Im left alone in my first sales job. Please help with my action plan. Posted: 02 Aug 2021 03:43 AM PDT Hello everyone Im an AM and started in sales two months ago. I had some basic product training the last two months but ZERO sales mentorship. I sell to food processing factories and was told that i can just try it the way i want and see how it works out. This is what i did so far:
What do i do if i call and theyre not interested? What tools do i use? I dont have anything to track my contacts so im using excell which sucks a lot because i cant Setup reminders to call again. Can someone recommend me something? Where do i use Linkedin? How do i find companies that process food? I was told that the other AM just Google but that seems silly. How do i proceed? What are my next steps? [link] [comments] |
Just got fired from my SDR job for under performance Posted: 02 Aug 2021 09:50 AM PDT Just straight up fired, no PIP, no warning, nothing. Damn, I feel terrible right now. Anyone have any job search resources so that I can start applying for the next sales job? [link] [comments] |
#1 Competitor attempting to poach me AGAIN Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:12 AM PDT Hi all, I've been in my current gig for just over one year. I am a KAM with OTE between 110-120K. I get contacted by recruiters at least once per month on LinkedIn and was planning to stay where I am longer as my management promised director position. However, now for the second time, my #1 competitor and the largest player in our industry (auto) is trying to poach me. I gave them my number (over 150K+) and they are willing to meet it... I have to admit I like the idea of having the #1 player on my CV in addition to my current company. Professionally, my ultimate goal is executive level within less than 10 years. I was thinking of getting the final offer from the competitor and then bringing it to my Prez? What do you think? [link] [comments] |
Staffing or SaaS? Scared to leave? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 06:53 AM PDT Hi all, Looking for some advice since I'm pretty new to the corporate world. Right now I work for a large staffing company, have been here for about 10 months. I'm making 45k + about 30 in a week for commission. I wanted to become an AE, base is 55k and double the comp you get as a sourcing specialist (recruiter). I have heard of SDRs at SaaS companies making 60k base with a very promising comm structure…. I have financial goals that will take me around 3-5 years to meet in my current role and I can't kept but feel I could make more $$ with more of a work life balance elsewhere… The thing is, this is my first job out of college and for some reason I feel scared to leave? I do love the people in my office and although I don't love staffing I don't totally hate my job? Definitely don't look forward to it but I don't hate it… Has anyone else stayed in sales after leaving staffing? Any advice about leaving a job you don't hate? Would I be leaving too soon? Any thoughts and advice are MUCH appreciated(: [link] [comments] |
Sales Engineer looking for career advancement opportunities Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:31 AM PDT Just started working in an inside sales role (B2B) earlier this year. I'm making 65k a year with no commission, and there's not much opportunity for growth in my role at this company. My background is in Electrical Engineering and I work in the Energy sector. I'm lost as to what skills I need to make more money. I'm willing to put in the work and try new things. Any suggestions about what resources I can take advantage of? Or even what kind of role I could transition into from where I'm at now? I'd greatly appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
Connecting with Sales Leaders to land SAAS Interviews? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:50 AM PDT All, I've been working to get a SAAS sales position for the last few months. My new role at my current position is an absolute dead end and I'm wanting to get out. I've been applying hard and have been getting rejected equally as hard. I had one offer but it was not a good fit. A little background on me. I've been in equipment sales for 5 years. Hit target the last 2 out of 3 years (Covid) and have been consistently in the top 3 salespeople for my division. I have the skills to hunt and close new business and know I can excel in SAAS. What are your thoughts on connecting with sales leaders to land interviews? Applying online has left me with a 95% rejection rate. I'm strongly considering cold emailing sales leaders (vp of sales, sales manager etc) to try to get an interview. When any of the recruiters see no software it's an instant no. Most have stopped even replying to my messages. Thoughts? If anyone has tips on a good opener for Linkedin connections it would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Why Realtors are so harsh and they hang up on you ? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:14 AM PDT I am from Europe and I call people who responded to my email with yes.. but even when I call their first response is to hang up the phone to 85% even I call them right away after they responded to my email ... Is it possible that its harder if I am from Austria ? Is this the reason why ? or is this niche pretty saturated ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:10 AM PDT Hi everyone, Before my current position I had 0 experience in sales. I've been an engineer the last 3 years but my boss insisted I try my hand at selling because I can talk to people. I recently started an AE position 7 months ago selling services for a fiber network integration company. Over the last months I've had a total of 8 customer meetings but nothing really material in the sales funnel. During this time I've tried networking with communities on Reddit and Twitter but nothing solid. Ive tried email campaigns but no luck. Cold calling is just unbearable for me but I know it's something I got to do in sales. I can't seem to get more meetings. I'm starting to get discouraged if I'm honest and am having a hard time finding the energy to put effort into the job. I've been told, in this industry, it takes a year or more to make a sale. My question is, what are some signs that one is not cut out for sales? These last 6 months have been difficult but I don't know if I'm either bad at selling or just don't like the trade. Thanks in advance for the comments [link] [comments] |
Started a new job on sales, any tips in general? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 06:11 AM PDT So, I started a new job where i can finally start saving some money to move out of my parents house, it's actually a pretty good job, the product that we offer is on the health area and it's worth the cost. The thing is, since i'm new to selling anything (never sold nothing on my whole life) I'm kinda lost. My new boss knowing this, made a deal with me, he's going to approach the clients with me, and "make the sale" for me, but I will only receive half the commission for those, (which is actually a pretty good amount of money), he will keep doing this until i build confidence enough to make one by myself. The thing is I need to bring the clients to talk with him, and that i must do alone, and I'm looking for some tips on how to approach someone to schedule a meeting and maybe sell the product. Any tip is welcome. [link] [comments] |
Can you work two sales jobs at the same time? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:40 AM PDT I've recently gotten into sales and i've been doing well. I first got a job selling insurance but the company office is far away from the location we sell to and i had minimal supervision so i took another job cold calling civil servants to take loans. I hit both sales targets the companies made but i feel like i barely have any time to myself. I need the income though and i was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:32 AM PDT You know how a lot of Sales job listings say "must be located near major airport"? Well, what does that actually mean? Is there a conclusive list of major airports in the US? Is there a certain criterium that would designate an airport as "major" as opposed to… medium? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:59 AM PDT Hey everyone, at my current job I have been jerked around for a while now about moving up into sales. I currently work as an audio/video installation tech. I have decided to jump ship to a new company and would like to get into the sales world. I was curious what companies and job descriptions I should be looking for? I am aware this will be an entry level job and I am okay with that. I am also currently in school for a degree in marketing and have been at my current company for 6 years. Thanks! where to look for remote sales job Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:09 PM PDT Hi all, first post here! I'm looking for any recommendations of where to look for part-time (preferably make my own hours/100% commission pay) where I can also be entirely remote. As for what I'm doing now and why the pretty knit picky requirements, I have my real estate license for my home state but since I travel a lot due to my girlfriends education situation, I just cold call a few hours a day and refer the leads I get from it to agents that fit their needs best for ~25% of the commission. I really enjoy it, it's very laid back, I can play video games or read or watch Netflix while I'm waiting for someone to pick up, and there's no obligation for me to spend time on it other than my own accord (and a pipeline, of course) So, I'm wondering if this is my best bet, or if I should try to find a replacement/supplemental gig of similar freedom. Don't know anything about sales other than I seem to be the only person on the planet that enjoys cold calling. Thank you :) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:20 AM PDT Hi, I've been offered a role at Varonis as a BDR. I'm new to sales & I'm not too sure if they're a good company to start off with. Any advice appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2021 08:19 AM PDT Hello, I know this has been talked about before but I cannot find it. I am trying to find the cost of Zoominfo currently. Also what are your experience with the data integrity? We are outgrowing our current data source and am looking for something a bit more. EDIT: I am also open to alternatives [link] [comments] |
Senior Account Manager in Corporate Travel - I think it is time to change industries! Posted: 02 Aug 2021 03:52 AM PDT Working in Corporate Travel in this day in age is up and down to say the least. While overall we have been lucky, now with every lockdown we have, my company reduces our hours. I totally understand their thoughts behind this but security and certainty of a steady paycheck is now a high priority for me and my family. I am just wanting to get other AM's or Sales peeps opinions on what other industries where my skills would be best transferable and I should be looking. I am genuinely passionate about building relationships and seeing my clients succeed and knowing I have been part of the process. I am probably one of the most client centric people I know which is sometimes at my detriment. TIA [link] [comments] |

What is the general process with taking a conversation from LinkedIn to phone/email? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 07:05 PM PDT If you connect with someone on LinkedIn and want do discuss an opportunity further, do you spend a good amount of time messaging on linkedIn first and then scheduling a call in the next few days/weeks? Or do you try to move the conversation to the phone/email right away [link] [comments] |
Good example of Case Study for Sales Engineer Interview? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 05:32 PM PDT As part of my interview, I have to complete a case study (multiple parts) where I'd eventually present part of the case study. Does anyone have good resources for completing something like this? I really appreciate any help as I'm new to an SE role and don't think I've ever done a case study. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Customer Success to SDR or AE? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 07:33 PM PDT I'm about 3.5 years into CS and want to make the move into sales. I'm currently at a start up that isn't getting much business atm so I'm maybe working 3-4 hours a day. I'm hungry and actually want to work and make real money. Will I need to start at the bottom in an SDR role or will I have a shot at an AE role? I'm more stressed at the fact that I make shit money right now and working harder won't change that (in my current position) - I rather be stressed in a sales role where I know I'll have the potential to make more money. My roommate does outside pharma sales and it honestly sounds like cake. Is there a specific industry that's easier to break in to? SAAS seems abundant and quite lucrative but part of me likes the idea of connecting with people face to face.. aka pharma or something else?? Any guidance is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
