I recently accepted a SDR position with the Key Accounts team at a SaaS company. Coincidentally, I also saw that the % of Reps hitting quota is lower vs. reps on the SMB, Mid-Market or Enterprise team. I'd appreciate any tips and advice regarding the cold calling/emailing and outreach strategies or tactics that are most effective when prospecting within this segment. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Help first job in SaaS - account strategy Posted: 03 Aug 2021 08:41 AM PDT Hey guys, I never worked in SaaS, this is my 2nd month at the job - and i'm feeling completely overwhelmed. At my old job, we called into schools and some government and it was pretty straight forward, leverage a contract, ask how we can help.. it was a cold calling job. At this SaaS role, I am given enterprise accounts and just giving them a call doesn't work. I have to read my account decks my AE are sharing, i have to write compelling messages, research LinkedIn, understand value props, know how to personalize for each prospect, send out events - i have never done any of this and feel like i am way over my head and out of my league, my head is about to explode. i got so used to cold calling, i haven't prospected via email in years. This job is important to me and I like what I do. I figured like usual, get the job and figure out what to do later but i underestimated how strategic SaaS sales is and i'm just not sure I can do this….. wtf do I do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:30 AM PDT I work for a fiber internet, cable and home phone company in outbound telemarketing. I have been here 8 months now I always hit my goals for sales you just have to hit at least 80% of goal to get paid 80% of commission and you can hit over 100% and get paid that percentage. Right now I just use the dialer and referrals from customers and I usually hit 95 -110%. I would like to expand and get more sales not sure what is the best bang for my buck tho. Should I make flyers for my neighborhood and apartment complexes does Facebook help any, should I hire someone on Fiverr to do social media marketing for me their fairly cheap. I just don't want to waste time or money on something any advice or stuff that worked for you would be very appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:02 AM PDT Got hired on with a great company a few weeks ago and I'm anxious as hell. I feel like im not good enough - feel like a fraud. It's an amazing job, more $ than I've ever made but I feel like they're gonna fire my ass any minute. Quota is 1 meeting per day. No ramp up period was talked about and right now all of my time is being spent learning their software/systems and onboarding. I feel completely overwhelmed. How do I get over this and chill? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 07:43 AM PDT I am currently in the interview process for the Outside Sales role at Paycom. I know this has been done before on here, but does anyone have further insight into if projected OTE are accurate ($70K base, $130 OTE 1st year)? Any further insight into day-to-day or worklife balance? Also, any tips on the interview? I have read about the 4 hour cold calling blitz and needing to land 3 appointments… I am coming from technical industrial sales and have never had to do anything like that… Tips? Thanks! SDR Compensation Data 2021 -- Free Resource Posted: 02 Aug 2021 11:09 PM PDT As someone who was trying to break into tech sales and finally got an offer Monday morning, I was pretty fricken clueless as to what my OTE should be... Posted: 03 Aug 2021 04:06 AM PDT Background I'm the first SDR at a saas startup. Back in June I was told there would be a new comp plan in July with higher quotas because I was crushing my quota every month. Fast forward august 3rd. No new comp plan has been given to me. In July I was 330% over what has been my quota. I asked my supervisor what my new quota was and he said he didn't know and has not been given my new comp plan. He did say. If I payroll gives you out your accelerators, don't spend it because they may clawback it depending on what my new quota will be and that he will make sure it is retroactive. My question is, is this legal? I'm going into my second month with not knowing what my quota is. Do they have to pay me on the current contract or can they retroactively change my quota? Thanks for the help. [link] [comments] |
What are important things to look out for in job offer in sales? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 05:43 AM PDT Hey guys, I recently received my first job offer as an SDR in a big SaaS company and I'm wondering what are important things an offer should contain. Things I'm thinking of would be to have uncapped earnings, so that you can earn as much as you can. What would be your criteria? Best [link] [comments] |
Starting with cold calling - any tips? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:20 AM PDT Hi! First of all.. big respect to every one of you - working in the sales. Not sure why, but I always had great respect for people making calls, hustling, closing deals, and stuff like that. I'm building my side hustle - a digital agency in the E-commerce industry and I'm going to utilize cold calling for getting my first few clients. I know I can outsource this process - but I want to start doing it by myself to learn more about people, sales and all of that. I'm reading spin selling and smart calling books and I'm starting to get a good grasp of the basics and fundamentals behind this amazing skill.. it's just - I will be starting the outreach in like 1-2 weeks and I was hoping to get some of your tips or advices so a really simple question.. What is it that you wish you knew when you were starting doing the cold calling? [link] [comments] |
Seven year employee making under $100,000 versus contract job offers over 100,000 Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:17 AM PDT I have recently been getting a lot of job offers from recruiters that are $50 an hour and $60 an hour nothing has materialized of course but as someone who has been with the same company for seven years yet unable to make $100,000 I was wondering if the community thinks this is something worth looking into or too risky with low job security. I am having a hard time advancing my career and I don't know sometimes if I should focus on finance, industry, or position but I definitely want to make more money [link] [comments] |
Anyone have any experience working with Liberty Mutual Or other insurance companies? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:13 AM PDT I'm thinking of making a change to a different industry. I am currently in sales but only make around $30k/yr, no commission. I saw on another thread where a commenter mentioned that insurance agency typically "only" get around $45k/yr, which would be a huge step up for me. Any advice or experience working in that industry? Ever Dealt with Nerves at Work? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:13 AM PDT Hey everyone, I just started at a SaaS company as an SDR and I love it so far. Great pay, excellent commission structure, everyone seems really cool, laid back but performance-based culture. The thing is, I'm having trouble just being myself lmao. I feel like my personality is not very "work friendly", I swear and party a lot. As a result I'm sort of gagging myself and come across a little awkward/ shy. It's not a big deal so far but I certainly don't want it to get worse as I really want to stick around at this company for a little while. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm trying to just relax and present myself well but it's like there's a ton of pressure. [link] [comments] |
Lost my job because of COVID last year… Posted: 02 Aug 2021 06:50 PM PDT I took another job at the end of this past year but I recently resigned due to a bad company culture and a lot of unkept promises. One thing I've come to realize after giving 11 years to a company, only to be let go due to something out of my control, is life is too short to work for someone that doesn't have your best interests in mind. I have 11 years sales experience as an AE in the sporting goods industry, but I find myself at a crossroads on what I want to do next. Everyone keeps talking about SaaS, but I'm unsure what direction I should go next or if my skills would translate into a role in that field. Anyone have any leads or advice on next steps? For context, I was making 50k base and 50-60k commissions, depending on the year. Hoping to make at least that in my next role. Thanks everyone. [link] [comments] |
Should I accept the first job offer, or risk waiting on better offers? Please help. Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:55 AM PDT Hi everyone, I am currently in the process of finding an entry level job in sales (BDM\SDR). I got an offer from a company that manages a large portfolio of different companies ranging from financial to cyber security (but not a SaaS company) and I'm in the initial phases of other SaaS companies, all of which whom are more successful and have better reputation. On one hand I don't want to walk out on an offer, given the fact that I have already been rejected twice, and I have zero experience. On the other hand, my chances are very decent with the four other options lined up. And I feel like I'll be missing out on starting off in the right track. I do know that I want to do SaaS sales, eventually in the cyber security related field, but none of the places that I found hire without any experience. How crucial is it to start with SaaS if that's what I'm looking to get into? I can still allow myself 3 months of job searching. Thank you so much for your help, I look forward to learning from the gang. Cheers, TL:DR: got accepted into pretty basic BDM role, still have better options on the line but didn't finish the process yet, should I take the job? [link] [comments] |
Maybe it's just confirmation bias, but I feel like I'm seeing more fired/laid off/pip posts lately. Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:09 PM PDT I don't think the economy is back and booming nearly as much as the talking heads have apparently convinced a lot of management. Our company is slow, nobody is buying, supply chain issues abound for both us and our customers, and the sales staff is burnt out to the extreme. I know we're all used to hearing "no" on a daily basis, but the "no's" lately seem to hit a little bit different. Lot of despair and frustration in my industry. [link] [comments] |
How to pitch web development services Posted: 03 Aug 2021 04:29 AM PDT Hey there. I do a lot of digital advertising, I also create websites, but I haven't been getting a lot of website requests. How can I pitch to clients that they need websites? [link] [comments] |
Put on a PiP, not sure where to go from here, any advice appreciated? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 03:22 PM PDT I've working in closing sales roles for just under 4 years, and then was laid off during COVID (industry related). I tried to transition to tech sales and moved across the country for a BDR role. I have never struggled this much in a role. I was a top performer at my last roles and I don't know why, it's just gone downhill. I couldn't meet the necessary opps. I'm already interviewing at other companies but I fear the process won't be done before end of month, and then companies I'm interviewing with won't hire me seeing I was fired after a PiP when running my background check. I'm going full on giving my all working extra hours to attempt to meet my opportunity goal before end of month, but I'm seriously panicking. I have never seen myself in this situation. Any advice? I’m a new BDR, meeting w/ my aligned field rep for the first time, advice? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:37 PM PDT As per the title, I'm a new BDR/SDR and am syncing with my field sales rep for the first time tomorrow. Do y'all have any advice for how to navigate the conversation, any key things I should talk about or things I need to establish in the meeting? Currently have the agenda of: introductions, asking about them and their career path, asking about their current territory and pipeline quota and how I can best help, and then talking about my KPIs I have to hit. Would appreciate any advice! Thanks [link] [comments] |
What questions should I ask the CEO? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:38 AM PDT I work for a franchised organization of almost 50 offices with 10-15 employees per office. My office is one of the newest ones (opened in Feb) and the CEO & the Director of Marketing are coming for a visit for a few hours. I plan on sticking with this company for a long time and have my sights set on becoming the sales manager for my office in the near future and then becoming a regional trainer, who reports to the director of marketing. What sort of questions should I ask these guys to leave an impression on them and help me stand out in the future? [link] [comments] |
Any advice for landing a SDR role as a former teacher? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:32 PM PDT I graduated from a top Ivy League school one year ago, and was completing a program called Teach for America in NYC. I had plans of doing the program and then shortly after doing an MBA. I realized I didn't like teaching, and they locked me in to teaching second graders when I wanted to teach older students. I liked the storytelling, presenting, and speaking parts of the job though, and was great at talking on the phone to parents, so I thought some of these skills would transfer over to tech sales. The last couple days, I applied to 25 positions so far, mostly using LinkedIn.. A lot of them say 0-1 years of experience required, which seems promising but I haven't gotten any response back yet. I was hustling pretty hard to guess companies' email addresses, and then sent VPs and Sales Managers an email asking to get on a call to learn more about their career. One person reached back and I got on a call with him, but he said he relocated to another city. He said he could put me in contact with a hiring manager at his old company if I'm willing to relocate to Boston, which I wouldn't really be able to do since I have a lease here. Any tips? Just keep doing what I'm doing? [link] [comments] |
