Basic accounting question for a new business

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:51 AM PDT

    Hi there,

So this is definitely not a challenge to you guys, but for a fella like myself it is pretty new for me. I would like to understand how do I use the breakeven formula for a business I'm planning, and since it's considered a retail business (selling toys), my products will vary and thus the prices will be different for each product. How do I determine what is the price I use for the formula?

As far as I have learned, the basic formula is BEP=FC/(Price-VC). Is that correct? If so, how do I plug in the price when I offer items costing and priced as follows for example:

    Item 1 - costs $3 price $6

    Item 2 - costs $1 price $3

    Item 3 - costs $7 price $13

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    My plan pls read

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:35 PM PDT

My name is Hunter I just turned 14. For the last couple of months I've been working in the landscaping business and have made around 1000+ and made 500+ by shovling snow in the winter (to me this really isn't a lot since I know I could work harder but I don't have the best work ethic and work isn't to easy to find). I had never wanted to work a 9 to 5 job and working like this kinda gave me inspiration to start making money. So I invested 200 bucks into two different stocks. I had also started thinking of way to make money and one of the ideas was breeding red wigglers and selling their very rich compost. To me this was a great idea the compost is rich and could sell nice and 1 pound of these worms sell for about 50 bucks plus the idea sticks out. The problem with this idea is it is a ton of work and could very easily fail. So that's why I'm writing for inspiration if wanted and to know your thoughts.

Just How Much Should I Niche Down? (Web App Freelancing Business)

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:13 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I hope you're all having a great day.

I know you're all quite busy and have little time, but any two cents of insight you can provide on my situation will be greatly appreciated.

So to be brief and not waste your time, here's a short overview of my dilemma:

    Brief Overview

I've been learning how to program for the past 15 months or so, and have learned how to make everything from commercial websites to desktop and mobile applications. The range of things I can do is pretty wide ,but I'm ambivalent as to how to offer my services.

Given the preponderance of ways I can go about doing this, I thought it best to not put all of my eggs in one basket, and instead pursue multiple avenues simultaneously.

The Avenues I Intend To Pursue

So there's two sides to this:

The first one is that I want to establish personal credibility as a developer with an online portfolio, testimonials, and all the bells and whistles. For this I bought a domain and am creating a website and some case studies.

The aim of this is twofold:

    1. Get clients as an individual doing freelancing.
    2. Have something to fall back onto to apply for a regular job if freelancing doesn't work out.

Since my portfolio is meant to depict what I can do as a whole, I'm thinking of including everything I can do in it. Someone who can manage a wide array of technologies is probably more likely to get hired as a freelancer or (worst case scenario) an employee.

The second side of this is my aim to reduce my competition by hyperspecializing and removing my personal identity from the equation.

Since there are multiple web app niches that I have experience in, I thought: "Why not buy a domain for each one of the niches I can offer services in, and market them as separate businesses not related to my name?".

This would allow me to explore different opportunities and test what works. It would also allow me to gain money from all the things that I can do, without having to market myself as a "jack of all trades" (which I hear is not particularly wise).

So my question is, do you think my thought process is making sense? Or am I missing something?

Is it possible that I'd be spreading myself too thin?

I'm eager to read your answers.

    Thanks so much in advance!

My business partner is trying to undermine me

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:00 PM PDT

So I've just found out my business partner is trying to remove me as a director from our company due to me working 40 hours a week at my main job ( I work 8 hour days and then work 6 hours at night on the company) and spending enough time on the company? What can I do to challange this situation and worst case scenario is there any grounds I can dismiss him on?

    3. How do they manage the quality of their products?

    4. How did they overcome the Galaxy Note 7? (Why do people still use their products?)

I need advice. 18 year old struggling with huge business pressure.

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 05:27 PM PDT

Hey everyone! Before I start I just want to let everyone know that I'm not bragging or trying to show off. I'm truly here for your advice only.

I'm 18 year old lad that has had a passion for E-commerce & business from a very young age. To keep it short and sweet, I have lots of goals in my life that I want to achieve. Number 1 being, I want to own my own Lamborghini Aventador at 29. Number 2, I want to buy my dad his dream car. Number 3 I want to buy my mum her dream jewelry bracelet. Number 4 (most important) I want to prove all the assholes wrong that doubted me. I want the label that I am "Self made"

A couple months back I launched my first Ecom store and to date it's about to hit 5 figures in sales in a short amount of time. I have paid $0 for advertising so I know when I start to run ads I'm going to Hopfully scale to 6 figures.

I'm starting to notice that I'm putting so much pressure on myself. For example, when I'm on my phone relaxing I feel guilty that I'm not reading my digital marketing book. When I'm watching TV I feel bad that I'm not on my Shopify dashboard orginzing business stuff. When im just relaxing I feel bad that im being lazy. I don't know if I'm putting so much pressure on myself to become rich quickly? I feel like im running out of time despite im only 18. Does anyone have any advice or even can relate to me? Not only that, I feel slightly overwhelmed by it all. Thanks all

Should I charge for the guidance?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 11:35 AM PDT

I have made a Facebook page. It has 920 likes and I post daily content and I attached a google form also. When a person needs some help then they fill the form in which I asked many questions regarding their education, their next career goal related to computer science, what level of expertise they have, financial condition, etc.

The questions are asked to understand their situation as much as possible so that I can guide them.

In 2 weeks, 9 people filled the form and I send them online resources(youtube channels, articles, book names, etc) and, guidance about jobs(how to apply), freelance(how to do it), or businesses(how to start it) of which they are not aware.

I search for them and send them specific results in a PDF format with 6-8 pages of guidance with the learning path and the end goal that they have selected instead of general results.

Right now, I am giving this guide for FREE but thinking that should I charge for the guidance?

Because people are online but they don't know about online resources that can help them achieve their specific goals.

If the answer is yes, how much should I charge them.

If the answer is no, is there any other way to charge them?
