We all have been in a place where something is not working, no matter what we tried. I thought it would be good for the community to help each other.

Comment below on whats your challenge is and what you've tried. Then others can reply with ideas on how to overcome your challenge. Probably a few jokes too ;)

    Love or Hate LinkedIn

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 09:41 AM PDT

Am I the only one who absolutely hates LinkedIn?

The "connections" you make have little to no relevance to you or your field, and then they reach out 5-10 times being like "let me know how I can be of service to you"

The recruiters are non-existent. Nobody has ever actually reached out to me with a relevant job offer, it's for the most random, sketchy, and horribly paying gigs

On top of that there is so much toxic positivity in peoples posts, it's sickening

Anyone agree or feel different? Maybe I just haven't utilized the platform correctly but I've been on it for like 3 years, and I have 3+ years of solid sales experience

Today I asked my AE for feedback

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 05:03 PM PDT

I was just aligned with about 10 Account Executives at the start of the fiscal after never working with them before.

Today I held a call with an account and one AE. I led the call, AE didn't say anything and didn't ask any questions when I opened the floor to him before wrapping up the call ten minutes early.

I thought that was weird because AEs usually have 9 million questions so I asked for feedback. He said he didn't need to ask questions because I had already done a great job of informing him what was happening ahead of time and leading the call to where we could be as productive and efficient as possible.

He may have just been being nice but I'm counting this as a win for me today. I am one tiny bit less afraid to lead calls with AEs on them.

Anyways, wanted to share. Happy selling everyone!

Does anyone actually LOVE their job?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 10:23 AM PDT

Hello fellow salesmen and saleswomen, I wanted to see if any of you truly love sales? Have anyone said wow I love my job and so happy to get into sales? If so, what industry are you in and why do you love sales?

I am in healthcare and I have a friend who is at 77% occupancy from a brand new community within 6 months, for all you not in the industry that is amazing. She just got fired yesterday. I won presidents club 1 month before I got a PIP. They also put my boss on a pip too. I have another friend that works on the industry and took a month off as her son just got her law degree and got a pip and she is also a producer. I fell into sales accidentally and am dying to get out! Like a 30k payout to get out.

So if you love your job what do you sell and why do you love it?

    Car sales, pissed clients

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 05:38 AM PDT

Hey there, anyone of you familiar with these kind of situations.

Been in car sales for 4 months now. Been last 2 weeks on vacation.

Returned yesterday to the company. Immediatly had to sit down with the chief saying ive done the worst job ever. Multiple clients of mine havent been giving the proper service while i was gone. Honestly i did put everything on paper for my coworkers, but somewhere it got screwed up. Now I am taking resposibility since they are my clients but the whole mood has switched in the dealership towards me and im not feeling really comfortable anymore there.

Any advice for a young starter how to act and behave in these situations and how to communicate with the managers? Many thanks

Transition from salary job to commission based.

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 12:06 PM PDT

As the title states, I am transitioning from a salary based sales job, to a commission based sales job. I am currently working out my 2 weeks notice and have been reading, listening to podcasts, and watching videos, on commission based sales. Does anyone have any tips to help with transitioning to a commission based salary? Things they wish they were told going into it?

Have you guys ever been rejected via a phone call?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 11:56 AM PDT

Without revealing too much information, I've completed all the interviews for a job including the final round.

I've now been asked to take part in a followup call to kind of catch up.

I either have the job or I don't. I figure that typically a company rejects via email so wasn't sure to expect. I figure if they're calling, it's probably good news, but I'm keen to find out what's going on. I know that no one here will tell me for sure, but just wanted to see your guy's experience.

So, with all that being said, have you guys every been rejected over the phone or has it always been no response or an email?

    Pricing Freedom

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 07:47 AM PDT

I'm a new AE in the medical supply/device industry, and one of the things that surprised me the most was the amount of freedom we get when it comes to pricing. As long as I'm not selling at a loss, I can pretty much charge whatever I want. This means that I have customers paying very different prices for the same product (I acquired this territory from another AE, so I didn't decide this pricing) Just curious, are sales in other industries like this as well?

    Earnings in Staffing/Recruiting

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 10:56 AM PDT

    All,

Been working on a career change for a few months. SAAS has been rejecting my applications, reach outs, connection requests etc at about a 90% rate. I'm wanting to break into SAAS for the very high earning potential.

I'm curious the potential in staffing/recruiting? In my job, my ceiling is really only about 100k-150k so I'm looking to go somewhere where I can move up ranks quickly and make my family serious money. Does staffing and recruiting have the potential for that?

I see a lot of listings and sure I could get my foot in the door. Curious to hear from you all.

Discovery calls - do you prefer video or audio?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 06:54 AM PDT

Hey guys I am going to be doing a bunch of discovery calls for a new service my company is selling.

I have noticed that I personally seem to get a lot more fatigued on video calls rather than audio. Probably something with blurry cameras, lack of eye contact and missing visual cues. Also when doing voice only I am able to stand up, walk around and use my voice in a more dynamic way because of it.

Since I'll be the one deciding, I am curious as for what you guys think now that we're all doing a bunch of discovery calls on zoom and similar.

I should point out that I have a really high quality setup in place (studio lightning, DSLR as webcam, podcast microphone etc) so really I am wondering if there's any point in the extra effort/tiredness or if I should do audio as that's what I find most comfortable.

Do you find there's an advantage (trust, better conversion etc) to video, or do you prefer to stick with audio only?

What should I look for in hiring a sales rep?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 04:21 AM PDT

I've just launched a SaaS app and I need to hire a sales rep and ideally help shape our sales funnels and processes. Our targets are affiliate marketers so most of the prospecting we expect will be done by email and social networks.

What should I look for in a sales rep and any other bits of advise appreciated.

We are building out an excel sheet to start our prospecting and we'll eventually turn this into a custom CRM/backend for us to manage.

    Logistics/supply chain vs Sales

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 09:50 AM PDT

Hey guys, I been in b2b sales for a little over 2 years. Recently I took a job as a full sales cycle account executive.

I honestly like sales. I am pretty good at it, I don't mind the stress as I really don't let it get to me and I have a great team. Though I have came to the conclusion that this is not what I want to be doing for the rest of my life. Definitely don't want to be a sales manager.

I have a logistics background from my time in the military, and recently been considering giving a Logistics job a try.

Anybody work in the logistics field now or in the past? I'd love to hear your experiences!

How to work my way up into sales position?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 05:57 AM PDT

Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing okay!

Basically, I work in a plant nutrients company as a warehouse assistant. I am working for my uncles friends company and at the start he said I could work my way up into a sales rep. That's one of my biggest motivations on why I took on this job and worked in a warehouse which I really find boring and labour intensive ( not my typa thing )

The sales position is currently taken by the owner since the last sales rep got fired, but I know his going to be super busy and he won't have time going to stores and doing sales work in the next couple months so I want to quickly take this opportunity to get into the sales position.

If its okay to ask for some advice on how to show him I am capable for sales position and what are some things I must know beforehand?

Looking for a career change at 38! Help!

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 09:14 PM PDT

I've been in tech sales for the last 12 years and have hated most everything about it. Technology to me seems so contrived. Don't get me wrong, closing the deal is amazing but the tech aspect had me rolling my eyes. I have sold software, hardware and of course services but it all has me asking... What's next? I want to make a difference in someone's life. Maybe sell something meaningful. I've made good money but I want more.

I'm looking at the cannabis sector (I'm in Canada) right now but I'm curious what else pays well and is fun and is mentally stimulating.

Can anyone suggest something awesome to sell that pays well and something I can feel good about?

I will seriously look into anything right about now.

    Thanks in advance!

Sales interview / mock presentation advice?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 02:50 AM PDT

    Hi all,

First of all - I've found so much useful information on this subreddit, thank you! ❤️

In the last two weeks, I've had two interviews for a Sales Exec role in London with focus on a specific, small ish market. I don't have previous experience with sales as a job but somehow managed to smash the interviews regardless - I think they really like me.

I've soon got my third interview with the director + hiring manager and have been asked to do a sales pitch about literally ANYTHING. I am generally good at presentations and am looking up a lot of tips to make a sales pitch one. However I might be overthinking the subject too much.

The company works with digital advertising. If you were recruiting someone, would you expect me to do the pitch on something related to the industry? I was surprised when they told me I can freely choose (they explicitly said they wouldn't have me role play a pitch on their product/service without prior training and extensive knowledge, which is good.)

Anyway.. Any tips or advice would be hugely appreciated. I always loved people and having people-orientated jobs, which is why I applied for this role without prior experience in the field. If you've worked as or with a sales exec, I'd be happy if you could paint me a picture of what your experience was like. Or give me any insights at all.

Sorry for rambling - I am nervous and it is such a good opportunity!

Is anyone else an SDR who feels like their sales organization is unfair?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 07:46 AM PDT

The SDR role at my company is essentially who can suck up the most and kiss the most ass. We have dead leads and the only way to get meetings set is if the account executive throws you a bone.

I was struggling and I tried to mimic the most successful people and I saw from some salesforce sleuthing that they were being handed meetings.

I can go ahead and set up a meeting with my AE and ask them to throw me free meetings to help with my quota but I'm not going to do that because I want to be AE and doing it this way is not helping my development... at all.

I have an interview at a Nissan dealer in 2 days. How should I prepare?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 08:44 PM PDT

I'm 17 years old and I turn 18 in less than a month. I saw the listing for this job on Indeed and I applied there. Afterwards I cold called the manager, spoke to him and told him why I was a good candidate for the job.

He then said he'd call me back and I get a call from the owner and essentially say why I think I'd be good for the job but with a bit more elaboration.

Both the manager and the owner seemed excited to have me come in. I've been preparing for the interview by coming up with questions to ask, points to mention and I've practiced some interview questions.

Although, I do not know much about cars so I am also going to spend some time learning tonight.

    What's a demo worth?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 07:12 AM PDT

    B2B SaaS sales.

We are wanting to incentivize our main cold caller per demo they schedule. They do not have any hand in the process after they secure a demo. In this case, this is a commission only position for someone who is retired that is already working with our company (potentially switching them from small salary to commission only based on the number of demos schedule).

This is not my decision to make, but it is happening. I was asked what we should pay them per demo secured. Does anyone here have experience with this kind of model?

Or, anyone have suggestions for a different model I could suggest to my boss (no base).

TLDR: How much do you/would you pay per demo for a commission only person whose only job is to schedule demos for the sales team?
