The Red Flag Factory in Belize Posted: 02 Aug 2021 08:33 AM PDT This is the Foundation for Financial Journalism's second article on Freedom Holding Corp., a company that is the poster child for the weird multi-jurisdictional company of the modern era. Incorporated in Las Vegas, listed on the Nasdaq but with its operations are in Russia, Kazakhstan and Cyprus. It has "no name" auditors and lawyers, and despite its publicly listing, given the owner's large percentage ownership of the stock, iFreedom Holding's essentially a private company. By design this bank and brokerage firm falls through the regulatory cracks and as such is accountable to few. More importantly, almost nothing Freedom Holding's public filings says make any sense from a traditional business sense. For all that, its market capitalization is approaching $4 billion.
